Armada 2: Sigma
Quote:
A polished version of Sigma included all five playable races and tons of new features.
This mod, ladies and gentlemen, is a milestone in Armada2/FleetOps modding.

For those who are not familar with this:
Sigma is a FO-based TC that throws pretty much everything we're used to out of the window. It completely replaces the trek-based content of the original FO with a universe thought up and created by TUN himself. It makes full use of all the features offered by the enhanced FO engine to the point that sometimes you don't even fully realize that you're playing A2. It brings fascinating and mysterious NPCs and space wildlife (something we haven't seen before) into the game. Oh, and the soundtrack is just fantastic.

If you haven't played this before, I would recommend to DL this right now.

Company of Heroes: NHCmod
The NHCmod is a relatively small mod that gives one hero soldier and hero tank to each army. Th

is mod try to keep the original gameplay system of Company of heroes (no stat change in health or damage on the original units) while adding some features like persistent dead bodies, new units and abilites. The mod is customizable, you can choose to activate or deactivate some features that you do not like from the award menu.

It also contains a Combiner that allow you to play NHCmod v2.6 with Eastern Front v1.3 available here:

Halo: Combat Evolved: Reality: ODST lvl 2 V2
Quote:
Well I actually found the time to update this mod, last release I had to rush it because I was going to be very busy in December/Early January. I wanted to give the community an early christmas present so I decided to release it.Many cool features were removed just because I couldn't find the time to add them. Well now I've put them all back in,

First things first, if you want to have any hope of passing this revamped level, practice shooting long range with your SMG, lol. Oh, and I don't recommend playing this on any other difficulty besides "easy" as you will literaly die within the first 5 seconds on this on any other difficulty setting. Grab the tank as quickly as you can before crossing the bridge in the Warthog. And if you can get any gunners on your Hog, then do so. That said, this is still a great mod to try, even if you don't pass it within the first 50 times, lol. THE ROCKS ARE GONE!!! Yes, no more rock jumping at the start!

Knights of the Old Republic II: NEWBIEMODDERS KORRIBAN EXPANSION
This is a very exciting and much anticipated modification for the second Knights of the Old Republic the name of the particular modification is Newbiemodders Korriban Expansion! This is frankly a superb piece of modding, and it is modifications such as this that make my job of reviewing files a joy. Essentially what this mod does is to add more to Korriban, there are new areas, new tombs, a secret academy and new enemies to fight. The modification is designed so that you will meet some old friends in the game, as well as seeing one of the main villains again.

The technical application required to make this mod has been executed very well, the area reskins of re-used modules is expertly done, and you will be hard pressed to guess which areas have been re-used; such is the skill that Newbiemodder has executed these re-skins that I'm unsure if there are some new areas included or very well re-skinned old ones. The modification also comes with full voice-overs for the new characters that you will meet! The plot is interesting and in keeping with the overall theme of the game, in terms of what the player has to do, there are of course light and dark choices to be made.

There are a few areas which could required updates, the texture of some of the new characters did not quite mach the skill that was used for the areas, and on a clean Override folder, I had one or two errors with Jedi Robes, not having a new model included in the mod. The voice over quality could also be variable, and occasionally there was a lip sync error with the main bad-guy. However that these are all minor fine tuning quibbles shows the overall quality of the modification.

Star Trek: Legacy: Stargate - Enemy at the Gate
Here is a new Total Conversion for all the Stargate fans out there , this mod is based on the Stargate TV-series by MGM. This includes a lot of ships from the stargate series including those from the Asgard, Goa'uld, Tau'ri (Earth), Ancients and more. This total conversion also includes all of the weapons from the series in one form or another although it doesn't include Atlantis.

