Welcome to all for the seventh version of the Gamefront Network Update - Files Section the second part of the weekly news post. The Files part of the Weekly update includes the latest Files that has been posted on the Network Sites over the past week including many different Modifications, Mini Mods, Skins, Vehicles, Starships and more. This weeks big mods include a total conversion modification for Star Trek Armada 2, as well as a big mod for each of the GTA Games (including HD Cars for GTA 3, Back to the Future for Vice City, Stargate for San Andreas and a HD Car Pack for GTA IV!). There are also big mods for Elite Force 2 (Captain Proton Mod), as well as Half Life, Halo and KOTR.

Armada 2: Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations
We are happy to announce that we have a new patch ready for public release - 3.1.4.
The newest patch for Fleet Operations can be seen as a foundation for a future patch. We decided to release 3.1.4 early on and pulled some bigger features we initially planned for this release, we'd like to invest more time into before giving them to you.

Croesus, who did a outstanding job for Fleet Operations in the past as voice actor now joined us as a full staff member. Some of his latest work can be heard in this patch in the form of new voice sets. On the subject of audio..have you heard the name FMOD Ex? No? I am sure you still have heard of it already. FMOD Ex is the sound engine being used in games like Starcraft II, Bioshock, Crysis and many others. Thanks to it's developers making FMOD Ex available to non-commercial projects, Fleet Operations now uses the very same engine as replacement for the flawed and now outdated sound system that Armada 2 came with.

That is not all. The fighter ship AI has been vastly improved. Fighters do now directly support their fighter carriers. Fighter stay much closer to their carriers and attack what their carrier attacks. Also many new interesting balancing changes are part of this patch including a lot of new officer abilities or repair ship usage. I can only recommend you read in the changelog below for some details.

Bridge Commander: Sovereign001 HQ planet textures 1.0
Here is Sovereign 001's HD Planet Texture pack, this will change most of the planets within the game to that of textures of a much higher definition, bigger than 4096x4096 which will mean that you will need a very good graphics card to run them. These new planet textures include better clouds, better atmospheres and a lot better than the stock versions of the same planets, infact you could probably go as far as saying almost photo realistic!. However be warned however the file size of the modification is over 800MB!

Stock planets in bridge commander were nice, in the beginning.. Beautiful mods like kobayashimaru, solaris (sun mod), etc.. were starting to obliterate the old planets. Screenshots with planets were almost a no go, because of the bad textures.. This texture mod will change that.

Images of planets are taken of Google Images of a texture size of more than 4096pixels large. SO yes, this will ask a strong gfx card, but no worries, your pc will not explode. The nano fx that is included with the big mods like kobayashimaru is also altered in this mod. Creating better clouds and atmosphere!

Elite Force: Captain Proton Mod (Part 1 of 4)
In what is likely to be one of the last Elite Force single player outings, I am proud to present the Captain Proton Mod by legendary modder Laz Rojas. Rojas, of [i[Starbase 11 and Starfleet Tournament fame has expanded on the official expansion pack's single Captain Proton mission, including some brand new missions complete with new weapons and enemies, a model of Proton's rocket ship and even small moments outside the holodeck on Voyager where you can listen to the likes of Tom Paris and Harry Kim discussing women. But who am I to describe this? Let us hear from the creator:

]The Captain Proton Mod is a single-player modification for Raven's Star Trek Voyager Elite Force and the Elite Force Expansion Pack. It is based on the metafictional holonovel "The Adventures of Captain Proton" that was featured on various episodes of Star Trek Voyager, including "Night", "Thirty Days", "Bride of Chaotica", and "Shattered". The mod assumes that after Voyager returned to Earth, Tom Paris wrote various Captain Proton holonovels which were published by Broht & Forrester, the same company which published the EMH's opus "Photons Be Free" in the episode "Author, Author".

The Captain Proton Mod includes several episodes that span multiple maps, each of them a separate chapter in the Captain Proton saga. Familiar characters seen on Star Trek Voyager appear, such as Dr. Chaotica, Queen Arachnia, Buster Kincaid, Constance Goodheart, Satan's Robot, Lonzak, and the President of Earth. There are many new characters as well, some friendly, some not so friendly. And there are lots of new models too, including rocket ships and weapons. Among the new weapons are the ray gun brandished by Lonzak and Chaotica's guards in "Bride of Chaotica", as well as a more accurate Proton gun than the one included in the Expansion Pack.

