Railworks - Route Building Competition
Although not on filefront, I'd thought that I would share this compeition for those of you that may play the game or even have an interest in that area. The competition is basically where you create a short route using only the default items in the Game Railworks (to make it more fairer for everyone). While this is the second competition that these folks are doing for railworks I feel that it is a good idea to promote more of the freeware side of the game (seeing as there is a lot of payware content). The Competition officially starts on the 1st of october and you will have a month to create a route of a fairly small size, it can be based in any area, country or era (although that may be more difficult with most of the default items being either from the UK, Germany or the US!)
Quote:Hello to you all
It is nearly time again for all route builders, both experienced and aspiring, to get themselves ready for the second great UKTS Route building Challenge. Challenge No 1 inspired the creation of a magnificent selection of routes, all built within a week, with several of them receiving upgrades after the Challenge to become firm favourites.
Challenge No 2 has a different format and we hope that this will encourage more members to take part, especially less experienced route builders as there will be many knowlegable Challengers and Observers available to help out with any problems.
Filefront Gaming Today News: APB Might Be Resurrected
If APB isn’t dead yet, it will be soon, as we learned yesterday. But wait just a minute. For whatever reason, the BBC reported on this story, and they say Realtime Worlds is still trying to sell APB. We knew they had been trying to sell it for a while now, but nobody has bitten, which is why the MMOFPS is shutting down.
The news, of course, isn’t that Realtime World is still trying to sell the game. No, the news is that somebody who had been working on APB told the BBC that Epic Games is a “potential buyer.”
To celebrate the impending launch of Rock Band 3 at the end of October, Harmonix bro john Drake announced a pretty hefty DLC sale exclusive to the Playstation Network. Remember The Bourne Conspiracy? Remember how boring it was to fight dudes in that game? Well, one can only hope that fighting dudes in Blood Stone 007 will be less boring, because all the fighting dudes Daniel Craig does in this new trailer will look familiar to those who suffered through the above-mentioned Bourne game.
Assuming it’s not lame like The Bourne Conspiracy, though, this thing looks pretty tight. I think I’m in, Bizarre Creations. Watch the trailer:
At TGS this week, Capcom announced Asura’s Wrath, a new action game based on Asian mythology with a splash of science fiction.
The game is being developed for Xbox 360 and PS3 by Cyberconnect2, the folks behind the Naruto and .hack games. They’ll be using Unreal Engine 3 apparently.
The announcement trailer (embedded below), starts with (we presume) Asura all beat up and dying and impaled with many spears. But then he gets wrathful, and proceeds to beat the living sh$% out of everyone in his path.
Judging by the trailer, Asura’s combat tastes extend beyond standard weaponry. He’s also into taking on armies with just his mitts. He’s a super-powered grappler, it seems. He looks to be a god-Zangief, if you can picture that.
Look at the guns on that hot lady. Every time I see a new one of these cinematic trailers, I get even more excited about the game, but, considering the end of the trailer reminds us that the game is coming out “early 2011,” shouldn’t we get some gameplay in one of these trailers at some point?
Whatever. for now, just enjoy some more gold-tinted violence and that lady pictured above shooting guns and our hero doing more of his Christian Bale-as-Batman impression. Good times.
Over the last month or so, EA has caught some flack from the mainstream media over the player’s ability to play as the Taliban in online multiplayer. Now, GI.biz reports that EA’s CEO John Ricitiello has struck back at the controversy in comments made at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference.
Ricitiello: “no-one noticed” players can play as the Taliban online “until a journalist decided to put the game box in front of a mom who’d lost her son in Afghanistan to create some controversy.”
What else you got, John?
“I think that says more about the newspapers than it does the game industry. Having said that we’re incredibly sensitive to the challenges that a non-gamer who doesn’t really understand what I’ve just described might imagine when a journalist who also doesn’t understand a game describes it to her.”
The Fallout MMO is something that has been bandied about for a while. Interplay was working on it, then Bethesda sued them. It was later reported that the lawsuit was dropped, but Bethesda said it wasn’t.
Still, development appears to be going forward, and over the weekend, anyone who has signed up for updates received something…odd.
This pamphlet appears to extol the virtues of the Church of Harold. Harold, as you may recall, is the only character to appear in every Fallout game thus far. In fact, he’s worthy of an entire page in the Fallout wiki (click the link for more Harold).
Those feeling the sting of APB’s failure can now get a little respite if they move over to Hi-Rez studio’s sci-fi shooter MMO Global Agenda. On the Global Agenda blog, Todd Harris, Executive Producer for the futuristic combat title offers his condolences for the loss of APB and initiates a onversion plan for the now orphaned community.
