Welcome to all for the 35th version of the Gamefront Network Update - Files Section the second part of the weekly news post. The Files part of the Weekly update includes the latest Files that has been posted on the Network Sites over the past week including many different Modifications, Maps, re-skins, as well as anything from Starships to cars and much more. Although no big mods this week it seems so far, but hopefully there will be some next week.
As always we would like to here from you if you see something that you would like to be added to the to this update, or you have any suggestions that you think may improve the Network Update then simply drop me an email at Danny[at]filefront[dot]com (please put "Network Update" as the subject though ). More Dawn of War Winter Assault: FileFront's Dawn of War Winter Assault Files Doom III: Enhanced Weapon Effects
This mod modifies and enhances all the particle effects for the weapons in Doom 3 and Resurrection of Evil. Changes also include new decals, model textures, and added lighting effects to weapons. Weapon effects now look much more realistic than the original effects with much more detail.
New particle effects include new muzzlesmokes, particle trails, impacts and explosions, wounds, ricochets, strikes, and various other effects for all weapons. As an added bonus, added def files for some of the monsters and the sentry buddy have been included to utilize some of the new particle effects with other changes.
Note: This mod does not modify gameplay in anyway. All values such as damage, ammo capacity, projectile velocities, etc. have not been changed and are "pure" to the original. I leave this up to the user to change to their own tastes or to use any assets in this mod to be included into other mods/projects as desired.
For all of the fans of the Corporate Addon mod the latest version is the most stable and most thorough mod of the series yet. This is definitely a mod to check out. Please note that the file on this page is just the read-me. You must download the mod from the link above.

If you like the rebels then this is for you...? Probably. Although it doesn't give them much of an advantage, it's a nice start to someone who's new a modding.

Death Island has never really been a particular favorite of mine, mainly because I always thought of it as a cut and paste job of Silent Cartographer. So when I saw this in the inbox (please don't use server2server next time. It doesn't work, and I have mentioned that several times in the news over the last year), I had to give it a shot.
It is basically exactly the same as the default map, only this time, it's snowy. Not quite on the scale of an ice age, but cold enough to freeze the ocean, lol. Pretty much plays like the original map aswell, but give it a download if you are sick of seeing Death Island. Remember to back up your original Death Island map incase you change your mind. There are also some normally "non-useable" useable vehicles included in this, but you do have to go into the structure of the map itself in order to access them. Further details on how to do this are in the readme file included.

Typically I do not really associate beards with the Dark Side, it seems to be mostly Jedi that have beards, though I could be wrong, but feel free to fin d me a Sith Lord with a beard! Perhaps turning to the dark side stops the growth of facial hair?
Anyway, here we have an update to a very old skin that was originally made by Ragnos back in 2004. basically Grifterjl has given this a bit of an update by adding a new taunt, which happens to be from the bad guy in the movie 'Highlander' who has a penchant for cutting peoples heads off. The film also features Sean Connery as a 3000 year old 'immortal' originally born in Egypt mentoring some burly Scottish bloke who flings a big sword around, lives a few hundred years, ends up in New York and battles a large scary bad guy who is in dire need of some throat medicine...
Anyway, this is a nice little update to an old skin and it brings it back into the limelight, though I would have liked to have seen some new sounds for the death, pain and other sounds too! Something to try for next time perhaps!

This file, by Azhnarton, is a small change to the launcher utility. This is pretty much a two-second change (it's just editing two lines), but I suppose if .xml files are scary, scary things, this could be beneficial, as a set of instructions for making your own change is included.
I'm not 100% sure that it works - there seem to be a lot more clean, white, clouds than would make sense for Coruscant. But I suppose one doesn't often spend a lot of time considering the "fit" of a sky for a location while one is playing a map, so there you are.

This is a model of the Sith Battlecruiser. It can be seen in the trailers for 'The Old Republic' MMO.
Originally Arvis Taljik made a sith destroyer based on early concept art for this ship but since the ship changed so much since then i decided to redo it to be more acurate. I don't view this as a V2.0 of the ship though. Arvis' ship is still a beautiful model and should not be discarted.
The model comes complete with code and icons. Some additional coding is required to get it ingame

Well, am Imperial Rodian, that’s a new one! Of course, considering the Empires xenophobia towards non human species it is probably somewhat unlikely that a Rodian would every be allowed to join the Imperial forces much less become a Colonel (judging by the rank insignia on his chest) unless he was some tactical genius like Thrawn, but lets not dwell on technicalities!
The author has done an excellent job of fitting Imperial uniform textures on to the Rodian model, especially with those oddly shaped shoulder pads. I also think it is cool how the Rodian clothing style 'quilted' effect has been retained and fitted nicely into the design of his Imperial uniform. There are team skins, which rather than being blue and red are instead grey for the blue team and black for the red team, which combined with the brown for the default skin nicely covers all the different colours of Imperial uniform, though I have to admit I have never been quite sure what military difference the different coloured uniforms denote in the Empire. Perhaps someone who knows can explain in the comments below.