Grand Theft Auto Vice City: Back to the Future: Hill Valley for GTA Vice City
Here is the Back to the Future: Hill Valley modification for GTA Vice City. This modification is obviously based upon the Back to the Future films and includes the Delorean, an Unmodified Delorean and the Steam train, both the Delorean and the Steam Train can fly as well as go back in time. Unfortunately at the moment this appears to be only changing between different times of the day, although it does include very similar effects to those seen in the films when either reach 88 Mph. Other bonuses include unexpected effects if your car / train is damaged while travelling through time or perhaps the nth dimension.

Back to the Future: Hill Valley is a full conversion mod for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Back to the Future: Hill Valley will be based on the Back to the Future Trilogy, allowing the player to re-enact all the great moments from the films. While some parts of the story are stretched to make it more enjoyable, we are determined not to stray too far from the original story-line. The people behind this mod want the community to relive the movies and have as much fun in the process as possible. With the outstanding game play of the Sandbox hit, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, in combination with one of the best movies of all time, Back to the Future, this mod is sure to bring countless hours of fun to anybody who enjoyed the movies.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas: STARGATE Horizon Of the Universe
Here is a Stargate SG-1 based modification for GTA San Andreas. The mod itself includes the main part of the program a stargate, which in the game will actually transport you to other planets where you can find ships including the Ha'tak and Death Glider. There are also other space ships available in the mod including an F302, BC303 (Prometheus) and the Puddle Jumper (Ancient Ship from SG Atlantis)./ There are also a "Tel'tac" cargo vessel as well as an "Al'Kesh" mid range bomber both from the Goa'uld side which both look brilliant in san andreas. All of these are completely flyable in the game and even go into space and even other planets!

The weapons from Stargate are also included with this modification including a Goa'Uld Staff Weapon, Zat'Nik'Ktel, Goa'Uld Staff Canon, FN P90 and the MP5. Although the Goa'uld weapons only fire projectiles unfortunately but they do look brilliant in the game itself however!. This modification also includes the SGC as well as several other planets that can be either dialed to via the stargate as well as a few easter eggs (which you will have to find yourself wink

Grand Theft Auto IV: Real Cars For GTA 4 v0.4
Here is a huge car modification for GTA IV containing a lot of cars which will replace most of the stock verions of the cars in game. This pack contains at least one car from most brands around the world including Aston Martin, Jaguar, Volkswagen, Audi, Ford, Lexus, Ferrari, Masarati, Toyota, Dodge, Lamborghini and more. There are a lot of sports cars included as well as hatchbacks, MPVs, Pickup trucks and more. However you will need a clean version of GTA IV to install this modification and it will only work in single player mode.

This modification will make GTA IV a lot more realistic where it will have real life named cars, although not completely realistic since I doubt you would see this many tuned sports cars in Liberty City / New York though really!

Half Life: Action Half Life: Directors Cut 2
Action Half Life is designed to simulate the experience of being in an Action movie. Movies like Hard Boiled, Face Off, and Die Hard are the inspiration for AHL. AHL aims for something called 'Movie Realism.' This means that you can take a few bullets and keep fighting. You can fall from a two story roof and only hurt your leg. You can bandage a wound in seconds. This doesn't mean you're invincible however, as hits to the head from large caliber weapons are instantly fatal, but a headshot even from a small pistol will put you within an inch of your life. Of course, stunts play a large part in action movies, and likewise, play a large part in AHL. Dives, rolls, and long jumps can be executed for style and tactical advantage. There's nothing quite like diving through a window and capping the bad guy in the head before you hit the ground. This is a game of style and fun, not obsessive realism.

AHL: Directors Cut is a project started by the Ministry of Action. The ministry is a group of people who still enjoy AHL and think that it has a life ahead of it.

