Welcome to all for the fourth version of the Filefront Network Update - Files Section the second part of the weekly news post. The Files part of the Weekly update includes the latest Files that has been posted on the Network Sites over the past week including many different Modifications, Mini Mods, Skins, Vehicles, Starships or even lightsabers as well as much more!
This week however there were five new large modifications including a big Mod for Battlefield Vietnam, a big sound modification for Call of Duty, a large modification for Supreme Commander including new features as well as an improved weapons modification for the Star Wars Empire at War: Forces of Corruption expansion and much more. There have been a fair few map files from all of the network sites usual, as well as much more, all of which can be found below!
Just like the former Insider we would still like your suggestions Remember; if you see something that you would like to be added to the Insider, or you have any suggestions that you think may improve the Network Update then simply drop me an email at Danny[at]alienworlds[dot]net (please put "Network Update" as the subject though ). More Battlefield Vietnam: FileFront's Battlefield Vietnam Files Call of Duty: CoD and CoD:UO Sound-Pack
This mod changes/enhances most of the sounds for CoD and CoD:UO. As in v1.0 the initial crack of some of the weapons is similar, and most of the weapons now have a ring-off or decay that is a little more like weapons fire. Also included is a small mod that changes the explosion sounds for the tank and bazooka rounds to use the mortar explosion sounds. See the read-me for details on additional changes.

More Call of Duty: FileFront's Call of Duty Files Empire at War: Canon Mod 3.1 Patch
Basically this mod will just adjust the units and gameplay of FoC to make it more canon to Star Wars lore. At the moment it will only be space. This means all ships will be rescaled and the amounts and types of weapons will be increased in order to try and bring them to spec. This is not meant to balance the game, but to make it more "realistic". There will be no fancy new ships or stunning new graphics (yet), just a difference in gameplay that will hopefully mimic the style and action of the films.

More Empire at War: FileFront's Empire at War Files Jedi Knight III: Jedi Academy Update
Kind of like the Jedi Outcast Update, only better. Retains some of the features offered for JO, but adds effects, sounds, and music that was not available for the original package. Enjoy!
This includes restoring original sounds for certain JK2 characters(including desann, the shadowtroopers, jan, ACTUAL Reelo Baruk sounds, bespin cop, etc,) some REALLY great vehicle sounds(loved 'em so much I'm keepin 'em,) and of course some other fun goodies like lightsaber effects, pistol effects, what have you, as well as -- like Noob explained -- everything that the JO Update offered.
Now, what would have been great is if you could have restored the old reborn sounds and threw in the old colors as well. That's definitely something this pack was missing, but considering you can probably get like 10 copies of that around here, it's no big deal. All in all, it's one solid as hell pack, and worth every Megabit. A stellar job, J.N.. You definitely hit it out of the park with this pack, far as I'm concerned.
In a nutshell: UEF got bigger and badder, with nukecannon, experimental shield, resource generator, stardestroyer - Cybran have invisibility fields, resource giving router systems - Aeon got teleported - buildings, and units with this ability can be stopped by anti-teleport towers only - Seraphim have lambda shields, teleporting engineers (the only side who haven't got flying ones), and a manual necro tower
A lot of surprises.

This mod is for those who like actual recordings and the distant 'pop' 'friecracker' sound that guns make during combat. Mod really works well with rendrocs warzone mod.

More Empire at War: FileFront's Empire at War Files Jedi Knight III: Illidan's Stance Mod
Public service announcement: bagels given out freely due to lack of witty one-liner introductions may contain poison. Today, Illidan Kazama brings us a stance mod - who doesn't love them? I, for one, don't, but then, I guess I'm just too used to the default animations. A simple mod which changes the medium, dual and staff saber stance to three custom made stances. The stances look more steady and don't resemble combat stances that much.Next time i will make them a bit smoother and add a meele, strong and fast stance too.
Basically, my job has been done for me here - new medium, dual and staff stances, my main problem with which is the fact that they don't look like combat stances that much. Honestly, they're too rigid in my opinion, making one look like a plank instead of a fighter. There might be those who disagree though. On the bright side, Illidan has promised to make them smoother and add more in a next version
With this mod you can open the serverbrowser, create an own server and watch a demo while you're ingame. Although you're leaving the game if you're watching the demo or create an own game (obviously). Thats hardcoded and not fixable. It's just a small fix to the mod Ive released in 2007. The old version had some small issues, which I fixed now. For example sometimes you couldnt open the menu and there were also some graphical issues Ive fixed. You can also use it, if youre playing japlus or any other mod. Just copy the file to your mod folder (like gamedata/japlus for example).
So, for those too lazy to read that, this release fixes several small issues with the previous release, and allows you to open the server browser, server creation menu or demo watching menu whilst ingame. I do have one gripe with this mod: when I open any of these (for instance the server browser) using this mod and then hit escape, it gets me stuck on the main menu with no way out. Hitting the back button works just fine, but hitting escape gets you stuck and forces you to reconnect.