Quote:
When I was playing the Alliance(Beta) mod, I realized, that the models are no longer fitting to the now enhanced graphics of Legacy. Furthermore there were some aspects from Stargate unused. So I decided to make completly new Stargate-mod. After some years of work I release this pack now including many new features, such as the missiles by voyagerseven and the Droneweapon, which is fired like a torpedo. Although there are still some ships from Stargate left this mod is released now. Because of a lack of motivation and time in the last year less and less progress could have been achieved.

Furthermore there was not that much help with making the ships, which is the central part of this mod. So we give you now, what we have. Maybe there will follow some more ships. For example I've begun modeling the Ancient cityship (You can watch WIP pictures here: http://forum.ngmods.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=877).

Armada: CABAL's Blue Shields
]A mod for A1 and 2 that replaces the standard shield effect with a blue one that still changes color depending on shield health. I was inspired by Elrond's Blue Shields mod, but wanted something where some of the kinks, such as weapons stopping a little outside the shield, were ironed out. Another great shield mod. CABAL has done some fine work with this one! If you dislike the stock shields, you should definitely give this one a try. Thumbs up for a well executed & easy-to-add mod.

Battle for Middle Earth 2: ROTWK: Heirs of Arnor
As I forgot to mention earlier the mod adds arnor this is an update mainly to add the Balrog to goblins and to make Arwen attack faster and fix Faramir's level problem

Strategy guide- this mod drastically changes the game as you may already know so here are a few tips for dwarves and Isengard- Dwarves - buy Gloin and brand and build an archery range, spam axe throwers. The combination of Gloin's splash and brand an the axe throwers can pretty much kill any rushing army and can be a devastating rush.

Isengard- Uruks are expensive but powerful=finishers and furnaces are expensive but make twice as much so i recommend building lumber mills and using Wildmen as infantry and Warg packs to attack enemy resource structures while using Warg riders to kill any heroes and use Uruks ar FINISHERS.

New and improved version of USS Defiant bridge by ex-BC modder Sean (now working on Excalibur). Started in 2009, the bridge has more canon proportions, furniture and textures than current KM version (v3) and includes new animations by Lurok91 and canon station lcars by Robert aka Explorer of lcarsc.com This bridge pack also includes all the canon Defiant bridge variants as separate installs (after v4 installed): the first Defiant bridge (as seen in DS9 two-parter The Search) and the later seasons Holo and Sao Paulo variants.

Farcry 2: Legions_FC2_Editor_Mod_Beta_1.0
What actually is Legions_FC2_Editor_Mod?

Basically, what the mod is, is an editor modification to allow the mapper to add some very much more qualified objects than the normal editor would allow in Far Cry 2. Version Beta 1.0 has been released! It includes some new HD objects, I also unlocked the 3 "hidden" folders from the object inv. I have removed the following annoying editor limitations:

* Max 6 vehicles limit removed! (place how many cars you want to! The editor does not count/register them)
* Max 16 physic objects removed! (place how many physic objects you want to! The editor does not count/register them)

Grand Theft Auto 4: ENBSeries (for GTA 4) V0.082
Here is the ENB Series V0.082beta which is for GTA IV, this will improve several features of the game making it look a lot more realistic including a new sky system as well as modified sky gradients, sun, clouds generator and their lighting and not only this Everything is realitme. There are also a fair few other features that this mod has as well a lot more realistic lighting and shadows from the cars / ingame objects as well as much more (look at the videos and screenshots to see more!). This will add a lot more life into the game although at the same time it will need a more powerful computer to run it unfortunately due to the improved features used.

To achieve this Boris Vorontsov mainly uses new effects, which he integrates into the games with the ENB Series mods, or sets the rendering path to a new level (from DirectX 8 to DirectX 9 for example). Among the effects he uses are diverse Blur filters, SSAO (Screen Space Ambient Occlusion) and Indirect Lighting - both techniques provide better lighting and shadows. Furthermore reflections and water effects are utilized, too.

