Well it looks that way on SupCom files... and I really wanted to read the copyright page too. |

Clonehunter From: (Wisconsin) Joined: August 18th, 2008 Posts: 229 | Is it a bug if you've submitted something 21 days ago and never shows up, possible because its not in the que, yet it still says pending here... is that a bug? |
MariusFett (Staff) From: (Merthyr Tydfil) Joined: February 5th, 2009 Posts: 183 | If you've submitted a file that long ago and it's not showed up on the site yet, odds are it's still in the queue. When a mod is rejected, an email is sent to you automatically, whether the staff member sends you one or not, so if you didn't get one, AND it still says pending, its most likely still in the queue.
Files in the queue expire after 7 days though, so you should contact a member of staff on the site you sent the file to and ask what's going on with it. |
anus_panda From: Joined: September 4th, 2004 Posts: 43 | Read those links, interesting... interesting. Better than the Klingon-> English, English-> Klingon dictionary I had on my desk. Couldn't find a copyright page though, is that going to be /privacy.php? The current link is privacy.legal.filefront.com. I'm just really bored at work with nothing to do, well I could do my job
Would it be possible to have the smilies insert where the cursor is? I am quite lazy and, at the moment, it puts them at the end of the text field (has it always done that?). Also, is the FileTrekker link supposed to take you to one of 'those' portal websites?
I'm guessing the individual site admins will have to update their websites as the links are different from the main FileFront.com site. The SupCom Diablo 3 link points to a ZDoom map named 'Ichiban' and there's a 'Top Download Sections'. It's the same on the forums, if the style is set to 'GamingForums3.0'.
The time looks wrong too, my profile time is set to GMT but these comments are all around -7 hours. The label says 'All times on this site will be displayed in your own time.'. There's also a dead image for the only SupCom affiliate link, that's not terribly important to be honest. |

Commander165 From: (Kamino (preparing to eliminate the CIS)) Joined: April 30th, 2009 Posts: 222 | I do have one that i think might be a bug, there have been a lot of
times when I would reload pages and I would get an error. This also
seems to happen when I open other pages at certain times.
The temp. fix I found is go back one page and press stop then reload it. |
Nitegriffin From: (Budapest) Joined: June 24th, 2007 Posts: 243 | yopyop, I'm struggling with that issue too from time to time, but i've discovered that even if I seemingly failed to log in (top side 'Log in' field still asks for my username/pass after I've typed in both and hit OK), my username shows up in 'Who's online' list. Furthermore, last night I forgot to log out from LegacyFiles, and today the 'Log out' button shows up instead of the empty Username/Pass field.
Also, smiles are showing up now for me on the left side of comment window. All I'm trying to say with this; you may be told you failed the log in process, but you're in, in fact. So I consider it more like a glitch bug of the site. Still, voting is indifferent from that, and there's no apparent connection between successful log in attempt and voting ability. |

I have a couple of files and it is unacceptable to resubmit em over and over again, so I need to know if I can really submit em ! |
x3no From: Joined: July 10th, 2007 Posts: 70 | Hmmm, over here at JK3Files we've got 10 votes on our current poll (started 07-11-2009 23:55). It looks like you're just using cookies to determine what polls people have voted on, which should work fine... I'll also mention that the 'Remember my username and password' does not work. It looks like you store the username and a flag to log people in, but unless the 'fnid' is an oddly hashed version of our password, I don't see how you can log us in! |

Your already activated, so you don't have to worry about it. Your e-mail is listed as "***@live.com".
@x3no
That has happened to me before too. You try to post a comment, it says the wrong username, and then all of a sudden you have a spam post in your comment box. I'll report this problem, maybe banning this "Jerrie" fellow will fix the problem.
EDIT: Next time you do want your e-mail changed, instead of posting about it here, how about e-mailing me so this kind of thing doesn't happen again.
MY e-mail is Paul@FileFront.com |

