Welcome to all, for the 165th version of the Filefront Network Insider, there have been a lot of new files this week for more of the network sites including the usual maps, a few modifications, lots of maps and of course lots of news from the Network Sites as well as from Gaming Today. This week there has been a fair few files added to the network sites, including a few big modifications for Battlefield 2, Star Trek Legacy and more. The news from Gaming today includes more news about new games, trailers, reviews, a possible halo MMORG and film as well as more which can be found Here
So as normal for the Network Insider we have listed all the major gaming happenings, the biggest modifications and files within the last week for you below. Filefront Gaming Today News: 5 Game Situations That Would Actually Suck (LIST)
The thing that makes video gaming a several-billion-dollar industry is the ability to experience something you’d never get to do in real life, on account of the fact that you’re sitting on the couch, playing a video game, rather than out training to be an astronaut or something.
The games that sell that best generally have one thing: a high “badassery” quotient.
Yes, we all want to play as the gun-slinging, enemy mangling, ninja-assassination-ing BAMF of our deepest imaginations. And games are happy to oblige with magic, superpowers, armor supersuits, injected mental powers, spy training, amazing gadgets, and an incredible amount of “holy crap I can’t believe that didn’t kill me” luck.
But some of those things that seem so great in the virtual world — bastions of badassery — would actually suck to experience. And we’re not talking a little suck, we’re talking life-altering, go-to-the-nearest-spaceship-airlock-and-blow-yourself-out-into-the-inky-void suck.