Here is the ENB Series V0.075c which is for GTA San Andreas, although not the newest version of the patch this is one that is for that game, this will improve several features of the game making it look a lot more realistic including reflections, particles, lighting which will make the graphics more comparable to that of GTA IV (although the models will still be the same so an improvement but not completely as good). This will add a lot more life into the game although at the same time it will need a more powerful computer to run it unfortunately due to the improved features used.

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas: pirateship cleo (1)
Here is a very interesting modification for GTA San Andreas, this is a pirate ship that you can use in the game either by driving it around san andreas. With this you can shoot things with it (normal for a pirate ship) and not only this you can also make it sink as well (with out the need of blowing it up). The ship can also catch fire and burn very well it seems. The ship itself has been very well made and looks brilliant in the game perfect for anyone

Knights of the Old Republic: HardCore 2011 Talchia Style
Qui-Gon Glenn returns with an update for his HardCore 2011 Talchia Style for the original Knights of the Old Republic game. Due to some problems with the initial release the older version has been deleted from the website and replaced with this one, to do in the words of the esteemed author "what it says it will do". This is a much inspired modification and for those of you who feel KotOR is too easy what this mod does in one script what other mods aim to do by editing many of the games assets. Because of the way the Glenn has made the modification, this hardcore modification unlike others will be compatible with the vast majority of modifications, which I'm sure many of you will be happy about! As always with mods by this author it is well executed, and is very much recommended if you are looking for a mod which makes the game harder, while allowing flexibility with other installed modifications!

Knights of the Old Republic: Tatooine Job Office
TimBob12 returns with a modification for the first Knights of the Old Republic game, this is an added content modification, which will allow the player to perform three additional quests on the planet of Tatooine. Essentially the TimBob12 felt that Tatooine was a too mundane a planet so has sought to spice things up somewhat with the introduction of some additional things to do, as well as new items to find and new, relatively tough enemies to be fought. The player will be able to do this by conversing with a Jawa found in the Czerka Office on the said desert planet. he modification is very well executed and it is nice to see that the modder has had a few fellow modders beta test the mod for him to eliminate any bugs found in the modification. All in all this is a well executed modification, and if you were bored with Tatooine or just want to see some additional content this mod could well be for you!

Star Trek: Legacy: Multiple Pack - Ktarian, Tarellian, Hunter, Zalkonian, Haakonian
Here you will find five ships - the Tarellian, Zalkonian, Ktarian, Hunter of Tosk, and Haakonian. This mod was tested stable in UU2 and in Stock. Paramount used the same model for all of these ships with some slight differences - most notable is the Tarellian. All ships have new custom weaponary. The warp glows and other textures are consistent with the differest shows they were on.

Tarellian - This ship operated as a cruiser for survivors of the Tarellian plague in the TNG episode - Haven. THis was the first use of this model. The large orb in the back is the crude main reactor. THis ship is armed with minimal weapons - phasers to the fore. The class of Cruise Liner suits it best.

Zalkonian - TNG Transfigurations - this is an advanced ship. Armed with traditional weaponary (which we were not able to see) and a radiation weapon that penetraded the Enterprise's shields. This weapon fires on the dorsal side.

Ktarian - In the TNG episode The Game - Worf said this ship posed no threat to the Enterprise. Stats were done accordingly - though this ship is a reasonable match for smaller ships.

Hunter of Tosk - This is an update to by previous release. I have added aft phaser cannons. This is the most sophsticated ship in this release. In DS9s Captive Pursuit it easily thwarted the stations defenses.

Haakonian - This shuttle was seen in Voyager - episode Jetrel. Little was demonstrated about this ship - I have made if fairly durable and armed with forward disruptors. She is fast and an excellent fighter.

Star Wars Battlefront 2: common.lvl
FDFire is here today with this mod for the original Star Wars Battlefront. This mod will change many elements of your game, though only visual elements. It changes the colors of effects, most weapon shots, health and ammo droids, some weapons, and all the user interface screens. The changes are largely all following the same theme (inversion of the color scheme) and so they all sort of mesh together, though some of the elements are a bit distracting and color-wise do not go together.

