Welcome to all for the 33rd version of the Gamefront Network Update - Files Section the second part of the weekly news post. The Files part of the Weekly update includes the latest Files that has been posted on the Network Sites over the past two weeks including many different Modifications, Maps, re-skins, as well as anything from Starships and much more. Again more Star Trek files this week it seems there are more files from Armada 2 than most of the others!, although there are are more mods and mini mods this week although not as many maps.

As always we would like to here from you smile if you see something that you would like to be added to the to this update, or you have any suggestions that you think may improve the Network Update then simply drop me an email at Danny[at]filefront[dot]com (please put "Network Update" as the subject though ). Rasilak: Initially designed to replace the Sartan and Norin, the Rasilak however, was instead integrated into escort groups with her sister ships. Furthermore, the Rasilak are often used to support or escort the larger Kondal and, on occasions, offer assistance to other craft.

Kondal: Matching that in size of the Tonga, the newer Kondal Class is far more efficient in her duty, and with such, comes the agility and speed that was lacking in the Tonga. Unlike the Tonga however, the Kondal Class are not as heavily armoured, and are said to also be an easier target.

Empire at War: Strategic Expansion Mod
On one hand, this mod is well done and thought out. On the other hand, you can find something similar to this is most of the large mods. I actually like the smaller mods like this one that allow me to easily add it to another mod(s) that I think it would go well in. I think the level 4 options for the rebels and consortium might be better delayed for level 5. But I also don't know what the author has in mind for level 5 options, so I'll just have to wait.

On a side note, it's great to be back. I had some "real life" (read: stuff I needed to do) get in the way of what I wanted to do. My thanks go out to Enceladus for doing reviews in my absence.

My goal with this little mod was to expand gameplay in Galactic Conquest, primarily by putting in more construction options for space, which in my opinion, was greatly lacking.

Included in the mod are seven new space structures for GC. The Rebels get the Sensor Satellite, which removes fog of war during tactical battles. The Consortium gets the Smuggler Dock, which reduces the price of unit construction on the planet it orbits. The Empire keeps the Gravity Well Generator, which is slightly tweaked, and all three still have the Long Range Scanner. Every faction also gets access to Asteroid Mines (self explanatory), Orbital Colonies (which increase your population cap), Repair Platforms (they repair nearby ships in tactical battle), Orbital Garrisons (they give you more garrison units in tactical combat), and the Orbital Defense Grid, which is basically turbolaser towers in space.

Jedi Knight III: FlufMod Patch 0.9.5-0.9.6

Speaking of news, here's some for you: an update to FlufMod: the most fluffy mod ever to appear on this site. Today's update is pretty minor, but even so, yay for bug fixes.

Here's what was fixed:

- SP: Force Power Menu / Weapon Select / Bonus Style Selection Glitch: this was causing an issue when trying to select force powers and weapon selections when the user increased their saber offense. I have reworked the sequence which now forces the Bonus Style Selection to occur immediately after Force Power Selection.

-SP: Mission Video Glitch: repaired the issue where Luke or Kyle start speaking immediately after a mission is complete. Now the Mission Complete screen pops up and they only start speaking once OKAY is pressed.


Considering the 1000+ downloads on the last release, this should make a fair amount of people happy. Go forth and enjoy.

One note: you will need 0.9.5 installed prior to installing this. This package contains only the update; the actual mod is not included in here.

Jedi Knight III: JO Reborn sounds for JA classic Reborns
So, I'll say it: JK3 Reborns suck. Buncha crazy arabic-looking extremists with steroids injecting into their forearms. Big ol' mess, if y'ask me. If I deigned to play as a reborn, I'd stick to JK2....but there's one problem: SOUNDS. Old JK2 Reborn apparently was handed the new reborn soundset, which was...eh, mediocre to fair, and left to die with only a fraction of its options.

....Someone noticed and took action.

So yah, If my rant or the title didn't clue you in, you're pretty much busting rocks with your head for a living. The soundset included adjusts the reborns back to a mixture of some of the old JO soundsets. Unfortunately, the approach used is kinda...well, unusual. The ideal situation would have been this: Four pk3s. One including all the soundsets, and three that adjusts the sounds.cfg of the reborn model, depending on which one you'd prefer. Our dear author has chosen to just sorta mix and muddle them all up. Not necessarily a faux-pas, but I don't recall Stormtroopers constantly swapping out voices, though I do recall the Merc Commander in T2_ Rancor that used a stormtrooper's voice....yeah.