Currently in full swing down in Austin, GDC Online 2010 has already been the source of a million gasping blog posts. The lastest tidbit to raise our blood pressure comes from Bungie Creative Director Joe Staten. Fresh off the recent success of Halo: Reach, his appearance today included the following non-answer to a question about Bungie’s next project:
“Wouldn’t it be great if we could make a world that was always there for you? Wow. That would be great.”
No word on precisely what he meant, but it smacks of an obvious trial balloon. My guess is that they’re currently bouncing around several proposed IP, and this comment is an attempt to see how the public reacts to this particular suggestion. But set that aside, ignore for a moment the weird tendency in marketing to anthropomorphize the product, and let’s consider the question. Would it, in fact, be great? Obviously that depends on what it is. MMOs are really hit and miss. Even so, after spending the last few weeks awash in Halo: Reach, the answer is yes. It would be great.
Castlevania. The very name invokes images of a man rendered in 8-bit graphics swinging a whip at all sort of monsters you normally only see when answering the door on Halloween. Now, the Belmonts have returned in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Konami’s reboot of the franchise.
First off, this is not the Castlevania of our youth. MercurySteam has constructed a game that is more action adventure than anything else. There are some puzzles to solve, and plenty of secrets to find, but at its core, Castlevania: Lord of Shadows is a linear adventure through a variety of locations.
Lord of Shadows utilizes a combat style that is not unlike God of War; in fact, it shows a considerable amount of influence from Sony’s iconic title. You’ll find yourself fighting waves of monsters with your combat cross using a variety of combos and special moves. These special moves can be unlocked using the experience points you gain along the way, and are almost a requirement to get through the myriad boss battles which have you fighting everything from shape-shifting Lycans to giant Crow Witches, Titans, and golems. For me, the boss fights were a highlight of the game.
It’s a good day to be an X-Men fan, huh. Capcom came out at New York Comic Con and officially announced that it has added Magneto and M.O.D.O.K. to the Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds roster.
They also dropped about a million images and some trailers on us. Check them out below. That’s hot on the heels of the announcement yesterday that Sir Arthur from Ghouls ‘n Ghosts and Nathan “Rad” Spencer of Bionic Commando would be joining the Capcom half of the fighting game’s lineup.
And if that doesn’t satisfy your X-Men-beating-on-things bloodlust, you should know: Marvel plans to port its 1990s arcade classic X-Men game to Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Network.
Some games are a natural fit for online multiplayer, others – like Bioshock or Dead Space 2, seem somewhat ill aligned. Visceral Games and Electronic Arts committed to adding the popular multiplayer option to Dead Space 2 in what is assumed to be an attempt to keep the game in play beyond the single-player storyline.
Well, like Bioshock 2, this sequel’s multiplayer seems on track to add a slightly different perspective to the traditional “capture the flag” game mode. Currently EA and Visceral games are hosting a PS3 invite-only closed beta. We’ve spent a few hours running around in the game and wanted to share our first impressions of this new feature with you.
Firstly, Dead Space as a setting is downright creepy and creepy is often a factor of isolation and moments of long eerie silence punctuated by instants of sheer terror and action. Dead Space 2′s multiplayer isn’t for recreating the tension of its single-player story. While this is a game full of Necromorphs and humans fighting to survive, the multiplayer action is centered on a timed team-based experience. Players join a game and get randomly sorted as either a Necro or Human. The Beta map featured objective based gameplay centered around the human team needing to collect objects and return them to a center hub while surviving a Necro attack.
Sony is talking DC Universe Online and its recent delay to 2011 at New York Comic Con. To make us all feel a little better about it, there’s a new trailer to check out care of Playstation Blog. Check it out below.
The delay of the PS3/PC MMO, which is set in the DC Comics Universe (duh) and seems to include lots of fighting, is meant to make sure the servers can handle it, according to Sony. Meantime, the DC Universe Online Facebook page will stream tonight’s panel, which starts at 6:30 p.m. Eastern. Until then, here’s your trailer.
Dead Space Ignition, a comic book move/minigame prequel to Dead Space 2, will hit Xbox Live and, perhaps, the Playstation Network on October 13. Only the Xbox Live version is confirmed for next week because Major Nelson only blogs about Xbox stuff , derp. If you’re not familiar with Ignition, just know that it “blends an interactive comic presentation of the story with three unique hacking games.” All righty.
Aside from the whole “here is some more Dead Space story” appeal of this thing, completing it will also net you a special suit for Isaac, among other things, in Dead Space 2. An it’s only 400 MS points, so we all know we’ll take the rather shallow plunge at some point in the next four months before the game is out on January 25.
While Fox and Universal’s joint attempt to make a Halo movie with Pater Jackson producing and Neill Blomkamp directing may have died a slow death years ago (with Blomkamp going on to become a star anyway as the director of District 9), all is not lost. New York Magazine’s Vulture blog reported yesterday that Dreamworks and Steven Spielberg are looking to get into the Halo movie game. Spielberg in all likelihood would not direct the thing, but would instead be an executive producer, not really having a hand in it at all.
Vulture says they’re aiming to adapt the novels rather than the games so as to avoiding to potentially having to foot the $12 million bill for Universal’s previous development.
Not a bad plan. Save some cash, and you still get exactly the same story, since, for the most part, the books are adaptations of the games. And I like the idea of a Halo movie, and the live-action ads Microsoft runs in advance of each new game, particularly “We Are ODST,” have shown the potential there. Do it, Dreamworks.
Starcraft 2 is without question one of the of the biggest games of the year, and the question on everyone’s mind is this:
When will we get the first expansion? Battle.net project director Greg Canessa may have inadvertently tipped Blizzard’s hand on the release date of Heart of the Swarm, the first expansion for Starcraft 2, during a presentation at GDC Online yesterday. While discussing future features (including trading replays, broadcasting replays, and upgrading profiles) coming to Battle.net, Canessa said,
"a main area of focus we’re going to be seeing on the Starcraft side over the next 18 months between now and Heart of the Swarm."
If this estimate is true, that would put the release of Heart of the Swarm around April 2012. If that schedule holds true, it would put the third installment of the series, Legacy of the Void, in late 2013 to early 2014.
None of this would be a surprise, as Blizzard is famous for taking as much time as they need to complete expansions for their games. According to GameSpot, a Blizzard representative stressed to them that there currently is no announced release window for Heart of the Swarm. Of course, they also said that the expansion will not be shown at Blizzcon this year.
Years ago back in July of 2010, we heard that the newly 3D Black Ops was outpacing Modern Warfare 2 in pre-orders. Today, we hear that Black Ops is keeping up that torrid pace as we approach the game’s release date. This comes from Gamestop themselves. From Gamestop’s high-up guy Bob McKenzie:
GameStop is tracking to all-time, record reservations on Call of Duty: Black Ops. We are ahead of where we were with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 last year, which previously set the industry standard.
He didn’t give any actual numbers, but that’s beside the point. The point is that Black Ops is tracking to be the biggest game release of all time, even if, as our previous report stated, it may not reach the total number of copies that Modern Warfare 2 sold. Halo: Reach is gonna be small fries come November 9.
When/if you go pick up God of War: Ghost of Sparta for the PSP on November 2, you’ll want to make sure you get the one in the box that looks like that (—->).
See, not all copies of the game have that little note there about a Deimos skin for God of War III, and the copies without that note won’t come with the previously mentioned Deimos skin.
Why is the ability of play God of War III as Kratos’ brother a cool thing? That’s a good question. Here’s the answer, per the US Playstation blog: “Re-live the God of War III experience like never before as you get to play as Kratos’s brother Deimos. With enhanced combat damage and the ability to receive 4x the amount of Health, Magic and God Orbs, you are given the ultimate rage-fueled Spartan.”
Fragging buddies in Team Fortress 2 is a taxing operation, not just for you but also for your PC over time. While Windows and Mac OS both have built-in features to optimize and defragment if you want the competitive advantage you should work to improve game performance on your system. Luckily, tweaking and optimizing game performance is a simple maintenance task that can be done on a semi-regular basis and here’s how.