More Jedi Knight III: FileFront's Jedi Knight III Files Knights of the Old Republic II: Andrei's Rebalanced Classes And Gameplay Enhancement (ARCAGE)
A lot of people feel that KotOR2:TSL is way too easy, especially once you're around level 20. There are a few mods aiming to make the game more difficult by increasing health points of opponents and such, but none of them really adds something to the game in my opinion. ARCAGE doesn't increase the potency of the enemies, but rather decreases the potency of the player and the party. This also leads to more specialization - know how you can build up a Sentinel with 20 points in every skill by level 25 who can cast Force powers all day long and is still a kick-ass fighter? That won't be possible in ARCAGE.
A rather unique feature of ARCAGE are attribute prerequisites for feats. For instance Master Two-Weapon Fighting requires STR 20 and DEX 20. In addition, some of the feats have been rebalanced - e.g. the Dueling feat chain has been made "cheaper" than the Two-Weapon Fighting feat chain to make it a more attractive alternative. On top of that a lot of feats have been made class- and level-independent.
The skills system has been overhauled, introducing a mix of K1 and K2. Automatic HP regeneration has been removed and the Heal powers rely on Treat Injury skill rather than level.

More Knights of the Old Republic II: FileFront's Knights of the Old Republic II Files Knights of the Old Republic: Shaelas is a Merchant
This is a modification that transforms a normal, helpless Selkath into a weapons merchant. His inventory consists of varied types of blasters, swords, armors, energy shields, medpacks, and other things. Since you encounter him on Manaan, which is a planet people normally don't go to first, the weapons do a considerable amount a damage. However, there are no lightsabers or robes, so this normally will be supplying to Carth, Canderous, and other non-Jedi party members. Also, no unique/quest-related items are included in his little shop.
It may seem a bit strange, because if you say "I'm not here to discuss the Sith" when he asks your opinion, it will automatically go to the shop after his "very well". This means that the next time you speak to him, he will mention Shasa, his daughter, when you never even talked about her. It doesn't matter much, but he has no inventory stands set up or anything. It won't affect him in any way, but you "inventory stand" lovers won't enjoy the issue. However, I don't think any merchant-transforming mods actually have an inventory stand beside the new merchant, so I'm not worried.

Armada 2: Kansas-Class
Real-world Description - This is the mesh for the Kansas-Class, specifically the USS Kansas NX-75000. There are two versions included, a high quality one and a medium quality one. This is an idea that I had for a post-nemesis Federation starship. I designed her to be a light battleship, but in keeping with Starfleet tradition, I class her as a heavy cruiser. The general specifications are that she is about
as long as a Sovereign-Class and made to resemble late 23rd century styling.
More Armada 2: FileFront's Armada 2 Files Armada 2: Prometheus class
This is the edited version of the Prometheus class. The crash problem with version 1.0 had to do with the ODF file of the from. Now the seperationweapon works fine. I have added some details in my textures, as it was hard to make out where the torpedolaunchers were placed. In her normal mode, the ship has 4 tt, all in the gamma section. In assault mode, the alpha unit activates 2 forward tubes, the same as on the beta unit. All 3 sections in assault mode have now 8 tubes.
KNOWN ISSUE - There could be a problem when using the seperation weapon. The game might crash. I hope somebody can find what is wrong. If so, please contact me at: The fusion weapon works fine. Make a backup of your existing files, just to be on the safe side!

Note to Public: The last thing you want to do is harass us on Xfire asking about when your file's going to be taken care of. That will just earn you scorn and revocation of porn. Now then, Suibuku has decided to make a skin of the prisoner model, probably the secondmost reskinned model in JA next to Reborns. Prisoner man has become some kind of knight-ish looking android, sporting an undersuit with metal plating all over...and a metal head. On closer inspection, it appears that there are some darker metals present, but from afar it's really difficult to see.
In terms of texture and conceptual quality, pretty damn good, though I must confess I'm a little confused by the concept. An android is basically a machine in the form of a man, but this skin doesn't seem to be fully metal, or seems to be...wearing armor? It's really hard to say what's going on here because of the uneven distribution of plating on the legs or the metal head. Part of me wanted to be like "CYBORG!" but then I'd look like an idjit ...more so than usual. Team skins are kinda murky, but they get the job done. Thankfully this thing has shopped reborn sounds so you can at least enjoy metallic sounds emitting from your android as he...does things.
Description:This is supposed to look like Darth Nihl's lightsaber from the Legacy comics, I have wanted to make it for a while now, so when I saw the JK3Files November sith saber modeling contest, I decided now was a good time to start. I also included an alpha of the my new saber blades that I'm working on for RotS, and another pk3 for SP support.
Good work for the authors first ever hilt..