Halo: ODST Campaign lvl 2
Can I just say, for starters, that I now really hate rocks with a passion. Because of this mod, I’ll be cursing at rocks until the day I die, or the day I retire, whichever comes first. And you'll see why at the beginning of this mission. That aside, this is a pretty solid alteration of the 2nd mission ("Halo"). Fun, and very tough at the same time, you play an ODST who must have body armour thinner than paper. That’s what you get for cutbacks in the UNSC military budget.

It plays pretty much the same as the default level, but here, as you will no doubt have noticed, you are not a one man army like the Master Chief was. You need to depend on stealth and cunning to pass this mission. Otherwise, you will not pass it. Simple as that. Do not swap out your pistol for another weapon. Your pistol will be your best friend on this. Don't get me wrong, the ramped up difficulty isn't a bad thing. It actually makes the mission feel like a bit more of an award for perseverance when you finish it. I'm just saying that it is a bit of a challenge to pass it. There are a couple of first person view glitches, specifically with the ammo and health status readouts. The original health bar now seems to overlap the ammo bar when you have a pistol and SMG, although it seemed to change to the opposite side of the screen when I swapped the SMG for a Needler (these needles hurt ALOT in this mod). That is the only instance I noticed the glitch.

Knights of the Old Republic: KOTOR Ultimate Gameplay Rebalance
SithLord_Darkon brings us a very extensive modification for the original Knights of the Old Republic game which aims to completely completely re-balance the way that the game is played. This literally changes many of the mechanics of the Knights of the Old Republic from your PC and parties characteristics to the enemies they face to the armour you and your party wear. The author says from the first Sith Troopers you face on the Endar Spire to Darth Malak on the Star Forge, the enemies you will fight have all be individual changed.

Essentially the point of this mod is to fundamentally change the KotOR experience for the player, and the author aims to remove various facets of game-play which had annoyed them. In scope this is a massive modification for the game, and as such proves somewhat difficult to review. The author must be praised for the scope and aim of this modification, if you will like it will depend on what you of course think of the original vanilla game mechanics. If your looking for a challenge and more realistic combat then this modification may well be for you.

I shall quote the author to further explain the aims of the mod; "This mod aims to completely change the mechanics of playing KOTOR. Extensive modifications are made to almost every area of the game, including but not limited to: areas, weapons, armour, characters, feats, Force powers, style of game-play. Most areas of the game are altered, and every single character you get to fight is modified. The mod also adds new weapons, enemies, and much more... comprehensive list of details in Readme."

Bridge Commander: VOY Endgame Shuttle Bridge
As a preview/taster of forthcoming Christmas bridge releases (Runabout Bridges Pack featuring DS9 early and late season variants, and Shuttle Bridge Pack featuring ST5 Galileo/TNG Type 6/Voyager Type 8 and Type 9), here is Admiral Janeway's SC4 shuttle interior from the series finale Endgame. Like Janeway, player is only crew on board in pilot seat but (silent) crew menus still accessible via F1-5 keys.

Call of Duty 2: Firing through walls
Hello all, This is my mod enabling you to fire through walls in cod2. This is the lite version, without some features like:
Shotgun support
MG42 Support
Shooting through multiple walls support

Aside from this, the mod works just great. In order to make it work with other weapons, you have to add some to the switch() in the _wallfire.gsc file. You can use this mod in one of your mods, or change it, as long as i am credited in the readme file AND in some menu. In order to install the mod, just copy it to your main folder. To remove, just remove it from that folder again.

Dawn of War Soulstorm: Capture The Flag Mod
Hey guys, I found this on my HDD from some time ago. It's the last version of the win condition mod which fixes the necron economy bug so that you can now actually win an economic victory - hurrah! I used something that relic has never done, which is that I've changed the victory amount to be variable depending on the number of players, so the more players, the higher the amount you need. This sadly won't fix the problem with playing Colony as the necrons as that's more a problem with the engine being told to do things it really shouldn't.

I'm not sure I ever posted about why the terrain maps were altered. Basically there is no way to lose in Soulstorm - its impossible as the AI will not attack your HQ. In fact its really hard to make it not just dither between two territories constantly. I've cheated by creating 'tunnels' and upping the AI aggression so that now there is a chance, albeit small, that your HQ will now be attacked, which triggers a HQ defence map. Having made the maps it would be rude not to, right? Sorry if it's not perfect, but I think it adds more than it removes overall.