If you haven’t spent any time playing with Halo: Reach’s “Forge” editor, it’s long past time to change that. If you have, you may be understandably lost–it’s so feature-rich, it can be overwhelming. We’ve got a full guide here, explaining how to use this massive, flexible and (very) fun level creator.
The Forge in Halo: Reach comes packed with a huge array of features that aren’t allowed in normal Multiplayer. It combines the best things about playing with Legos with the best things about using cheats to hilarify a game. Not only a map editor, it’s also a editable-gameplay space for you and up to 7 other people, in which you can play around with the Forge’s features, shift back and forth between Player Mode and Edit Mode (allowing you to create a group designed map), and most importantly, kill each other in a diverse array of game styles. You can also pull some nasty little backstabs, like limiting editing privileges so that you, and only you, are able to access the editor. This can make for some rather interesting ways to really stick it to you friends, and we recommend it highly.
I’ve got a very important PSA about Modern Warfare 2 to show you all today courtesy of my Break brethren. (Important to you, I mean. I haven’t played Modern Warfare 2 in 8 months.) It’s about responsible gaming, and I think we can all, even those of us who have moved on with our lives, get something out of this.
Can’t wait to get your grubby little paws on Killzone 3? Sony’s got a little something to whet your appetite. They’ve just announced that there will be a multiplayer beta for the upcoming shooter, and that it will start on October 25th. If you want to be a part of it, there are a few hoops to jump through.
First, you’ll have to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber. Then, you’ll need to download a special XMB theme that will be available on the PSPlus section of the PSN store starting October 14. Once you accomplish that, it becomes a waiting game. Only 10,000 participants will be selected, with each being notified by email.
The beta will contain the Operations game type, party system, jetpack and exoskeleton vehicles. It will also be the home of hardcore Killzone fans until the game launches in February 2011. If you make it into the beta, come back and let us know what you think about it.
Start partying like it’s 1992: Marvel announced it is porting its six-player X-Men arcade cabinet title for download on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.
T.Q. Jefferson of Marvel Games wouldn’t say exactly when the port would happen at a panel at New York Comic Con, but he did say the game would be ported by its original developer, retain the six-player cap, and feature drop-in online co-op.
X-Men featured six playable characters: Cyclops, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Storm and Dazzler. File that with “X-Men Game Info Released in the Last Two Days,” along with the X-Men: Destiny trailer that dropped yesterday.
So you’re playing the Medal of Honor beta, you go to logout, and then you’re hit with the above error message. It’s like the game is angry, confused, and yet fully understands that it is committing a misstep, which makes it all the more angry and confused, in a thrashing whirlwind of incompetence.
Which reminds one of how EA obliterated the Taliban from Medal of Honor under pressure, only to have the army say “Yeah, we still don’t care and we’re not selling your game on military bases,” which probably left EA angry, confused, and yet pretty sure they committed a misstep.
It’s been a busy year for the people behind Modular Combat. Barely 3 months after releasing version 2.0.0 of the Corporate Warfare/Dystopic Entertainment mod of Half-Life 2 was released, and they’re already up to version 2.0.3. Oh, wait, that’s because they skipped .2. We won’t hold that against them though, because 2 updates in three months is hardcore. Also, they’ve managed to make some significant improvements.
It still has over 50 modules that can be upgraded or combined almost infinitely to make increasingly deadly (and destructive) weapons, and it still forces players to battle for the amusement of corporate overlords in a weapons testing facility. It just got a lot more fun is all:
“I’m just going to say it: Almost all passive modules have been removed from Modular Combat.
Keiji Inafune of Capcom, “the father of Mega Man,” revealed at New York Comic Con that the next Mega Man Legends installment will encourage fans to help make decisions about the development of the game.
The new installment in a series that’s been dormant for years, Mega Man Legends 3 Project is headed to the Nintendo 3DS and will be a collaboration between the game community and the game’s designers; hence the addition of the word “project.” Fans can use the new “Dev Room” feature on Capcom’s Unity website to submit a wealth of different ideas — including those about characters, game play, bosses, and even more stuff.
There’s already an opportunity for input available on Capcom-Unity: fans can vote for one of nine female character designs, the winner of which contest will become the female protagonist in the game. Inafune even has a design in the mix.
More of Capcom’s older titles will find their way to the Wii’s Virtual Console in 2011.
Destructoid reports that the Capcom booth at New York Comic Con includes a sign detailing new games joining Capcom Arcade Classics. At least one, Ghosts ‘n Goblins, was released previously for the Playstation 2 and Xbox in Capcom Classics Collection Volume 1.
Capcom also just announced the addition of Ghosts ‘n Goblins franchise protagonist Sir Arthur to Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds. Nice cross-promotion there.
There’s no official announcement of a North American price for any of the new Arcade Classics, but they’re going up in Japan for 800 Wii Points, so expect something similar.