I have been registered and used my e-mail adrees from yahoo for years until a human which was incapable of thinking posted my e-mail address without authorisation on a website public access able. He didn't mean it hostile, but since then I get spam and it is every year more, so I take privacy very personal.
@#33 & #41
It follows now a cite from the current filefront privacy statement, the question is are we all, the entire net plus the spamrobtos the trustworthy third-party ?
Security
We use reasonable precautions to keep the personal information you disclose to our magazines and websites secure and to only release this information to third parties we believe share our commitment to privacy. However, we are not responsible for any breach of security or for the actions of these parties.
Now, if you don't respect the privacy of your members you better tell me so I can save the rest of privacy I have left and close my account. I read privacy statement of all sites I want to register and the past years there are more and more sites which I don't register because of the privacy statements.
Don't think I'm making up a issue, it is important for me to know what happens with my private data. |

@ Goody: Perhaps "!!!" means something else to you then. I'm sorry for trying to be of help with the small bits of info we become provided with. |
Pille From: Joined: July 22nd, 2002 Posts: 1836 | @ Chrissstrahl: I asume you still own that homepage of yours so if you want a friendly advise, get an email adress with your private domain and make it forward to an @googlemail.com account. I'm using that since years and it is more than effective when it comes to filtering spam out. My email adress is widely known and spread, and I only get like 2 or 3 spam mails per month. |
Mr.Funsocks (Staff) From: (Network Management) Joined: August 20th, 2004 Posts: 1003 | @45
You asked me if you could change your e-mail so I wanted you to be aware which e-mail account you registered under. If you didn't want me to try and fix it, you shouldn't have posted about it here. You should have e-mailed either me or my colleagues. Also, Ronnie is right. Public e-mail accounts aren't the most secure and private.
We do respect your privacy and continue to, that's why I edited my comment. Just don't ask me to do something when that security in question could be compromised. |

Thanks for the tip, but my web provider offer me excellent mail account, but I use my yahoo now for years. And I don't trust google any more the actions google did the last two years on the free-market clearly shows where google is heading, I don't wana feed google with my e-mail data and support their quest.
@48
As FileFront Head Network Admin you should be aware of risks and you could has send him a e-mail and posted here that you have send him a e-mail, then he could have looked and perhaps he would have found out that it is in spamfilter or that he does not receive e-mail at all from this address. |
Mr.Funsocks (Staff) From: (Network Management) Joined: August 20th, 2004 Posts: 1003 | What? I tried to read that comment several times and it still does not make sense.
Regardless of what you are trying to say, what is done is done. I apologize for, what you see as a security threat. It won't happen again.
Now, let's get back on topic: Current Site Bugs. If you wish to discuss this further, e-mail me at the e-mail I aforementioned. Any other comments about this subject will be deleted. |

Thermal_Nuclear_Chicken From: (Webb City, MO) Joined: October 7th, 2007 Posts: 152 | I've had something happen to me today that may or may not be a bug. When I tried to go to the main armada2.filefront site, it went through, then redirected me to another page with the same general layout of the armada2 site but a box was in the center of the screen and it had scrolling text that said something about the page not existing. I would refresh or go back and the page would be normal. this was happening before the site change and I don't know if it is a bug or not. |

Some time ago (about one week) I submitted a file (during log in problems), it was rejected and I was informed to resubmit again. So some time later I resubmitted the file (while logged in of course). But when I went to the file submission queue it wasn't there. So I was waiting some time and I tryed submitting again (today). But the file is still not in my queue list.
Is it OK?
Thanks. |
Pille From: Joined: July 22nd, 2002 Posts: 1836 | @ Zaxxon: I would recommend you send a list with those sites to network@filefront.com as these links could eventually provide a great risk after that hacker replaced them all with warez sites, so if they're outdated they will need to be looked into asap, for your own safety. Please contact the network administration under mentioned adress. |