So, case in point, the intent is pure, but the approach coulda used a bit more thinkin' over. It's a start, though, so definitely keep at it, lad.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: 2H EBONY Sword (v1.0 Beta)
Alright, so i decided i wanted a sword that goes on the back, but i didn't want a claymore or some downloaded sword. Guess what i did? I took the Ebony Sword and turned it into a back mounted weapon with the power of a claymore. It's not overpowered and it's fun to use! I've been using it all morning and had no problems with it. So i hope everyone has as much fun as i have. Also i redid the sword texture so the trim looks golden, which is a nice touch imo.

Armada 2: Constitution, Miranda (Motion Picture Pack)
Included in this download is a retexture of an earlier released Constitution and Miranda Class (see: http://armada2.filefront.com/file/Constitution_Class;107871

Constitution: The Constitution is an old design, having served the Federation well from as early as 2245. Those vessels still in service are commonly used for convoy or escort duty, as due to their age, they aren't known to fare all that well in fleet combat, nor against mainline vessels of other races.

Miranda: Having seen most of their prime action between 2260 and 2345, the Miranda has since been demoted to patrol supply lines throughout the Federation boarders. Whilst these vessels are able to survive a fire fight with pirates, they are in no technological order to join combat fleets.

Armada 2: Klingon K'vek

The K’vek has become known as the next generation of assault cruiser. Along with some impressive weaponry, these new line assault cruisers are also quite manoeuvrable for their size. The K’vek is usually found working alongside, and on occasion supporting the larger Voodieh.

Armada 2: Dual K't'inga Pack
Included in this download are two versions of the K'tinga Class:
- The first version is the typical TMP type, and comes with a silver / grey tint, as seen throughout TMP and early-TNG.
- The second version is the green tinted variant, typically seen throughout late-TNG and DS9.

The K’t’inga Class vessels are one of the oldest ships still in the service of the Empire. Originally commissioned through from the late-22nd century, with various upgrades, refits and new designs, the K’t’inga still serve the Empire as they have done throughout their long history.

Knights of the Old Republic: Jedi Malak Animation Fix and Playable PC Head
This mod fixes the Jedi Malak model so that it has all the animations and also makes it so that you can select Jedi Malak as your PC. Since this model has the body and head as part of the same mesh, the body model will not change when you select robes and armour etc. Also, headgear will not show up on the model. You can wear it, but you won't see it. In my opinion this is better anyway, as the headgear in KotOR is hideous and would be COMPLETELY the wrong size for this head anyway.

Since this body model is a LOT taller than the regular body models, when the camera goes close up to your PC's face, it will instead be looking at Malak's chest.

This is my first map before ' Cezembre ' and ' Port Marly [ revised ] '.
A small high town fenced by a river meander and around fields, orchards, farms and an abbey. To reach the town, two footbridges and three destroyed bridges. The best resources are in the town, but there are some dropped resources too with weapons available, so looking for them !!! You have got a truck near each HQ. 29 sectors, 9 munition, 6 fuel, 14 manpower.

A large beautiful town with a river-port. In the middle a long island has got an available forward barrack, free of charge.
A wide river divides the town.
Only four bridges :
- two destructibles footbridges
- one indestructible bridge for vehicles,
- one destroyed railway bridge,
- and a path on each river bank.
Plenty of buildings. Some availablemortars, MG42, Pak38, two Flak88, bunkers and somewhere dropped ammunition and fuel resources. Maximum population : 112.
43 SECTORS ( 11 fuel, 11 munition, 13 manpower, 8 high sectors to increase effectif per minute. ) A very large map !! Use your available truck near each HQ.

Counter-Strike Source: mg_fission_course
This course is neither too difficult nor too easy to complete. There is a separate race course at the end, all players still alive when one player finishes will teleport to the race. There is a spawn fail after five minutes of play; this is to allow multiple attempts at the early obstacles and to give opportunity for more participants in the death race. There is a theme to the map:

You are part of a terrorist organization that is paid to infiltrate a nuclear energy facility posing as a construction warehouse. There was a fatal catastrophe at the plant and a scientist on the payroll has documents to pass on before his life expires. Get to the scientist, retrieve the documents and get out of there!