Harris opens the offer up to previous APB players (or really anyone who wants it) to buy the digital copy of Global Agenda through the company website at 30% off the regular price. The deal runs today through Friday, September 24th and those who purchase the game, entering the promo code : LongLiveShooterMMOs can pick up the game for $20.99, £13.12 and €15.75.
Last week, we told you about the comments Microsoft’s Kinect boss Kudo Tsunoda made when he said that Kinect would “blow away” the iPad’s sales numbers. Apparently, this isn’t the most outrageous thing that he thinks or says. In an interview with Game Informer, Tsunoda said,
Halo did an awesome job of building a first-person shooter exclusively for the console, and now hardly anyone plays first-person shooters on the PC anymore.
Seriously? This is where we are in promoting consoles now? I guess that all those folks playing Bad Company 2 on PC aren’t actually there. Not to mention the legions of players that are busy devouring titles like Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, or whatever Valve game they prefer. Oh, and all you gamers playing the Modern Warfare games? You apparently don’t count either.
“Bungie are a very unusual company,” Activision big man Bobbert Kotick said at the America Merrill Lynch Media, Communications and Entertainment conference. ”They’re probably the last remaining high quality independent developer. It’s very hard to [pauses]… that has sort of has institutional skills and capabilities. And they’re a real company.”
Kotick came to this conclusion because Bungie made a ten-year publishing deal with Activision earlier this year. And I’m not trying to make fun of him by saying that. No, he said that himself, and I’m just relaying that message.
“When they started the process of looking for a new partner, they’d been in business with Microsoft. They had a vision for a product they wanted to create that needed certain skills and capabilities – that Microsoft had some of. But as they started to go and look at the obvious candidates, they realised that no company other than Activision had the skills that they needed to be successful for the vision of that product. These are things that you never would have envisioned five years ago.”
It’s always fun to see how enthusiastic companies are about their new releases. Of course, it also sometimes means that you get some really, well, interesting comments.
A great example of this Microsoft’s upcoming Kinect launch. Obviously, everyone at MS is excited about it, and they want to tell us all about it. Sometimes though, I think they get a little carried away.
Take Kinect spokesman Kudo Tsunoda, for example. In an interview with Gamasutra, Tsunoda makes a prediction that may be juat a wee bit bold.
The preorders have been really strong. As far as what we’re looking at for Holiday, this is going to be stuff that’ll blow away any of the sales you’ve seen with iPad. The Xbox 360 is already selling better than the Wii and Sony right now. Kinect’s really just going to boost that to a whole new level.
The MSI GT660R is a pretty good gaming laptop/desktop replacement. However, it appears as though MSI is not content with resting on its laurels.
Building off the GT frame, the company announced this week that it would roll out two new performance laptops aimed squarely at the gamer market. The two new models – the GX660 and GX660R offer USB 3.0 as well as faster Core i5 & i7 options and on the GX660R a fully High Definition capable LED LCD screen that handles up to 1920x1080p resolution.
The GX660 and GX660R were developed based on feedback given to the manufacturer though the professional gaming circuit. Prices are $1500 for the GX660 and $1800 for the GX660R and the new models can be purchased online through newegg.com or Amazon.
You remember City 17, right? It was in that little game, oh, what was it called? Oh yeah, Half-Life 2.
Now, Valve is featuring community map for Left 4 Dead 2 that takes the survivors into the bowels of City 17 to see if they can survive. No head-crab zombies in this version of City 17, but there are plenty of the zombies you’ve come to know and love. You can even host these games on Official Dedicated servers this week.
If you want to get in on the Coop and Versus gameplay in City 17, you can download the map right here at FileFront.
Sega dropped a longer, more intense trailer for the upcoming action game Vanquish at Tokyo Game Show 2010.
It’s way cooler than the last trailer Sega put out, which revealed more about the apparent Russia vs. U.S. premise of the game. Check it out below.
Xbox Live members and Playstation Network users can check out the demo online now, which includes the game’s Casual Auto mode. I’ve played it, and as the trailer shows, Vanquish does a pretty good job of mixing speed and a cover system. At no point did the demo approach the coolness executed in the trailer, though.
Viral videos are all the rage in marketing these days, so it should come as no surprise that a new one has popped up featuring the PlayStation Move.
LA ad firm Wolfbreeder has rolled out this short, featuring a limping man running from a giant Mii. Luckily, he has a way to deal with him. If you still have that one buddy who’s trying to get you to play the Wii with him all the time, this video is for you.
If you’ve been wondering if a premium subscription to Quake Live is worth the money, this week you have a chance to find out. The free premium event that id Software ran last week has been extended through Sunday, Sept. 26.
Show up to this event, and you’ll get a chance to try out all the Quake Live premium features, including all of the following:
* Join premium matches to play on any of the 20 new arenas
* Play the premium-only FreezeTag game type
* Create clans, and join more than one clan