Regardless, if you like the screenshots, then give this a download. It does work online.

It possessed powerful weaponry and defences while being manueverable. This made it ideal for almost any combat scenario. Halo: Assault Rifle Xbox Skin (1.0)
The original Xbox textures that were missing on the PC port. Specially the multipurpose one on the PC which was completely missing. So, like with the Captain Keyes Xbox skin, Ashkan has provided the original Assault Rifle texture that was used in the xbox format of Halo 1, here for PC users looking to further "purify" their installs, lol.

Unlike the Keyes xbox skin, this texture will need to be inserted into every mission of the PC version as the weapon appears in pretty much 99% of the game by default. Same instructions apply as with the Keyes skin.

Jedi Knight III: Flamethrower Blaster
Well I genuinely have to say, this is one of the most fin little mini-mods I have seen in quite a while! What it does is turn the E-11 Blaster Rifle into a kind of flamethrower (as is obvious by the name of the mod, duh).

Now this isn’t a flamethrower in the traditional sense, as you may be expecting, since it does not shoot a jet of flame at your enemies. Rather it shoots 'bolts' of flame (with new fiery soundsets) rather than blaster bolts, though this is no less cool! Err, wait... I mean hot! Unfortunately though it is more difficult to aim, as the expanding jet of fire from each fire bolt obscures your view somewhat, but its still good fun to use nonetheless!

Jedi Knight III: SithTrainer
Excitement! Drama! Action! Violence! Fresh fruit! Passion! Spills! Thrills! Romance! Adventure!
All the things, you can read about in a book. Today's file is for all who found themselves wondering... So, essentially, what happened here? We have here a Jedi trainer, who turned to the dark side. Everybody knows Sith look like Caelum, except less sleep deprived and evil looking. So, yes, that is what happened here too, in a way.

The good
-Not a complete MS Paint job/desaturation only like some skins - effort did actually go into this.
-I have to admit I rather like the torso. Red/blue, black and leathery; I can get used to that.
-Complete with team support, NPC support, bot support, and all that.

The bad
-The head was basically desaturated and then had a red stripe added over the face, along with some bits of red in the neck
-Legs are near pitch black, although this seems to be better on the team skins.
-Taunts are allegedly a mix of Jedi2 & Reborn1 sounds, with the addition of some Jaden sounds here and there. Sounds may be inconsistent.

Jedi Knight III: TFU2 Maulkiller
It's a man's life in the Brittish Dental Association! Today, the deepest of evils (otherwise known as TFU) once again left me puzzled. I was going to go on a rant about black and white skins and monochrome JKA, but then I looked up what a Maulkiller actually was and found myself forced to conclude the author was neither insane nor colorblind. So, basically, this is Maulkiller. This model is a re-skined from Darth Phae's TFU 2 Cloned Starkiller pack, I tried to make from one of the starkiller models he made into the Maulkiller skin/ costume that is in TFU 2

The good
-Decent level of accuracy judging by what little reference material I could find

The bad
-Definitelys some discrepancies accuracy-wise
-Default taunts
-Due to a bug, the blue team skin appears to be missing the whole of its right arm, with the exception of a gravity-defying hand
-It's gray-scale...

Star Trek: Legacy: D-5 class
Prepare for battle! Introducing the canon D-5 battlecruiser, and tanker variant. These heavyweights will dominate the Enterprise Era. These vessels are slightly more advanced than the venerable K-30 battlecruiser, and served well into the 23rd century. The fully-armed D5 battle cruiser was considerably more advanced than Starfleet's most powerful vessel of that era, the NX-class starship. Indeed, the maximum speed of the D5 class was warp factor 6. The offensive arsenal of the D5 class was rather impressive for the time as the ship possessed a forward weapons port capable of firing both disruptors and photon torpedoes, a 360º rotating turret containing twin belly-mounted disruptor cannons, and a dorsal disruptor array. The D5 class was protected by defensive shields and dispersive armor.

