VC Complete Cobblestone Streets v2.1 UPDATE ONLY by DiCanio
This is a slight update to the previous Complete
Cobblestone Streets v2.0. I forgot to add the proper
TXD files in the Starfish Island zip file in the EXTRA
folder in the original release ;o)
Sorry about that.
This Update version contains the proper Starfish Island
TXD files. If you have downloaded the complete v2.0 Mod
previously then you only need this small update :o)
The Complete Cobblestone Streets Mod turns ALL the
streets of Vice City into kool granite stone cobbled
ones. This gives both islands a very unique olde worlde
look. Given that Vice City is a small island, and the
local government have better things to spend their money
on (like million dollar marinas for their swanky boats),
I think it appropriate that the roads still sport hard
wearing cobbles.

Tools you will need:
IMG Tool v1.3
Instructions:
1.
Open your GTA3.img file with IMG Tool and copy star4.txd
and starroad.txd to a back-up folder on your hard drive.
You can now safely delete these two files from your
GTA3.img file.
2.
Add the star4.txd and starroad.txd from the MOD folder
to your GTA3.img file.
Remember to rebuild the archive.
NOTE:
In the original release I decided to leave Starfish Island
with modern roads. It's a sort of self-contained enclave
of nouveau riche and the people there (it seems to me)
would want their estate to be different from the
hoi-polloi - so to speak ;o)
The road textures to cobble Starfish Island were included
in the EXTRA folder, which caused all the trouble in the
first place. I should have just scrapped the Extra folder
idea. We live and learn... sometimes ;o)
NOTE 2:
It appears that Vice City only uses the Generic.txd in the
Models folder. I can't confirm this 100% so I have left
the Generic.txd replacements for the GTA3.img file as part
of this Mod.
Included with this Mod are the usual collection of
goodly screenshots.

Check whither your files are Read-Only. This is a common
problem with Vice City. Grab this wee program and let
it change your Read-Only files for you with no fuss.

Just right click on the main Vice City dir after install
and choose Clear Read-Only Attributes.

Game Play Tip:
Fed up with your car disappearing as soon as you turn your
back? Just press the Exit button along with the Run button
and the door will be left open when you leave a vehicle.
Your car will remain just where you left it for a long
time. It's an old trick but well worth remembering :o)