Model and textures could do with a little more detail.
A second bugged blade is floating around characters legs.
So, AshuraDX has sculpted a replica of the hilt(s) wielded by our cleverly marketed icon and new community deity, Galen Merak. The hilts remind me distantly of the default Praetor hilt, but they seem to maintain a degree of appeal and accuracy to their reference material. They look good, I won't lie about that. They definitely have a nice humble design about them, and look like they won't be too much of a resource hog(in the small way that sabers can be, that is.) I'd say the real genius lies in how he markets this thing.
It's clear to me Ash knew from the start people were going to want that diversity offered by TFU2's backhand wielding marketing tool, so we have a standard handed version for those of us who like treating our lightsabers like actual swords, and a backhand version. The backhand version alone functions as a one-bladed staff, BUT...he left out enough restrictions so that you, as a standard player, can indeed wield two backhand sabers with impunity, and you can still throw the right hander, so basically, y'got nothing lost. Combine this with some VERY easy and memorable saber names, and you got yourself a very difficult weapon to simply pass up.

Here are four skins for the axis, based off of a probable existence of a Sharpshooting Division used in the German army during world war 2. I have no information on this and it probably sounds strange anyways but these were just made for fun. Two wear brown uniforms and two wear green uniforms. The two in the green have backpacks with straps. All have first person sleeves and everything else you'd expect from a proper skinpack. I've had these in my main folder for quite a while now and hadn't really done much more with them nor was I planning to. But here they are uploaded and ready for your criticism. Have fun!

Another bizarre ship from Rudianos, this time a smaller version of the Fesarius, the Emilius! This ship contains only 4 major yellow segments and acts as a spawn ship that detaches from the Fesarius. The same issues arise for me with this, as the Fesrius, however. The ship stands out because its big, bright and unspectacular. However, they fit in suit with the Fesarius, and are balanced quite well. Its good to see new races added into the game. A definite download alongside the Fesarius

Battle for Middle Earth 2: ROTWK: helms deep
This is my first and probably the best map that I have mapped to long. It took some time, but I think the work has paid off. I wish you much fun playing on the Middle Earth never sets ;-)
- Position 2 should take over the AI, since the sun can cause a transmission error.
- The lowest point (attacker) should always be set with an AI
- The hero is created only for the good site for disposal
- Heroes and units have had changes
- Completely revised Spell Books
- In the str-file, the language can be changed
Thanks to a dear at this point to the community of "modding Union", which helped me solve some problems.
Company of Heroes: Majorcamo's Map Pack 1 About the file
Majorcamo brings us not one but 3 maps for your Skirmish and Multiplayer enjoyment.
Continuing his promising start, Majorcamo has learned from previous mistakes. Getting the bad things aside first - well, rather constructive critism - texture and object placement could still use some improvement, using the height-tool more frequently would improve the tactical depth too.
However, the improvements are visible and I strongly encourage you to continue creating maps.
Maps included are:
- Slaughter Field (German supply base to be conquered or defended)
- Body Count (D-Day style map)
- Rhine (Based on the city of Remagen, famous for its bridge)

It's official: I have run out of witty one-liners to use as introductions. May I instead offer you a bagel? Regardless, today we have the second map Jhey has released, being: Basically, an uncompleted map of a mansion situated on an island. The map has a small maze under the main building, and features a small dock also. Now, before moving on, it has to be said - I like the idea of this map. Islands are always nice, and the screenshots do make this map look pretty neat. First off, the good.
This map has a very stable FPS, some very nice shapes (the glass domes for instance) and some very nice use of textures. The atmosphere here is very nice, though I would welcome a change of background music I also quite liked what you did with both the dock and the beach in general.
Unfortunately, in the author's own words... there are quite a few mistakes, mainly because I have given up on this map, and consider it quite an achievement and wanted to share with the community.