Ronnie From: (Leiden) Joined: December 4th, 2002 Posts: 647 | Ads are indeed the only way to support the site, since you're not paying anything. More people who block ads means there are more ads required to create the same amount of revenue. It's not exactly rocket science but I now hope you know why the ads are there. In the end, it's your own fault more ads are added so I guess you only have yourself to blame. |
anus_panda From: Joined: September 4th, 2004 Posts: 43 | Well adverts aren't the only way... depending on the size of the webdev team. Filefront cooouuuulllldd:
- Sell registered users E-mail address to Viagra distributors (I frequently click those links)
- Offer a paid sub-domain hosting package for modders. Small fee, maybe couple with a templated theme... mymod.supremecommander.filefront.com. Couple fhat with a sub-forum?
- Create an ad filled java games sub-domain where people can go to play games, like ISketch (until I got 3 IPs banned at work for cheating, BOOYAH! It was Unanimous not Uranus... hehehe). Not sure if you could actually get money from the games unless you host something like Coke? As in the drug not the drink...
- Sell t-shirts and mouse mats with the FileFront (Copyright © 2009 FileFront, Inc. All rights reserved.) logo on. Not saying I'd buy one, but.! Well, maybe a pencil? |

Forogorn From: (California) Joined: June 20th, 2009 Posts: 1195 | Sorry for the third post, but I am having difficulties with uploading, I tried to upload the file again for the third time, and this time it doesn't show at the area where it says pending or rejected. Then I uploaded for the fourth time, I think I am going to have some trouble.... Dang is this hard, maybe I should wait until Filefront is all fixed up before uploading. If anyone can help me here, I'd appreciate it. I am such a newb. |

Med8r From: (South o' the Mason-Dixon Line) Joined: April 9th, 2009 Posts: 246 | Here's an annoying one: Whenever I go to download a file and it takes me to the main site, as soon as the page loads, an error screen comes up saying, "Internet Explorer cannot open this Internet site. Operation Aborted". This happens sporadically; sometimes I can dl stuff, sometimes I can't, and I've experienced it on both EaWFiles and JK3Files, so I imagine its an issue with the main site. |

- Site

If it said the file was uploaded successfully, have other files been posted on the site recently?
Please be as detailed as possible so we can try to help you. Thank you in advance. |

The size was 1 MB I believe, I am not sure, but I am positive it is that size. I think it said it was uploaded successfully, and I think it's been 2 days since anyone uploaded a file for Knights of the Old Republic. That's what I think.... |

Though I don't know if this is 1 of the issues, but it takes a long time til my file gets approve, because I waited 10 days after I uploaded my file, and it finally got approved. Is it suppose to be this long? If so, I'll be patient. And if I am allowed to know, how long does it usually take for a file to be approve? |

MIKE_HUNT_1 From: Joined: December 7th, 2008 Posts: 63 | Hey dude just dont worry about it. Just don't upload it. If you want to play a mod or map with friends then just go onto megaupload.com and it will be instant. there's no one to approve your files. this website sucks. its DEAD. |
Mikouen From: (Hull) Joined: July 18th, 2008 Posts: 219 | When you receive an email telling you that your files are expired and/or 404'd, please try and resubmit them. It's an FTP problem and several of the staff are currently lobbying to get it sorted (translation: b#$@!ing about it), but as you can imagine there's a lot of work to do to bring this network out of the stone age which Ziff Davis Media were all too happy to leave it in.
If your file submissions are consistently being rejected on grounds of upload expiration, it may be worth sending an email to network AT filefront DOT com - while expired files may happen on reasonable occasion, I honestly cannot think of any justification for them occuring frequently, so the situation would need to be brought to an NA's attention.
@ MIKE_HUNT_1:
Putting aside all the bulls? you have to go through just to get a single file off services like that, there is one critical flaw which makes services like that completely impractical to modders.
Exposure.
No one will ever see a file distributed through mirror services such as that as they have no indexing whatsoever, the only way a download link will ever be found is if someone is given it or is specifically searching for it.
This ultimately means that a modder will get no critique nor feedback from more experienced modders and just general players, and as a result they are left unable to improve their skills.
That is possibly the worst situation for any half-serious modder to be stuck in. |