So apparently, transmedia company Starlight Runner Entertainment mentioned that its media plan for the future of the Halo series includes two additional trilogies in the 2012-2013 area, and a film by 2014.
During a panel at New York Comic Con, Starlight CEO Jeff Gomez talked about what his company, which specializes in cross-media promotion and is hired by other companies to amp up their properties, is working on. One slide during the presentation showed off Halo.
Now, I’m not on the ground at NYCC, but Joystiq.com is, and they’re the ones who reported this story. There’s no comment from Microsoft or Starlight about whether these plans are going through or if they’re just a preliminary best-case scenario, and I dropped by Starlight’s website — no concrete mention of future Halo plans.
In case you were not aware of just how over the top Duke Nukem Forever is, let me remind you that in the demo of the game I played at PAX, Duke gets his nether regions cleaned by the tongues of a pair of hot blondes. And, today, Gearbox showed off a new trailer for the game to press in London, and CVG says it contained “bare breasts, strippers, gratuitous swearing, the word ‘f***ing’ in massive letters and a giant alien getting pummelled in the genitals by Duke himself.”
The secret PAX trailer also had those things, and so it should surprise exactly no one that Randy Pitchford at Gearbox is just a little bit worried that, say, PEGI and the ESRB, among other ratings boards around the world, would “not exactly be approving of this” because it “dances on the line of decency.”
I’m trying to resist the use of the words that imply mediocrity as I write this review, because in all fairness, Playstation Move is a really strong and intuitive motion control device. It works. It works well. That’s not an unimpressive feat.
Or at least, it wasn’t until a few years ago, when Nintendo released Wii.
At the time, I thought that for the most part, the Wii did a stellar job of creating intuitive, responsive motion control, and for my part, I was skeptical that it could be done.
So I’m trying to avoid skepticism when dealing with the Move, because it does motion control, and it does it quite well. The problem is, the Move is years late to this party and it isn’t exactly bringing strippers and top-shelf liquor. It’s certainly not a Mii-killer.
The Move works almost exactly as well as the Wii, and maybe a fraction better. That’s the good news. Anyone who doesn’t own a Wii but does have a Playstation 3 now has access to a set of motion controls that’s on par with the industry standard.
Last we heard, the birdies said The Forced Unleashed III was never gonna happen. But nobody official ever stepped up and made a statement to that effect, and so as far as we’re concerned, it’s been in limbo.
But maybe it will happen. LucasArts’ Julio Torres spoke with SciFiNow mag and said this: “The time-frame for The Force Unleashed and TFU II is about a year, and there’s still, between that and Episode IV, a couple of years for us to play with.”
So the f**k what?
So that means no matter how the game ends for Starkiller and Vader in TFU II, we still have some time to figure out how we solidify the canon so that everything makes sense for IV.
On Tuesday, October 12, a demo for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II will be available for download on Xbox Live and the Playstation Network. It’s no exaggeration to say this is the most anticipated title of the year, particularly since it will bring the The Force Unleashed saga to a close. (Plus Mark thought it was awesome when he played it at PAX)
And you’ll try the demo for a taste of the awesome the game has in store for us, like Starkiller’s dual lightsabers. And his new Jedi Mind Trick. The demo level will take place on Kamino at some secret cloning facilities that are less secret now that they produced a massive clone army for the Republic. AAAAAAAAAHHHHH I can’t wait.
Of course, I’ll be able to wait even less after I play the demo, which unfortunately comes two weeks before the game comes out, and it’s hard to say if I’ll end up spending that entire two-week period playing the demo over and over again.
And I thought the whole “The Force Unleashed III might still be made” news made me happy…
The Force Unleashed was a great attempt at letting us to some pretty outlandish things with Force powers, most notably throwing large pieces of machinery at TIE Fighters and pulling a Star Destroyer out of the sky. The Force Unleashed II, however, seems to laugh at that as it one-ups it in some really awesome ways. Like when you see Starkiller jump up, grab a TIE Fighter with his bare hands and throw it down on some dudes.
Aside from that bit of craziness, the trailer is pretty clone-eriffic. Or is it? This may just be my own erroneous reading of it, but I think this trailer casts some doubt on the previously taken-for-granted knowledge that Starkiller is a clone of the Starkiller from the first game. I’m guessing that’ll be a large part of Starkiller’s internal conflict as he makes his way through the game.
Back in February, Blizzard announced their Q4 financial report. In that report, they listed the number of World of Warcraft subscribers at 11.5 million. Apparently, things have been going well for Blizzard since then. They’ve just announced that WoW now has 12 million subscribers.
Blizzard boss Mike Morhaime said,
The support and enthusiasm that gamers across the world continue to show for World of Warcraft reaffirms our belief that it offers one of the best entertainment values available today. We are as committed as ever to taking the game to new heights, and we look forward to demonstrating that with Cataclysm in December.
It’s not unusual for Blizzard’s numbers to spike like this, especially in light of the announcement of Cataclysm’s December 7 launch date. Many players who have left WoW often return for the expansions. These folks will normally re-up their subscriptions a couple of months prior to the expansion’s release so they can get back into the ‘groove.’
X-Men: Destiny. What the hell is it? Well, it’s a game, and Silicon Knights is developing it and Activision is publishing. That’s pretty much all we know. We’ll find out more at the NYCC Marvel panel on Saturday, though.
But until then, we have a vague description and a vague teaser trailer. Here’s the vague description: “The all-new original video game casts players as new mutant recruits in a rich, branching storyline that features a deep element of choice and gives players ultimate control of their destiny.”
Aight, sounds pretty great so far. Sounds like an RPG, in fact. Awesome. Moving on; here’s the vague teaser:

This mod focuses on special operations during world war two and this mod is an updated version of Commandos Corps mod. It adds new Commandos Units and Regular Support Army Units, Germans has only one Commando Unit commanded by Otto Skorzeny, all other units are regular army units of german regular army and basic infantry formations. Mod by SAS_19 Team from Croatia.
We started in to work on this mod in June, 02, 2010. This mod is tribute to all commandos strike force units during world war two and we want to create a new type of warfare in Battlefield 1942 PC Game. AS you have all noticed with the POTD I haven't been approving them Fryer as been and to my knowledge he isn't a warhammer DOW player so he's been queue up random potds till Friday of this week till I get back form taking care of my dog. There is however a tiny little issue. The constant complaining about the POTD's and the omg potd is on fail streak. Keep this one little thing in the back of your mind. I will keep disabling the posting of new comments for one week if it keeps up. If the comments get any worse my banhammer comes out. Am I clear?
There seems to be some confusion to what I mean I shall give you an example: I submit a POTD call "Fear the C'tan" but it really is a pic of a CSM the first person is going to tell me "Oh wait dude thats CSM not a C'tan" the 2nd person would be like "OMG you suxx you can't tell the difference between a C'tan and CSM you fail" The first person is being honest and the 2nd person is being plain rude. Try to keep in mind I'm trying to keep this site mod, mapper, skiner, POTD friendly. If the people that submit there works fine that people are "Haters" and sooner or later we'll get nothing from them.
I have been quite absent for the last few weeks for multiple reasons. Firstly, school has started again, so most of my time is taken up by coursework. Secondly, my email address has been hacked, the password and the password reset email have both been changed and i can no longer access it.
So that counts for the modding team as well, we need to get back together and start work again! I am firstly going to repackage 0.4.5 with a quick fix, dubbed 0.4.5 RC2 with a few fixes, most notably MC80 liberty working again and hopefully a nice new model for vengeance, some pirate units and tweaks, some new ground units for all factions, and maybe some new Galactic Conquest maps and planets.
With any luck it should be up on the site 17th October. What i need most really is community help. What do you want to see in the mod? i want it to be unique and better that all the rest! (i know i wont achieve that, i am a bit of a no0b!) But seriously, what do you guys want? Please post your suggestions.
And don't worry, KOTOR is coming by Christmas, possibly earlier. And it wont be a complete era shift, it will include both Galactic civil war and KOTOR, in separate GC maps.