* Connect to matches without seeing a pre-game advertisement
Eugen Systems isn’t new to the strategy genre. Their first title, Act of War: Direct Action, released in 2005 to critical success. It’s been five years, and now the developer returns with their second strategy title, R.U.S.E. Right out of the box, it’s clear that R.U.S.E. is a well-presented, polished RTS. The graphics are sharp, and the sound is spot on.
One of my favorite things is the zoom feature. If you zoom in close, you’ll be able to watch individual soldiers or vehicles that are carrying out your commands. That’s not all that new. However, when you zoom out, you can back all the way up to a strategy map / sand table view that actually looks like a map sitting on a table in a headquarters building somewhere.
Set in World War II, R.U.S.E. puts you into the shoes of U.S. Army Major Joseph Sheridan, who leads troops in theaters from Africa to Germany. Basically, you’re trying to track down a spy called Prometheus who’s feeding intelligence to the German army. There’s a story here, but don’t let it distract you. It’s no Pearl Harbor.
The first mission will tease you, because the scale it encompasses is awe-inspiring. Don’t get used to it, as you won’t see this again until much later in the campaign. Once that first mission ends, you enter a flashback to your time in Northern Africa.
A decade after Sega released Phantasy Star Online on the Dreamcast, and today announced at the Tokyo Games Show 2010 it would sequel the MMO on Windows PCs next year.
Sega bundled the announcement in with a trailer about the last decade of Phantasy Star games and the upcoming Phantasy Star Portable 2: Infinity. The video doesn’t include any gameplay shots of PSO2, or really any other details besides than the release year and that it’s currently slated for PC.
The original PSO was one of the big titles on Sega’s Dreamcast console and played to its strength in online gaming. Makes one wonder if the recent rumor of Sega returning to consoles could correspond with a new Phantasy Star MMO.
Does your entire family think that it’s totally bad that your life revolves around video games? Well, I have a bit of info that you can throw back in their smug f**king faces when you inevitably you catch s**t for playing Mass Effect for the 12th time. (Yes, I’m inserting my life into this post.)
A study by the University of Rochester has come to the conclusion that folks who play fast-paced action games make quicker decisions than those who don’t, and they also say those quickly made decisions are no less correct than those made by your slower, non-gamer counterparts.
The researchers found that video game players develop a heightened sensitivity to what is going on around them, and this benefit doesn’t just make them better at playing video games, but improves a wide variety of general skills that can help with everyday activities like multitasking, driving, reading small print, keeping track of friends in a crowd, and navigating around town.
We’ve heard rumors, speculation and even had a few information leaks over the last three years regarding an update to the Sony handheld, the PSP. Well today the confirmation that PSP2 exists comes from another source – Mortal Kombat Executive Producer Shaun Himmerick. Supposedly, along with resurrecting the fighting game franchise on console systems the developers are investigating handheld markets as well and the PSP2, well it impresses him.
“We’re not launching day one on all consoles like that. We are looking at them; we have a PSP2 in the house and we’re looking at the engine, like what can it support. Always a big thing for us is the performance. We’re running at 60 fps, what can we do and do we have to build all the art assets over. We’re definitely looking at them. PSP2 looks like it’s a pretty powerful machine. We don’t have a 3DS system in house yet, but we’re looking to get one, and we’ll certainly look at what its power is.”
Evil Avatar is reporting that Remedy CEO Matias Myllyrinne says that The Writer DLC episode for Alan Wake will be the last and that it, in Evil Avatar’s words, “will conclude things and have some ‘intense action.’ “
Very interesting, though not particularly surprising. All I ask, Remedy, is that I get some closure. I don’t care if it’s wildly confusing or convoluted, as I’m sure it will be, but I do want an ending. And I trust you to deliver. And now I’m considering playing through the game again. I really liked that.
Oh yeah, Evil Avatar did have another small bit of news. They say Depeche Mode’s The Darkest Star will be the song that concludes the episode. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Listen and consider. Don’t think too hard too quickly, though, because it might be a while until The Writer comes out; we don’t yet have a release date for it.
“Privates“, Zombie Cow’s upcoming sexually-themed Contra-style shoot-em-up, was designed with XBLA in mind. Considering the maturity of the typical XBL user, that probably made a lot of sense. Unfortunately for them, Microsoft either found the game’s content and title objectionable, or they simply could not allocate the neccessary bandwidth to handle the onslaught of tired, obvious sex puns this game seems designed to foster; “Privates” won’t be available on XBLA.
In “Privates”, the player commands a squad of tiny… organisms as they fight through what can only be described as the hostile, battle scarred landscape of a woman’s reproductive system and/or erogenous zones. It’s hard to tell if it’s goofing-on-sex-for-lolz, or a poorly disguised disgusted-outright-by-girls screed. Here’s the actual description, which doesn’t help clarify things:

Call of Duty: Dedicated Servers - The choice isn't yours...
We all know how it felt when Treyarch basically told us to stop being silly when we were asking them about whether or not they would be having dedicated servers. The answer was an unequivocal yes, however with that we look to games like Counter Strike Source, the Battlefield series and then not to forget the old Call of Duty games.
We remember those days of server admin privileges, being able to host mods and other goodies on your server, why? Because it was your server. The massive bombshell that has hit many potential server owners for Black Ops is the fact that there is no choice as to what server provider you choose, the only provider will be Gameservers, and their prices are obviously going to be rather inflated and set at a premium because they are a monopoly in the Black Ops server business.
I am happy to see an official blizzard youtube channel~! Never late than never.

Mods are always constantly popping up for Warcraft 3, mostly because the editor is one of the most powerful and easiest to use for any RTS game out there. This mod is no different, its completely changing the face of the game, focusing on a post nuclear scenario for the human race and we have some screenshots posting on the mods Mod DB page, which you can find here.
You can view the screenshots below.

More Warcraft III News: FileFront's Warcraft III Files World of Warcraft: How Archaeology works
Ghostcrawler, Lead Systems Designer for Blizzard has outlined how the new proffessional Archaeology will work in WoW. It works similar to many other professions but as its new, I'm sure all players would love to know more about it before any choices are made.
Once you train archaeology, you can see digsites on your map (not your minimap - your map). There are always 4 digsites per continent. These will not change until you dig one out. Most of the time, you're probably only going to be concerned with the 4 sites on your current continent, but at higher character and archaeology skill levels, there will be 16 sites active at one time (4 each in Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, Outland and Northrend.)
You will only find sites in zones of your level or lower. A level 25 player will have all 4 sites per continent in level 25 zones. (This means Outland and Northrend will have no sites at this time.) A level 80 player will have all 4 sites in any zone. A low level Kalimdor player might have sites in Ashenvale and Stonetalon, while a level 82 might have Uldum, Ashenvale, Stonetalon and Silithus.

More World of Warcraft News: FileFront's World of Warcraft Files World of Warcraft: New Flying Skill To Be Added
Blizzard are going to add a new flying skilled called the "Flight Master's License" to Cataclysm for 250 gold when they reach level 60. Many players of WoW have stated that this is not needed and having many assurances from Blizzard during a Q&A, this was not part of their plans, yet it has still come to fruition.
Clearly dissatisfied with Blizzards plans to add a new skill in, it also comes to a surprise why this skill costs so little compared to cold weather flying costing 1,000 gold. Although, one shouldn't complain just in case the price of the Flight Master's License is put up to around that much or even higher!
Quote:We’ve added a new flying skill called Flight Master's License. When World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is released, players who purchase the expansion will see this skill available from flight trainers for 250 gold once they reach level 60. This new skill is required for flying around all Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms zones, including the new level 80-85 zones.