My latest radiant project is completed. It is a high rise building with lots of stories. There are two working elevators, staircases, vents, lots of hiding places, custom textures, etc etc etc etc. Lots of gametypes can be played: DM TDM CTF CCTF INF DEM and ELIM. In ELIM mode red team and blue team are separated on two closed rooftops to make it fun sniping.
NOTE! If you take screenshots you might recieve an error from the game and will be dropped from the server you are playing on. To prevent this from happening you can set your hunkmegs from 45 to 128. (that worked for me) To do this you can enter the console with the tilde (`) key and enter /seta com_hunkmegs 128 and press enter. You might need to restart your game to make this change.
More Soldier of Fortune 2: FileFront's Soldier of Fortune 2 Files Star Wars Battlefront 2: Dueling FFA Map
This map, by Demon_of_Razgriz, is pretty bare bones. It is advertised as a map for dueling, with three different arenas with different sorts of terrain. It is a fairly common first map, with default sky, lots of objects scattered around, and minimal terrain edits. There's only one gamemode, which is Hero Assault, and there is no bot pathing so SP is virtually unplayable. The map author gets around this by stating that the map is only for multiplayer, but pathing is always useful regardless of the map's intended purpose.
In short, this is a pretty standard first map- not a lot of features, missing some essentials, lots of stuff we've seen before. If you like dueling or something and would like a map for it, then this might be for you. Otherwise, give it a download if the screenshots look interesting.

More Star Wars Battlefront 2: FileFront's Star Wars Battlefront 2 Files Star Wars Battlefront 2: Polus: Port District 1.1
Jerbot77 returns today with Polus: Port District, a map taking place on the planet Polus, which is a snowy and mountainous planet. This map is neither of these, and is in fact an urban map! It's basically a network of streets centered around a small foresty-park thing, with a hangar at the top and a tunnel network at the bottom. The map is pretty well designed. It has a bunch of streets laid out, and is mostly just a slightly reorganized and reskinned Mos Eisley. The streets are pretty open and there isn't much cover out in the middle, though there is a lot on the sides so you can hide behind there if you so desire. In the middle of the map there is a foresty area where there are a lot of hiding places. One thing's for sure- there are a lot of people on the map at once, making it hard to find anywhere to hole up and forcing you to be constantly moving around.
Visually, the map is very consistent- everything keeps the same color scheme for the most part and it all works together well to provide a nice visual experience. The skies and mountains in the background make it a very nice and enclosed feeling map. From a placement standpoint, I guess a little more cover in the streets would be good, but it's fine as is. There were no floating objects I noticed. The bushes in the foresty part had collision, which may or may not be intentional. Regardless, it was slightly annoying. There was also a minimap, which I really like to see!

More Star Wars Battlefront 2: FileFront's Star Wars Battlefront 2 Files Star Wars Battlefront 2: Rhen Var Ravine
modmaster13 is here today with this map, called Rhen Var: Ravine. As the title implies, it is on the snow planet of Rhen Var and features a rather large ravine in the center of the map. Gameplay takes place at four CPs around the edge of the ravine, which takes up the vast majority of the map and is located at the center. Each side gets one control point at opposing sides of the ravine, with two CPs midway along the other two edges of the ravine. The map is also very big, which means that it can take quite a while to make your way from your start to the opponent's start. There's some structures at the starting CPs, though there really isn't anything in them worth exploring.
Moving onto the suggestions portion of the review; there are a couple things I would suggest. First, make the ravine have a death region, so those who fall will die regardless. Secondly, make it clearer on the minimap where exactly the ravine is, since I fell in after spawning because I didn't know where to go. Thirdly, ground a lot of your objects, since there were a lot of floating ones. The buildings were most notable for this, though I noticed some flying CPs too. Fourth, change the sky from Yavin! Fifth, make the map a little smaller, as currently it's a bit too big and spread out. It needs to be a little more condensed. Sixth, include some screenshots next time! I took a couple for you, but next time you ought to do it.

After the undead Scourge and the Burning Legion lost the war of the World Tree and the demonic warlock Archimonde was destroyed by Nordrassil in a colossal blast of energy, the Alliance of Orcs, Humans and Nightelves leaded by Thrall, Jaina Proudmoore and Furion Stormrage formed up their army again to chase every single undead still standing after this epic battle. The Lichking and a small group of loyal warriors escaped founding a new base in the frosty Alterac Mountains but orcish farseers found and surrounded them, sending never ending troops to conquer the undead basis and finally kill the Lichking. Decide wether you fight on the undead side, building towers and hiring special units or support the pact of the Alliance and the Horde, standing side by side with huge troops of brave soldiers. With new allies and long forgotten heroes the last battle has begun and it only depends on you who gains the victory.

1-5 players, 50 levels. 5 bosses. It is a very original mazing TD. There is 3 checkpoints the creeps must reach( spawn and end). Unlike similar maps you have very little room to build on, so position every tower/macing rock carefully. The map is made so that you can leave it any time you want, because you decides when the next wave will spawn, and which kind of wave. You can choose between 4 different builders, each with 4 basic towers that can be upgraded to other towers with various abilities. All builders can also build the 4 powerful pets.