Battlefield 2: Forgotten Hope 2 (2.3 (part2/2))
Forgotten Hope 2 is a mod for Battlefield 2. It aims to portrait World War II in a way no other multi-player first person shooter have done before, with a focus on historical accuracy and tactical gameplay. The concept of Forgotten Hope has a long history in the modding community and it's first incarnation was one of the most played mods available for Battlefield 1942 (see Moddb.com ).
The current Forgotten Hope 2 version (2.3) covers the major and well known battles of the war, but also many not so known scenarios that played out in North Africa, Greece & Normandy.
In FH2 you can play as German, American, British, Canadian, Australian or Italian soldier and utilize an extensive arsenal of weapons and vehicles that accurately portrait the assets available in the real battles.
The gameplay in Forgotten Hope 2 is a team-play oriented meat grinder, where the chaos of World War II is captured in it's most glorious and gritty forms. Tank battles, artillery bombardments, dog-fights, rifleman firefights, close quarter shootouts and objective missions can be experienced in both Multi-player and Single-player/Coop game modes.

More Stalker: FileFront's Stalker Files Star Trek: Legacy: CJG Star Trek XI Addon 1.0 For UU2.0
Mudlrf brings us the CJG Star Trek XI addon Pack, featuring 14 ships and one station from the XI era, it is a great addon for legacy. The ships vary from the XI connie, the Narada, and even the Shuttle craft seen taking Kirk and McCoy to the fleet space dock. The modelling is exemplary, with great textures to compliment them, as well as these muldrf and the others have taken the time to include sprites and sounds to fit nearly every ship. (So I expect to see many potd submissions in the near future of film re-enactments).
The balancing of the vessels in this pack is good, so you can expect adequete battles with a foe of equal size. This pack also comes in the form of a Stock and UU version. Which means it can be installed on your version of UU legacy, or just about any other install you have on your pc. This mod installs using the LM tools and gives you the option of installing it in whatever race category you like, and does it very quickly as well. A great addition from muldrf and the gang, I hope to see more.
Armada 2: background pack (part 1)
This is the first part of my background pack. I made these for the first 4 federation singleplayer missions.They will replace the stock files, if not renamed. You can use this backrounds for what ever you like, but keep in mind that these backrounds are well-matched to the light settings of the last version of the Armada II Upgrade Projekt.
These backgrounds are in very high resolution to provide an unknown level of detail. There are no seams visible (or very hardly).
New German characters, Whermacht flamethrower guys have gas masks. American raiders have gas masks, New Russian characters, Riflemen look different now, Mosinnagants have bayonets (optional), Chernov carries a g43. i figured this was a good reason for reznov to hate him even more, blood fx, Same as my previous blood mod, only with new nofatal hit, New zombie characters., Now with russians.
Somewhat glitchy. No burn fx and their legs will disappear. tested on prototype and asylum. will not work on der riese. fx problem.

I have created many custom nebulae for the Alliance Mod (http://empireatwar.filefront.com/file/Alliance_23X_Mod;114143) and wish to share my technique of making custom space nebulae with all. Adding custom space nebulae really changes the feeling of the game, it breathes new life into space combat and allows for some really cinematic moments while playing.
This is a step-by-step tutorial showing how anyone with photoshop and few free hours can create their own custom universe. Enjoy, and I look forward to seeing your work.
So, quite the imposing choice. However, Hollywood, much like his namesake, seems to be getting into the habit of deceptive advertising, this time with his icons again. There are four new heads that look noticeably -- two, drastically -- different than their iconic counterparts. Two heads have black lenses but in game they suddenly have Republic Commando cyan ones, one has an antenna, while the icon fails to display it, and there's a vice versa instance. What on earth is your process, Hollywood? O_o
Despite those oddities, still remains a solid and entertaining skinpack. However, I would recommend tweaking and retconning your material to your icons more closely next time, as nobody likes false advertising.
...and yet I find myself at a slight disadvantage, as I have yet to play Metroid: Other M, yet. This hud was allegedly sculpted to mimic the HUD you see behind the helmet of Samus Aran, famed intergalactic bounty hunter. Now, looking at this thing, yes, it looks very much like a helmet Samus would lurk behind. Very sleek interior design, and the visor leaves plenty of space to see what's going on.

Muldrf returns with an update to the LM tools suite, as the description says below, there are several new functions, bug fixes and installer features. Having used this I can say for sure that its worth the download, makes life so much easier, especially when it comes to installing other mods, saves you sifting through windows explorer if like me, you have several (5 in my case) versions of legacy.
Great to see muldrf and submissions from CJG here again.
This updated package of my mod tools includes everything from past releases: Mission Scripting Functions, Ship Testing modes (2on2 Testing), Destruction Chunk tools, Mapdatabase and MapEditor functions, Readme Library/creator which I seldom use, Odf Mass Updater, and various Odf Data Lookup tools.
It features an updated ModInstaller Packager tool. That includes bug fixes as well as some new features. Such as the ability to install ships to more than one race during installation. It also can now enter a map editor menu entry. The updated LMTools (utility) now has a Hardpoint/Joint Tree utility built in it and the package now includes a custom milkshape exporter for use specfically with the joint tool to grab the mesh group names. This utility isn't finished but it's fully functional. The final version will feature joint data importing as well as a slightly more user proof interface.