More World of Warcraft News: FileFront's World of Warcraft Files Warcraft III: Warcraft IV - The Edge of Eternity Recruiting Helpers
One of the most anticipated mods for Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne is recruiting staff, mostly in the form of modellers and 3d artists. If you want to be part of a mod team that has thousands of followers and certainly is one of the communities most anticipated mods currently on the market, then I suggest you head over to their Mod DB profile and give Kingbdogz a PM with your credentials here.
Quote:Eternal Designs, the name of the Warcraft IV team, is in need of some modellers/3D artists. Lately the gameplay aspects of the modification have been on a slight halt because we don't have any modellers or 3D artists to help us progress. Please, if you have any skills with 3D art or can make some fairly decent but low-poly models, contact us at:
The Warcraft III engine can get away with some pretty low-poly models so if you're not an expert in modelling you can still make a difference. When you send us an email, simply tell my why you want to help and perhaps give me some of your previous workings. We are also recruiting concept artists, skinners and music composers, so feel free to contact me if you have any skills in those areas. Here are several links for information about the project:
Battlefield 2: Touch of Chaos
The Battlefield 2 modification Touch of Chaos started off as a simple mod that added infinite ammo to absolutely everything. From there on, it kind of turned into my little playground (lol) and I quickly started adding invincible transport vehicles, heavily upgraded tanks, anti-tank mines that blew the hell out of the aforementioned tanks, C4 that devastated the entire level, etc. Furthermore, I began adding sounds from all over the place: YouTube, Camobox, Prey, Half-Life 2, Call of Duty 4, etc.
After more than a year of inactivity, reinstalling Battlefield 2 made me remember this little mod, and, after having some fun with it, decided to continue. This has grown into Touch of Chaos: Revised.

I Started this mod way back in 2007. It started off just tweeking. Pretty much everything in the game has either Totally changed or been tweeked. I have tweeked the game to try and make it a bit more realistic and a lot more fun. So let's starting killing some bots.

More Battlefield 2: FileFront's Battlefield 2 Files Call of Duty 2: Modern Mod SP Final Update
So that mod is about Modern Warfare, but do not think the history is same with modern warfare,no just the weapons, and skins. So the game is same, but the theme isn't same.
The smoke grenades have been changed to Atom bombs, and there radius is very high,so throw them so far of yourself and your friendlies. This mod adds a little of the future to CoD2, it doesn't bring about any of the storyline or sub-plot that we see in CoD4 or MW2, but it does bring the weapons, which some of you may or may not enjoy. I prefer the old weapons that are used in CoD2, however trying out this mod with CoD4 weapons is extremely fun.
"Look at the size of that thing!" i think sums it up best. Although this is only for space right now, this is only mod I've seen that can actually hold the title of 'total conversion'. There are no rebel or empire craft, stations or remnants (The only thing I saw was the icons on the mini map for the space stations were vanilla. But that's just me being picky). All three factions have been replaced with completely new, unheard of groups. Each has it's own signature style. There are distinct fire and ice, then the third has more of a nature look (I'm still not sure what to call it).
Playing galactic conquest kind of brought things into perspective, but it was confusing since only a couple things have been changed for land battles. Playing skirmish on a large map is where it's at. It's hard to tell if everything is scaled properly against eachother since there is no frame of reference. Some of the fighters seem way too big, while some of the capital ships seem way too small. However, it's nice because it allows you to see the detail put into each craft.

More Stalker: FileFront's Stalker Files Star Wars Battlefront: Second Sides Mod
jdee's Second Sides Mod is, in its essential form, a large mod expanding on all four sides and adding a huge amount of custom content to a game that rarely sees it anymore. It incorporates a wide range of assets both from the community and from the other game in the series, Battlefront II. It also includes a few new maps and new localizations for the global sides.
This mod covers all of the main sides, including the local sides which are rarely seen. No unit has been left untouched, seeing either a weapon modification or a visual redesign. Every weapon has been redone, with each bolt looking more vibrant and colorful and dealing more damage as well. The units are fairly well balanced throughout the sides and versus their opposition, with powerful units dying somewhat easily and less powerful units able to take them down.
The vehicles have been modified as well. Most of them are models converted from Battlefront II or community created. They all have their respective animations, which must have taken a good deal of work on the part of the creator. Gunships are now more like tanks, which is what they should be, and fighters are faster and less powerful in comparison. Tanks are much more powerful, and can take out their opposition very quickly as well as the infantry running around.
Dawn of War: Veteran Mod 3 Chaos Demo
"Hi everyone! I started making a different Veteran Mod. There will be new units, new single-player story, new multiplayer maps, etc..
This is only DEMO version. Chaos In some species, such as DEMO is brought to you by. Possessed of three types of units available. Normal, Veteran, and a champion. New secret unit! A Unique Hero. Quite expensive 2000 requisition & power + 5 squad & 1 vehicle cap." So here is Veteran mod, however it's only demo. So you only have access to the possessed squad it goes normal Veteran and Champion. Just like in the single player. However my issue is that I wish you would have told us which race you added these into sense there is like 6 races which as you can tell quite hard for someone review your demo mod.
However that being said I look forward to playing the full Version of the demo.