I'm posting this now as occasionally people ask for links to bits of this (such as today), so it would be great if you guys have the final version. I don't mod DoW anymore, although I am hoping to update the unofficial survival mod as and when new races come out, so I will see you then!

Empire at War: KotOR mod patch
This update packs quite a punch for less than 6 MB. Although still not perfect, it's getting better with every release/update (as it should). The balancing issues in particular have been addressed nicely. You need the full version 0.9 before you can use this update. You can get it here.

This patch for my KotOR mod fixes several bug and rebalances the space mode. It also brings some new units and changed scalings.
Please remember, this is a patch so you need the 0.9 full version to play it.

Empire at War: tactical battles improvement mod
I've made it no secret that I have an affinity for Command and Conquer. The originals more so than the newer ones. So this mod made me really excited. After playing it, still just as excited. Although this has been done to a smaller extent in some mega-mods, this is thorough and complete. The only real drawback, is that it's only for GC (hopefully there will be a release for skirmish).

You're allowed to build an MCV that can roll around until you deploy it as a crane. Then it allows you to purchase and build buildings near it. Additionally, you can then purchase units from those buildings like in skirmish. The AI doesn't take advantage of any of this, so find a friend to exploit. A similar function can be found in space combat. Space stations get the ability to place build pads that can be made into various structures that can produce units in the middle of battle. This changes the dynamic of the game in a very good way.

Please note that it would probably be best if you had a clean verison of GTA 3 to install this mod, it will work with other mods installed. You will need to have IMG Tool V2 or the San Andreas Mod Installer to install this mod.

Knights of the Old Republic: Character Start Up Changes
jonathan7 brings us a mod which tweaks the class starting feats and skills for KotOR. To start, jon has made Persuade a class skill for all three starting classes, since only the player can use this skill. The next thing the mod does is to remove all the preset feats the player is given on startup, and replaces them with freely selectable feats.

The number is differs between the classes: soldiers get the most, followed by Scouts and then scoundrels. In effect, the player ends up with the same number of feats as they would with the unmodded game, but now has a free choice of which feats they get. The only preset feats still remaining are Implant Level 1 for Scouts, Scoundrels Luck, and others of that kind which are either automatically granted to the player or are added as bonuses as the player levels up. jonathan strongly suggests that the user selects either melee or ranged specialisation at startup, if you want to be able to use weapons in combat. The mod uses the TSLPatcher, for ease of compatibility.

The changes this mod makes are pretty small-scale in all, and perhaps not the most taxing in terms of modding skill. But what they do exemplify is carefully thought-through modding, and their effect on gameplay should not be underestimated. They won't turn the game's mechanics on their head, but they do increase the ability to personalise and specialise when building a character, which is a major part of what RPGs are about, after all. If there's anything to disagree with, granting Persuade as a class skill to all classes might be seen to run counter to the idea of specialisation, but this is a small part of the mod in all. If you've ever felt that KotOR needed more specialisation, or were frustrated by being lumbered with feats at startup that were of no use to you, this mod will be a must-have.

Knights of the Old Republic II: Khoonda Lost Room
Darth_Tartarus brings to us a today a good piece of modding originally made by the modder Envidia. What Darth_Tartarus has done is to correct spelling mistakes in this particular modification and then to put the mod into TSLpatcher this making the mod a great deal more compatible than it was originally. What Envidia did with this mod, was to make the rooms in Khoonda that you could not get into in the vanilla game accessible. Within one of these rooms is a footlocker full of goodies including some new lightsaber crystals and some custom armours. Be sure to check out the readme and the screenshots to learn more about this particular modification.

Armada 2: Soyuz class
This is a newer and better version of the Soyuz that I released in 2006. Instead of kitbashing the SFC Miranda, I have used P81's. I have also improved the wireframes and added lightmaps and Borg textures. [- Pizza the Hutt]

Well, actually it was 2005. stick out tongue Never mind, I appreciate it when authors still take care of their mods after so many years, no matter how small they are. Here is the description of the old version: This is the Soyuz Class made for Armada II by Pizza the Hutt. It is seen in the TNG episode "Cause and Effects", when the Enterprise is stuck in a time loop, after the U.S.S. Bozeman unintentionally travels 90 years to the future. Basically based on the stock Miranda from SFC with a few alterations and additions. Quite a nice ship.