The is an ancient vessel sent from far away to reintiate contact with the Humpback whales of Earth. Great to see this come to legacy

Quote:
Thanks for downloading the Gomtuu. This Organic Living vessel was seen in the TNG episode Tin Man. This vessel was discovered on a suicide orbit around a star. Its weapon was a shockwave that ripped through a Romulan Warbird and crippled the Enterprise with great ease. This ship is vulnerable to attack however. This ship has all new Hi-res weapons. It is the best way I can think of to simulate a shockwave in Legacy. This is quite convincing at times. Enjoy!

Company of Heroes: New Castle
This is a castle. Try to secure the castle and annihilate opposing forces. This is my first map. I hope you enjoy it. Single players should play against hard computer opponents.

Company of Heroes: The Old Flood Plains
This map was the trial of two asspiring map desighners "Gdawg" Phillips (Terrain Designer and Map Author) and "Bentley" ( Object placement and editing). The map depicts the ideals of the Allied field bases in mid france and the Axis hiddin in the urban war machine in the heavily bunkered citys, treck across country through hedges and farmland before storming the axis base and destroying industrial threat with brute force of vailiant soldiers and tanks. As far as game play the map offers many chances to flank the enemy with bottle necks and open plains.

Diversity is your allie brute force your weapon. The old flood plains is a 6 player map, well split up into three sections. There is however plenty of (mostly yellow) cover for infantry for early combat, however due to the amount of fuel available combat quickly becomes tank based. This map is possibly better suited for skirmish games versus the AI rather than againt humans due to the number of bottlenecks and the distribution of resource points which makes it very difficult to take important points easily due to the choke points, and the fact that some of the best choke points (ie the bridges) can be blown up to prevent easy advances.

Elite Force: RPG Defiant
Last year I had the idea to do some rework on some of the older maps as they lacked features and had low-quality-textures. I started working but figured out that I still had much to learn. After the good-feed backed USS-Maine Release in May I felt confident that there was no lack in skill left but it wasn't until the need for a Defiant-Class-Map rose in my RP-group that I started working on this again starting at zero.

This is what I did with the map before I started working on the corridor-layout. Not all the features of the final product are included yet but Warp, Turbolift and alert got their needed Upgrade. The Mapname stands in Tradition with all Defiant-Maps released so far. I hope to be able to release the final Product by New Years eve but no Promises. So. Yes. Another Defiant map. Don't forget that you need a lot of previous maps installed for all the textures and so forth. Not that you'd forget that.

Star Wars Battlefront 2: Easy Awards
darklink92 comes to us today with this rather interesting map, entitled "Easy Awards". The map, as you would expect from the title, allows one to get the kill-based awards in the game easily.

This uses the stock Tantive IV map shipped with the game as its base. There haven't been any modifications made to the map, but the sides are different. The Rebels have been changed to immobile weaponless drones that spawn in mass, providing lots of soldiers to simply mow down with the lone other unit on the map, which is a red stormtrooper that has extremely overpowered weapons. This unit has a rifle, pistol, sniper rifle, shotgun, a "nuclear rocket launcher", and a time bomb. These weapons allow you to get the kill-based awards quickly and easily by mowing down the weaponless Rebel soldiers that simply stand still and take it. The rocket launcher and time bomb do not get you any awards, but the time bomb is a helpful utility that gives you a timer until you can get the award again. The rocket launcher is just in there for fun.

Team Fortress 2: pl_redship_rc3
2209 - Planet Earth is now the host of well over 100 billion human beings. She is suffocating. 75 years after the creation of the first permanent spaceship, we are still looking for another home... not made of aluminum, titanium and australium. While some spaceships are populated by people happy to be living away from planet Earth, most of the ships are used for alternative resources or inhabitable planet search missions. Scientists, environmentalists, politicians and even law enforcement agencies have their own ship and work together towards the same goal: finding Earth 2.0.