This mod allows you to upgrade the personal crystal independently of Kreia. That way you can do that even after Kreia becomes unavailable. The idea behind this mod is that if this crystal you get on Dantooine is so unusually responsive, specifically to you, why do you need someone else to keep it attuned? As I see it, the reason is Kreia's being the manipulator and control freak that she is. Most likely she wanted to seem even more indispensable to the Exile. Each time he runs to her with the crystal, it's a subtle reminder that he gains power, but through her.
However, what if our Exile was perceptive enough to pick up on the procedure himself...? Therefore, with this mod, you can attune the crystal at a workbench, without Kreia's help. However, you must have enough Wisdom (16 or more). That stands for the Exile having sufficient understanding of the Force and of his own connection to the crystal. Hint: if you're playing a combat-oriented character with low Wisdom, you can still meet the Wisdom check with some Wisdom-increasing items and/or Force Valor.

About the file
Not only is he returning to our staff, Tureri is also back with a new map based on a winter battle in central Europe.
All snow maps have a comon problem - Company Of Heroes was not designed to handle them originally. For a mapper, this means they provide a challenge, one not everybody manages to master. There are however mappers who are skilled enough to get around those issues and who produce quality, and Tureri marks no exception to this.
This map, both gameplay and layout wise, is a close to perfect recreation of conditions you would expect from winter battles or the general conditions at the Russian front, providing a refreshing change to the more comon village/town/countryside maps. Everyone who enjoys winter battles will be in for a treat here.
About the file
Here we have a small two player map by a new mapper; Hawkeye (everyone be nice ). The map itself is situated on two mountainous plateaus which are seperated by a rocky ridge in the centre of the map with a large road running from one side to the other, trees have been placed well and hills added for height variation.
As this is the first map uploaded by Hawkeye we dont expect beginners maps to be glorious works of art, however for a first map this does indeed raise the bar for first time mappers. With plenty of texture variation and splines to keep things graphicly appealing Hawkeye has also taken gameplay into consideration with a large ridge running along the centre of the map is bound to provide kill zonesand narrow passages for those players who prefer defence over offence. Some things that could be improved or added to the map could include, a couple more texturs, some buildings to keep those infantry guys happy and maybe a few more splines. (These are just my opinions and we all know im picky ; ).

I have a keen interest in ancient history and civilisations, so when I saw a map entitled 'Mayan Temple' in the file queue, I just had to review it! This is a relatively small outdoors FFA map with a few structures and a pyramid in one corner. I am disappointed to say though that for the most part the map isn’t very Mayan themed, the pyramid being the only structure that resembles real life Mayan buildings. The map is also very dark, which, although it goes with the gloomy sky and rain (reminds me of the good old British weather!), is a bit too dark really, making it difficult to see the map.
There are plenty of nice touches which could make this a good 4-6 player FFA map though, including the walkway across the map, which would make an excellent sniper position, and the walls and pillars to duck behind. The terrain is also pretty good, although I think you need to put some kind of stone or dirt texture in the pools, since water straight on top of grass doesn’t look quite right.

This is a 5 map campaign and Vs file. It is a set of maps taken from HL2 episode 1 and it is brilliant. This has everything from well made panic events to a excellent finale and rescue.Valve has recently highlighted this map as there featured community map and you can really see why. It is faithful to the HL2 and yet it lends itself so well to L4D. It does not take you long before you stop at certain points to compare them to HL2 and they compare well.
It runs smoothly and it is as well made as some of the stock maps in my opinion. The panic events are well placed and the weather effects work well in the different locations. This is a must for any server and every player. If you like HL2 and L4D then you will not go wrong with this.Download it now and enjoy the combined games. More Medal of Honor: FileFront's Medal of Honor Files Sins of a Solar Empire: Indies War Maps (IWMaps v1.0 - SOASE Diplo)
These maps display some of the nearest stars to Sol (up to 60 ly or less) to be played via jump nodes and wormholes. Jump nodes (magnetic clouds) don't require any research to be used, and they can lead to multiple systems, something like a small and simple labyrinth. Wormholes offer instant travel to various stars, sometimes leading to back doors that could be an advantage in warfare.
First of all, these maps aren't meant to be realistic, just enjoyable for single or multiplayer matchs. But I tried to put many of the exoplanets discovered up to date, and even more wink, at the point to make it virtually unrealistic, but beautiful and astronomically optimistic. Each system is connected to one or more systems via jump nodes (magnetic clouds). There are also wormholes that offer tactical advantages, both militarily and ligisticlly. These maps could be considered as huge. So it is recommended to play them with small fleets, and put some rules to human players (for example, a maximum of 1 trade port per system; trade ships cause lag, I think).