The arturus is inspired from the ancient aurora class, and is supposed to be a dreadnaught class. With a power source equal to 25 Zero point modules that are create exotic matter. The durando cannons "the zenith of ancient particle weapon technology" are mounted on the top and belly of the ship and are mounted on the containment chamber of the power source for maximum efficiently.

Halo: Captain Keyes Xbox Skin
This is a small mod for the "Xbox Purists". If you haven't already noticed in the 6 years that Halo 1 has been on PC (lol), Captain Keyes has a different set of textures on his uniform to his Xbox counterpart. Now for most, this isn't a problem. For ashkan, he chose to fix it. And seeing as how the models between the Xbox and PC versions are the same, it seems like it was relatively easy.

This isn't a standard "drag and drop" kind of mod. I has to be built into the only 2 stages where Keyes makes his appearances ("The Pillar Of Autumn" and "The Truth and Reconiliation") before his grisly and Flood-induced end in "Keyes" (mission 9). Poor Keyes. frown Anyway, as I said, some assembly required. You'll need to used HMT v3.5 or something similar in order to properly dress Jacob Keyes. If you've seen a few of the mods in the last few months and if you have taken the time to learn how HMT v3.5 works, then this should be no problem for you.

Jedi Knight III: Black Rebel
Anywho, 'nother file from Jedi_HM2. This one actually took me by surprise as well. Instead of a black clothed rebel, the rebel is actually...black skinned O_O;; so right out of the gate I was like: "Oh wow, nice!" It's great to see someone actually noticed how depressingly few black characters made/make an appearance in the Star Wars universe, even less on JA. This smart little mod fixes that, applying a modified lando face and hand texture to the default rebel. Best of all, he included it in the rebel directory, so those who don't have it won't see Kyle.

However, Jedi HM2 kinda missed out on a little detail. In trying to add the commander versions(made by DocPhil) of the rebel skin, he ended up inadvertantly misspelling the name of the image where the accessories came in XD! This resulted in no vest OR helmet showing up, and leaving a huge hole in the rebel. Fatal, no less. Might wanna patch that up :B

Other than that, very nice little package. Included are a set of NPCs to make your rebels more than E-11 toting dummies. I really like that you're giving the Rebel Alliance a little diversity in the human department. Thanks a hundred, and uh...<_< > _> see if y'can squeeze in some time to fix that little bug, eh?

Please refer to the "readme" section. I think that I achieved what I set out to accomplish; a complete reskin of the weapon along with a new sound that marks you as an elite soldier. You are a "Kommando" (Commando) - an expert soldier equipped with this camouflage weapon during a parachute drop behind enemy lines. I'm sure that, with the right custom player skin, you could become a stealthy menace for the Allied troops. Enjoy.

Star Trek: Legacy: Exeter class
Kophjaeger continues his long line of impressive starships with the an improvement on the Exeter class, which was release a year ago. This is a late 24th century vessel equipped with the slipstream drive seen in the Voyager Episode "Timeless". Kophjaeger describes this vessel as a destroyer, however being from the late 24th century your immediate impression on encountering anything smaller than your average battleship. Having high powered standard and pulse phasers, as well as a small array of torpedoes with a good recharge rate, this mere destroyer will easily match the best of whatever your opposition can throw at it.

Those familiar with starship design will see it is, as before, a cross with the defiant and a somewhat modernised kelvin class, and although unconventional, it is pleasing to look at. As the description also says the ship is designed as a high speed interceptor, and she is at that, traversing the cosmos at well over 6000mmps. (also quite handy if a borg armada pays you a visit)...This is by no means a god ship, if you find yourself outnumbered you may want to make use of your engines, or your cloaking device, as the shields don't hold out against prolonged weapons fire. The overall look and feel of the ship has improved, with a nice metallic look and high maneuverability.