More Elite Force: FileFront's Elite Force Files Empire at War: Upside down
Although it is fun to watch units hyperspace in backward and upside down, that's about the extent of it. I was hoping that the units would be upside down the entire time, but they right themselves quicking after arrival. It still gives a different perspective on asteroids, and starbases (as they stay upside down the entire time).

The Map supports 3 teams and 8 players (For multiplayer, single player is just 4) I'm also going to try this with a land battle but I'm not sure if that works but if it works I'll also submit a land version.
Anyway, this is ported from a game which I have never heard of before (HeXen), but apparently was very popular at the time of it's release. If I had to rate this map based on looks alone, it would get a 6/10, but it's a very strong 6/10, which I will explain in the next paragraph. There are alot of repeated textures here, and in a fairly small, basically box map, that isn't a good thing. Sure, the last map from Adolif had repeated textures aswell, but that one was quite large, and well spread out. The tree models alone on this are very basic, almost akin to what can be seen in Marathon, Minecraft, or the original Quake game.
I really like the dark, swampy tone that was used though. I think it sets the mood very nicely. Gameplay wise, it's a whole other kennel of fish (never understood that phrase, lol). Being a small map, it is perfect for close combat, and a lot of fun during team games. I reconmmend Capture The Flag for something quick, or Team Slayer for something fun. Again, like Adolif's first ported map (it was ported with permission by the way), it's a lot of fun, for a Halo 2 map.

Getting a Halo 2 map is a rare thing around here. Getting a good Halo 2 map, is even more of a rarity. Todays batch of maps for Halo 2, starts off with a really nice Egyptian-based map. It has the basic features of being alomst totally asymmetrical, with a a nice hidden bonus. Plus, it also has a small network of underground tunnels, which are perfect for sneaking around without being noticed. Some advice. When you are presented with a need to crouch, don't let go of crouch until you are safely outside. You'll know whan you need to.
Being a map like this makes it perfect for most gametypes, especially "Capture The Flag". I loved playing this map, and I hope a lot of you give a try.

More Halo 2: FileFront's Halo 2 Files Star Wars Battlefront 2: Honoghr - Crash-Site
This map, by FelipeGabe, is a medium-sized map set on a planet with far too few vowels in its name. It's a first map, and for a first map, it's surprisingly well-done.
To get some of the bad out of the way, it's not a visually impressive map. It looks nice, but there are a few things - stock textures on the props is a big one - that makes it feel a little too "standard" to stand out. Retexturing the Tatooine buildings or the sail barge turret guns would have been nice and gone a ways towards making the planet feel like it had a standard visual theme.
The good is that the map is pretty well-constructed, and it plays very well. The map uses a "theta" design, basically a circle with a line through the center, and that's a good one for keeping the map flowing well. Some neat features are the author's smart use of elevation, some well set-up cover at some CPs, and one thing I personally thought worked well - the avenues of Mos Eisley buildings, which should not have stood out in any way, ended up being a neat way to corner off parts of the map.
The map is decent in its use of space, although it does tend toward the "large" side of the scale. Visually, it - like I said above - feels a lot more like the plainer maps of SWBF2 (e.g. Yavin IV), and I think that's because a lot of the props used aren't really retextured well to fit in with the scenery. Maybe having the Tatooine buildings made of a sooty ash-type material, or the brick textures be red to fit in with the soil - any of these might have helped.
I liked the use of flowing lava as a scenery addition, but there are some pretty clear texture seams there. Whatever texture was used needs to tile a whole lot better.
So this is it, the final goodbye to the Scarlet Devil Mansion. The RED and BLU teams are spending their last evening on the island... But still, they won't get out of here without a last challenge. The spies heard Remilia and Patchouli discussing about a Lunar Rocket called the "Sumiyoshi Vessel", hidden in the library. Which team shall be able to summon it first? Search the library, be the first to grab the magic scroll to summon the rocket!

Just a simple spawn war map, you get 8 heroes for each team. Each player is allowed one hero, once their hero has spawned 6 bodyguards which level up to Lv.15 and can be equipped and will spawn.
-Each player's Hero and Bodyguards can be revived from the tower of their colour near the HQ
The objective is to destroy the other team's fortress which is opposite yours, but in their base.
Enemy militia units will spawn as soon as an allied unit enters their base, each wave will consist of 64 Militias. Destroying each of the 6 castles on either side of the enemy's base will reduce the number of Militias spawned by 8
That's all you need to know really, have fun, and please make sure to inform me of any errors/bugs. Also any feedback would be greatly appreciated