More Solider of Fortune 2: FileFront's Solider of Fortune 2 Files Star Wars Battlefront 2: Ardennen
Ardennen ("Ardennes," in English, for those of you wondering why this word looks familiar but not quite right), is a basic map by Commander_Nik. It's a snowy map based, presumably, on the Battle of the Bulge, although it has Star Wars sides, of course. It also doesn't look at all like Europe, which is really pretty much the norm for these "real-world" maps we see most of the time. It's pretty well a "first-map" through and through.
The terrain is pretty jagged, and the map is surrounded by sheer walls (which not only look bad, but they can be walked through). The map is in dire need of the terrain "blend" tool and some prop canyon walls for the sides (if the author is really interested in putting big canyons in Belgium). Many of the objects have placement issues - most of the command posts are floating, and the Hoth bunkers lead to nowhere (except under the terrain). There's also an uncaptureable CP, which makes for a somewhat-stunted round of conquest.
More Star Wars Battlefront 2: FileFront's Star Wars Battlefront 2 Files Star Wars Battlefront 2: naboo:city
There are times when I will get to say "while this is a first map, it doesn't necessarily hit a lot of first map criticisms." This is not one of those times. This map is, in many ways, a master class on first maps. It has a number of issues (although it is relatively bug-free) that are incredibly common to first-time map makers, and to top it off, the map doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
The setting itself isn't incredibly unique, which is problem number one. The title tells you exactly what you can expect, which is a retread of the Naboo buildings in a vaguely-city-like setup. It's got some strange structures, like a bridge that couldn't physically exist, and a number of issues with missing textures and Z-fighting. It also uses the ARGH STOCK SKY.
The sides themselves are what really make this map strange, though. CW conquest is mostly regular conquest, except the clones have a wampa (?) on their team and the CIS have an acklay (again, ?), although for the CIS the acklay is nigh-un-unlockable, because it takes 3000 (!) points to unlock. Why is this even available as a unit? Oh also, the CIS have Anakin for a hero, just for extra nonsensicality.
More Star Wars Battlefront 2: FileFront's Star Wars Battlefront 2 Files Star Wars Battlefront 2: Naboo: Theed (Naboo Crisis version)
Ty294 returns today with this unique modification for the shipped Naboo: Theed map, one that is not too commonly found on multiplayer servers. Essentially, the mod replaces two core files and adds in two new LVLs to your SIDE folder to change up how Naboo: Theed is played in the Clone Wars era. It, much like the campaign mode's version, features Naboo guards against the droid forces. The guards are pretty much standard, though they are a bit more rounded out to be more of a side instead of just a thrown in addition. They all have grappling hooks, which lets you move through the city pretty easily. The droids are pretty much standard, though there is no super battle droid and the pilot has been replaced by a commander unit with no backpack.
A suggestion for next time is to make this mod what has been termed a "mission map"- a map that goes in the Addon folder that uses a shipped map's files so that they do not have to be redistributed and no core game files have to be overwritten. It would make the mod a bit easier to install and more accessible for newer players.

I got this idea when I was thinking on how I could remake my current map (found Here) while I thought about Orc Gladiators. So this map contains elements and ideas from both of them. The current idea go as following:
1) There will be 2 teams and 1 arena. The teams will have a base on each side of the arena and there will be a barrier in the middle of the arena so the teams will be divided. This will be a custom hero map so it starts off with the players choosing their hero and his skills (3 normal + 1 ulti). When they all have chosen heroes they will get teleported to their base.
2) The game will be based on rounds. For 3 rounds you will face creeps (like in orc gladiators). If you kill all creeps you have finished that round. However if you all get killed and creeps survive you will loose lives equal to the amount of creeps alive. Each team starts with 50 lives.