Star Wars Battlefront 2: Black Lightsaber
Darth_Spiderpig comes to us today with the elusive black lightsabre, made by a workaround of sorts. The "black" is actually an addon geometry that fits into the gap in the lightsabre where the "black" should be. While this is a creative solution like many workarounds its got its problems (one illustrated in the 4th screenshot below) - that when using sabrethrow or crouching the "black" will remain attached to the hand (which probably rules out having more than one primary weapon with a character using this weapon as well).

For convenience there are two versions, a long and short one. Details on how to set it up are in the readme.

Company of Heroes: Rhine
This map is completely fictional, it took me a week to make and it is my third map as yet. Please give me some Feedback so I can improve on it as needed, The build spaces are quite small I know and I will fix it in the next release i assure you. There are 2 medium fuel points and 1 high ammo point. Down by player one is a staging point for the attack in the ditch beside the road, and at the top of the hill there is a manor which i have replaced with another because the last one produced allied generals,snipers and engineers and i assume this one does too.

The northern parts of them map are made up of fields and rural areas and the southeast is a small urban area where player 4 is, there is a little village above the city with a holland feel to it, and player 3 and 2 are set to fight over the manor which holds a medium fuel point on it making it essential, same for the holland village, it to holds a medium fuel point.

Two remaining forts of Elune were left. One has already fallen to the enemy`s hands and they are approaching through the one and only bridge ... Get ready for a blood storm 6 players are connected by 1 large bridge at the centre. No units can pass to the opponents` side without going through the bridge. I also added some space at the centre of the bridge to add the traffic-jam. Attack from the back, lure with bait, go head-on, everything is possible because of the map stucture so use your brains X) Some part of the map, especially tight spots are hard to see due to objects or roof tops blocking your view, so rotate the camera for clear view.

Empire at War: Kuat Ship Yards
Another first map. IN SPACE! DUN DUN DUN! It's action packed, although the rebels are grossly out gunned and can easily be destroyed at the start on any difficulty. The real challenge is winning as the rebels with imperials and pirates aiming for the kill and in striking distance. A couple of notes, the asteroid mines aren't the correct ones, and don't respawn when destroyed. The layout of the base is nice and the sparse use of asteroids and nebulae accentuate the rest of the map.

This is my first attempt at a custom map. It is what I think the Kuat ship yards should be like, I made it from scratch and I hope you enjoy it! smile On a side note: you are supposed to be the rebels but if you really want to you can be the empire. Easy AI is fast paced and not too much of a challenge. Medium AI is a little bit faster and more challenging. Hard AI is faster and really hard.(Because the empire has two SDs.)

Halo: Balanced Super Mods
Using HMT 3.5 and a little bit of Sparkedit I made some simple mods. These mods are experiments for a super mod I wish to make in which every weapon would seem like a super weapon (obviously). Many of the weapons here will be used. These are the tests and experiments. They are also fun simple skirmish maps. In order for any of the maps to work right it is HIGHLY advised you use the inclued custom gametypes. Or else your game will not be very enjoyable.

This is basically another weapons projectile edit mod. I always find these types of mod really difficult to review for some reason. I am not entirely sure why. Anyway, I only had time to briefly go through these map edits (Blood Gulch, Hang Em High, and Wizard), and they seem to be fairly solid edits. I can now actually fly a Banshee with a mouse. The readme and above description pretty much cover what is in this mod. I would have liked for the author, Murry_Folt, to have included some screenshots for this listing, even though nothing visually is different from the original map files, vehicles or weapons. Unfortunatly, that won't stop people posting in the comments something along the lines of "OMG no screenies = no DLs!!!", which is a shame as that tends to bring down ratings somewhat.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Temp
This is a preview of my self made map for the game "return to castle wolfenstein". Since the game is almost ten years old already and because my mapping skills are far from perfect, the graphics aren't very good. There is no story and the name of the map temp(orary) implies that this map actually was only supposed to be a temporary map, with a sole purpose of learning.The map however just kept growing, way beyond a simple test map. Creating the map and especially the scripts were a real challenge. Building the map with gtkradiant wasn't so difficult, however the mapscripts (elevator, ...) and the ai behavior took quite a lot of time, especially since the information about this was very scarce. It took me quite some time to complete, but I had quite a lot of fun creating it. I'll probably upload the map in the nearby future, even thought I doubt that there are (m)any fans of the singleplayer of rtcw around these days.