This is a small little hack by PfW_Skip that adds in all the campaign maps to the Instant Action screen. The new maps show up as duplicate names of the original ones, and only have a Conquest mode. When played, the maps go to the campaign. This is a handy addon if you are wanting to play some of the campaign missions over again, and want a small lightweight addon to do this for you.
Give it a download if you'd like to play the campaign maps whenever you want and don't already have something that does this for you.

This is a large map that I tried to fashion after the Caen area of France, larger wheat fields with less hedgerows.
This is a fantastic map trying to emulate Caen, it provides a unique feeling to the map and will definitely hit a cord with some players that either live or have driven through Caen. The map is great for many game types such as CTF, DM, TDM and S&D, with so many options of gametypes to choose from, combined with its great picturesque feel this map is surely one to have.
About the File
This is V1.1 of the Beverloo map from a few months ago. It's primarily a tank map, with wide open spaces for maneuvering in, and little cover for infantry units. The lack of chokepoints and narrow spaces also means that defensive warfare becomes near-useless, as the position can simply be outflanked.
I think my previous review sums it up nicely:

A couple of years ago I started building a map for use in RPG-X2 of something I'd had rolling around my head for a few years previously. I then got distracted by something else (university) and only recently got round to working on it some more. Although the map below wasn't quite what I'd had in mind when I started, I feel it has got to a stage where I can share it. The map is a 'main engineering' type of area. It has a warpcore, entrance to jeffries-tubes, engineer's office and an empty room (that was going to be a engineering lab of sorts). I've included a .locations file, and most major locations are pinpointed. I know that this isn't really a proper roleplay area, unless you like engineering-only roleplays, however if someone (who is building a full ship map) would like to integrate this into a larger map, I have no complaints. The .map is included in the .pk3 Enjoy...
And to be fair, even just going on how this map looks (as it has absolutely no features at all, save a sliding door), this is one of the better Engineering spaces out there.
A three sided battle has begun on Endor. The Rebels and the Empire. The Ewoks have broken off from the Rebellion. They mostly attack the Empire still but some go after the Rebels. Thleir is a secret life form on the planet that was not discovered till now.
A battle has started in New York City. The city that never sleeps will of corse be at war. The Empire and the Rebellion are fighting it out. Their are civillians all over the place. Some are siding and some are on their own. Some do not fight at all. I will work on that.

Starting in an apartment block, head through some offices to the street. Go through some warehouses and a supermarket before reaching the mall. Fight you way through a bus station and get into the sewers. Make you way through a factory to get outside of the city. Try to survive as you go through a wooded rural area before coming across a laboratory facility. Escape from here and make your way to a well defended saferoom to end the beta.

Here is a control point map that is based upon a base on the moon, aside from the obvious (i.e. no air but that isn't important since its only a game!) this map is brilliant, all of the checkpoints are all inside and this map does very effectively show what a moon base should look like. The inside and outside areas have been very well made and this does show in the map, and the author has worked very hard at this map. There are a lot of small areas which are perfect for those ambushes or even for a hit and run or something as simple as charging the enemy.
Overall however this map has been brilliantly made and definately adds more to the game especially with a space based map rather than another one based on the earth. Aside from the no air in space part which doesn't really matter this map is brilliant and definately recommended for everyone to at least try

Here is a Control Point map based upon a starship, unlike the other space maps this one is completely inside with both. This is a non-linear control point map set on a ship in space. Each team starts on opposite ends of the map, the first team to capture the enemy's dock point wins.
In order to capture the dock point a team only needs two out of the three middle points. After capture, the middle points will auto-lock for 45 seconds before opening back up again. This prevents points from getting continuously scout rushed immediately after capture.
The bonus point (Sewers) grants a team forward respawns if the own both it and the Engine or Bridge. Additionally it is the only point that grants a team a respawn time bonus. This map is very large and due to its non-linear nature it is highly recommended that it be played on servers of 24 - 32 people.