This mod attempts to realize what could be if Blizzard develops Warcraft IV to be more traditional RTS. Heroes retain an important role but are no longer the centerpiece. Armies are larger. Weapons are more powerful. Hundreds of custom abilities and units have been added in addition to new gameplay systems.
Staff Review - This is a fantastic mod for The Frozen Throne, the custom abilities added to various units makes the game a lot more micro based than what the game actually is, instead of just looking after the health of your units, you're actually managing everything that unit does.
With the changes made to the heroes, the game makes you focus more on your army and upgrades although heroes are still essential to this mods gameplay it really does make it harder than it is currently just to rush in with loads of heroes and storm your opponents base. This is definitely one of the best mods out there for The Fronzen Throne and without hesitation, I would recommend this mod to be downloaded and played.

Now, these are really, really subtle. I mean, to the point where, honestly, I wouldn't mind some more work done on it, even if just slight recolouring. Here's the deal, y'see - In the red Darth Caedus skin, he has more of a collar around his neck. In the blue version, his face is clean (unlike the dirtier default one). This modification remodels the vibroswords in game, the models are well done and look much better than the standard in game models. The vibroswords also have integrated into the model have what looks like a glowing lightsaber part to there blade. This modification has been done to a high standard, and personally I never liked the idea of a sword being able to fight stop a lightsaber, I think that this mod addresses this, all in all this is a modification highly recommended by myself. As with all aesthetic modifications a review of the screenshots will prove most beneficial in assessing if this particular modification is to your individual tastes.

As usual, thanks Danny, good job And now..
· Combat on 007: Bloodstone looks quite boring now. Slow motion completely destroys the flow of combat, and if you want pure hand-to-hand awesomeness, buy a fighting game <.<
· Medal of Honor: He's right. Society overreacts to stuff like that.
· Fallout 3 propaganda: All I can say is... o.o
· Kotick is an idiot.
· Study about gamers: Do we really need a study to tell us this? It's obvious: us gamers develop our mental skills more than people who don't game.
· CoD 7 dedicated servers: Treyarch just shot themselves in the foot.
· PSP2: Well, there you go, PSP2 seems real. Stupid that the japanese guy revealed it without thinking, but meh...
· L4D2 new DLC: Already saw it But it's good all the same. The best thing is.. well, everything! It's available for both L4D1 and L4D2, you can play as the original survivors, you get the choice of who dies, and as an extra you get the 'No Mercy' campaign for L4D2, AND the digital comic! Kudos Valve :3
Well, as I said before, thanks Danny, keep it up ^^

well, i see a post option for hao reach mutiplaya.
tip 1on't throw plasma grenades at point-blank range.
tip 2: in Firefight, the dropships are invincible, so dont waste ur ammo.
tip 3: Dont join a muliplayer forge world map that has been up fer a while, because they will know it better than you, not to mention will be spawn-killing.
tip 4:ghosts are good for vehicle mutiplaer, but terrible at firefights.
tip 5:save hunters in firefight for last, they are fairly easy to dodge until you gan grenade launcher them at close-range.
tip 6:In infestion, ALWYS wait for the zombie to come to you. hide in a bulding with low ceilings and long hallways for the best advantage.
THATS ALL FO NOW
BTW, my favorite gametypes are infection, CTF, Slayer, forge, and gruntapocalyspe in firefight. Beachhead is great for grunapocalypse if you turn on invulnerable and unlimited rockets.

Thanks, although it is very easy to make a simple mistake! (even though the insider takes a long time even with the copy pasting )

YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED MASS EFFECT?? O________O
To sum up, it's just about the most humongous pile of absolutely odd AWESOMENESS EVER CREATED!! Mass Effect is like the pinnacle of games, the perfect combination of action and RPG, the beautiful balance between story line, gameplay, and fun. The only downside really are the low quality textures and its short length (only short if you do the main quest though, if you do that AND the (literally) dozens of assignments the game can easily take you over 40 hours to complete, plus the re-play value).
Then you've got its sequel, Mass Effect 2. The story line is much better, the gameplay is much more polished, the graphics are infinitely better, and it lasts MUCH longer (as in I've now played 39 hours and I'm not even half of the way through). There is nothing I dislike about it, to be honest. It's very focused on action, but in a very RP fashion - you can still use special powers, you can do interesting team tactics, and the customization of your weaponry and armor and the skills and attributes you chose to develop make every battle different.
All in all, they're excellent games. You can buy Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 (digital deluxe version because it costs the same as the normal one) on the EA Store. If you purchase them during the week-end and in the same order, it will almost be free (I bought both games at the same time, Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 Digital Deluxe version during the weekend offer for only 11.07€!