Course Obstacles:

1. To open the main gate, get in to the security office and use the keyboard on the console. The security office door is sealed tight, so you have to figure out another way in.
2. Make your way around the radiation and debris to the elevator hallway. The toxic floor is insta-death throughout the map.
3. Level one lasers, these will add up to some major damage so don’t get sloppy.
4. Descend the elevator shaft using the notches on the side.
5. Level two lasers, these are insta-death.
6. Leap over the toxic floor and enter the ventilation.
7. Use the console to open the door into the lab. Proceed through the machinery to the following room.
8. Use the remains of the bridge to get to the door across the room; only after the button fails to open the door is an alternative route given.
9. Use strafe jumps and precise timing to cross these platforms to the other side. Enter the room to complete the course.
1. DEATH RACE – The player who completes the objective will have the option to:

A. Enter through the door and be teleported to the Winnervator

B. Remain in the map with the other players and be teleported to the holding room.

The player has 15 seconds to choose, after 15 seconds everyone still alive on the map will teleport to the holding room. Shortly after, the gate will open and players have roughly 15 seconds to climb before the rising water activates. The Winnervator will rise with the water, not harming whoever is inside, and the view is quite nice (Note: There is a button to send the Winnervator up inside as well. This is crucial for if there are no players eligible for the race (dead). At the top of the race course there is a disco room with two laser platforms. There are two ways in to this room, one through Winnervator access and the other at the top of the course, should you escape the water. Each platform in the room awards game points, and an ability thus ending the round. The Blue platform grants low gravity and the Turquoise platform grants high speed. There is a secret room in the map; it is only accessible using one of the platforms, and entering the secret area the following rounds. Players who have not been killed by the reward platforms will not be able to teleport to the room. There are a few easter eggs In the map.

Empire at War: Assault On Alderaan
This is a very well done Alderaan map. It makes excellent use of height variation and texture work to make a convincing scene. If you're in the mood for some FOC definitely try this map out.

Assault On Alderaan pits Rebel and Imperial forces against one another around a city on Alderaan. Imperials must conquer both the city AND a small rebel outpost just outside of their base while Rebels must defend both areas at all costs. The battle starts off very quickly after a small force of each side meet up between bases, so find your bearings and lead your troops to victory!

Empire at War: Dagobah outpost v 1.1

At least it loads. I was unable to finish it because some units were off the map, or invisible, or invincible. It was at least one of those. The next step is play around with height, texturing, and props. But everyone's got to start somewhere.

Empire at War: Dark Fight Over Byss
This is a fairly wide open map that features a bountiful amount of mines to allow for some big encounters to occur. One of the issues I have with this map is the lack of a star dome and nebula as well as the fact that the planet is much to close to the play area.

Empire at War: Tatooine: Mos Ivanpah
Tatooine: Mos Ivanpah is a very realistic looking portrayal of the planet Tatooine. It really does capture the look of Tatooine from the movies. THis map will have you battling among a small town as well as in the surrounding sand dunes. If you're looking for a good Tatooine map then check this out.

A battle for the town of Mos Ivanpah and the surrounding area. I know I got a little sloppy with the textures and the passability towards the end of making this map, but it's an interesting play nonetheless.
There are a couple of bugs (mostly with the names and the minimap), but if anyone spots any, please do message me and let me know. I personally found the map a bit of a challenge to play, and it requires different tactics than most maps, so enjoy!

Jedi Knight III: TFFA Communist Map
Yet another uncommon occurence, I don't think I've EVER seen a map built in dedication towards a sociopolitical principle. Y'reckon someone will retaliate and build a Capitalism map? Oy, that'll be amusing.

So, honestly, as I view this map now, I'm sorta put off by it. Not because of the communist references thrown in there, but just because of how empty and boring the map really is. I mean, yes, it has plenty of sprinkles of detail, but overall it just doesn't really grab the attention. To top it all off, why is Sons of Anarchy, a TV series from capitalistic US, included as a poster in one of the areas? Sends a mixed message, in my opinion.

What this map lacks in beauty, it makes up for in performance. The broad empty areas makes for plenty of dueling space, and the circuitous build of the map makes for an easy return to the battle front. I'd say this could actually make a functional clan map, if you felt comfortable being in the midst all of the Reddery.