The Biosphere Legislation Unit (BLU) have been monitoring the activities of environmentalists for the last 25 years. By respecting their cause and making sure nothing is done to harm the very planets activists protect and by supporting them on the political front, they've assured a climate of cooperation and respect between both parties for the well being of rare or near-instinct resources found on some potentially inhabitable planets. Recently, a group of suspicious activists calling themselves the Recycling-Environment-Development group (RED) have been reported to be secretly harvesting rare ressources found on those planets, and this, under false pretences.

They claim that their observation and information collecting activities help in documenting and in the preservation of rare resources, which is true. We now know that RED's supposedly secondary cause, the search for new inhabitable planets, is in fact their main objective. It has cost them a lot and have put them in a difficult financial position but it seems RED won't stop at anything to reach their goal. They are suspected of utilizing the very rare resources they claim to protect as an efficient alternative fuel for their outdated spaceship technology. The reward for finding a new home would be gigantic and bring a lot of money, new state-of-the-art spaceships and fame. Details about their true whereabouts are documented inside RedShip's computers. BLU has been ordered to seize RedShip and find the truth about RED's illegal use of this galaxy's valuable resources.

I don't know what happened there eek! (because the original that I made had the correct text, lol) - Although I'm a bit disappointed at the lack of comments for these news posts though, infact I might as well stop making them since not many people read it any more frown - so what is the point?

Seeing as this has been viewed nearly 600 times... That's the point. No input doesn't mean it's not read, it simply means people have no ideas for improvements. embarrasment

I've read every single one Danny. So you have one guranteed reader at least. big grin

The problem Danny, is not your fault at all. I've said it before, and i'll say it again, the problem is the way the layout is on the network sites. You remember back in the "golden years" when the news was near the very top of each page. It should be like that again dang it!!!

That is unfortunately what happens when priorities within the tech team are changed. An unimaginative and unintuitive site design had apperantly a higher priority then fixing bugs that had plagued Filesnetwork for a very long time back then and implementing new features (such as a quote function here in the comments) to the site's design template.

Years ago I made a post on the forums with some points that whould improve the site's in both features, interactivity and accessabilities, yet the only thing that has happend is the earlier mentioned unimaginative and unintuitive site design. What ever happened to the promise that the Filesnetwork sites would get an overhaul or did we see that overhaul in today's design ??

The site's design isn't the only factor who has contributed to this 'decline'. The April fool's joke that Filefront pulled almost two years ago, is also a large contributing factor. First, Filefront was going to close down and then suddenly Filefront was 'saved'. That didn't do well with people and in fact, it has cost you members. Members that have left Filefront after they had been 'betrayed' and that decline to an extend, you have noticed that in the comments of your Network updates . . .

Filefront closing 2 years ago definitely was not a april fools joke, and we know that beyond any possible doubt for multiple reasons.

The simple answer is that it's ongoing. There have actually been a lot of improvements but they aren't obvious. One example is moving to a CDN to supply downloads, which means that people downloading get vastly faster download speeds.

Other improvements to the network are being looked at, (ie; design changes) but may take a while yet, as updating the network visually is far from a trivial task.

Thing's take time, and I've definitely noticed improvements. I also think these news posts are a vital resource, and should be kept going. I always read them. Two Thumbs Up!

The way it and how it was being dealt with at the time leads me to believe otherwise . . .

You may want to change that philosophy. Faster download speed may be nice but is considered "common" in today's use of the internet and other improvements you speak of, may or may not have been noticed by members who visit the sites on a daily basis.

Members who don't come here that often (say once every two or three months, like myself. Some more often, some less often) don't immediately see those changes. All they see is a networksite that hasn't been updated in two years now and will judge you based on that. What you consider a "trivial task", is in fact one of the most important aspects on how something is being regarded . . .