Here is a Capture the Flag Map that is based upon a small moon base, well two - one for the blu team and another for the reds. This map is a fairly small map with only a low gravity dome connecting between the two main bases which does make it more realistic being on the moon. The map itself has been very well made and is a welcome change I think to all of the land based maps that are around, although while it can cope with 32 players at once its probably for the best that you go for less players mainly because this can quite quickly lead to a stalemate!
Here is the Venture class Vessel USS Affirmation its a refitted version of the venture its design to be for the normal star trek era, it has new engs and has been resized to the size of the galaxy class ship. sadly this ship is not MVAM. I hope people enjoy this as much the Venture class model. The ship comes with no Registry so feel free to add your own

Here is the Aerosur version of the Boeing 727-230 a fairly detailed and very well made aircraft that will replace the at 400 or any other aircraft of your choice withn GTA San Andreas. This aircraft doesn't come with any custom handling or any other choice of colours and does look fairly accurate when compared to the real life version (well pictures off the internet). This does make a welcome addition to GTA San Andreas for those that are from Bolivia
Behold =_= an assassin who is crazeh. This is, in actuality, a rather enormous, yet simple skinpack in its own right. Basically, what we're given is a huge Quinlan Vos Reskin. The main basis of the skin is an armored suit gentleman with a strange electrical shader engulfing his suit. There are robed and hooded variations of each set of skins. I'd go through all the colors for you, but perhaps it's simply best if you take a look for yourself =_o.
Thankfully, this enormous set of skins can be offset by using the species menu, thus making it slightly easier to create the combination you desire. The general overall quality of these skins is actually very high. The face texture is generally agreeable, the armor is pretty well done, and there aren't very many bugs. I will say that the unarmored versions have a strange deforming with the left arm when you taunt, but that's not at the fault of the skinner. There are a few holes in the back of the robe's texture, however, that I think could be fixed. They're not very visible unless you really look, though, so they're not that big of a deal.
Now, I've never played KOTOR 2. Doubt I ever will, either, but point is, I've never seen Darth Boogeyman's hilt before. Interestingly enough, it seems rather humble, and could easily be mistaken for a Jedi's hilt. A very rounded design, with a bell emitter, this thing is pretty nice to behold. There's not much in the way of color, very basic chrome, with the only deviation being the red activator button. The only attempts to make it decorative are the pommel band near the bottom and a strange engraving around the top of the weapon.
All around, this weapon is pretty well made. Nice model, nice texture, AND it's shadered. I think there's not much to complain about here. That being said, I'll shut up and let you all look at the pichurs. Bai now.

Most excellent! Tis' good to see some more New Jedi Order era mods at the moment, and here we have our latest one, Tenel Ka's Rancor Tooth Lightsaber Hilt!
According to the EU, the hilt was made from two of the teeth of Tenel Ka's grandmothers Rancor which had recently died (why anyone would want a pet like a Rancor I’m not quite sure, to be honest my idea of a pet is something that wont try to eat you). Looking at the reference pictures for the hilt in that article I can see straight away that it is definitely up to Ashura's usual excellent standard. The model is excellent, although the tooth rim around the top is a bit jagged and sharp, and could probably do with being a little more rounded and bumpy as per the pictures. The textures are also most impressive and are themselves as close to the actual look of the hilt in the pictures as I think it is possible to get.

This is my first mod, so if there is any issues please leave a comment and I'll fix it ASAP.
To start off the time spent dealing with smoothing errors, texture problems and all the other problems seem to have paid off. The textures look great in any version of the game, the specular highlights are smooth and as many people have commented with AFB's deflector design, suits the ship well.
Weapons wise its exactly what you expect from a ship 25 years in the future. High powered phasers and photon torpedoes, both of which come in high recharge and quantities respectively, so you'll never be out of ammunition in the middle of a battle, (great, just what the klingons need, an ally with a ship that has weapons that don't run out ) for those looking to get some fantastic screen shots with this ship, you will be pleased to hear that the weapon hard-pointing is sound, as shown by the recent POTD, there is some excellent opportunities to get the main phaser canon firing proudly in your shot.
However this is by no means a god ship, while it will dispatch most larger vessels in the trek universe, for example your Romulan Warbirds, and Neg'var battleships, as seen in the episode. However there will always be the occasional foe that it struggles with, Borg Cubes, Species 8472 and a few well placed shots from the Romulan Heavy Battlecruiser will give the Galaxy X a run for its money, but be sure not to get too confident, if you really want to try your luck against a tactical cube, be sure to be travelling at warp as you pass it, or upgrade before you do!

I don't get to go to all these cons like you and your cohorts do.
And I haven't seen any decent Halo news to report on for a while since I only visit B.net, and the most they get there are playlist updates.

For gods sakes, I NEED the TFU2 demo for PC D: In USA and Australia it's been on Xbox Live for 6 hours now... I NEED IT! IN EUROPE! AND ON PC!
