Obama is Elected the 44th President of The United States - Off Topic
  Posted by: Mr.Funsocks on 11-04-2008 @ 20:59
This News Item has been viewed 309,381 times
It is now official, Barack Obama is the 44th president of The United States after winning the 2008 election!

The 47 year old senator is the first African-American to ever become president of the United States. Obama reached the 270 electoral votes that is needed to win an election at 11 p.m. Obama's opponent, John McCain, called and congratulated him on his victory shortly thereafter. McCain, in order to win, needed the democratic states of Ohio and Pennsylvania including the other republican states, but fell short.

Congratulations to Obama, and good luck to him in his upcoming term. May he make the right decisions, not only for the country, but to keep us gaming proud!

Congrats to Obama.

Too bad a socialist like Brian Moore didn't win, but in the U.S. that will never happen.

I'm still really happy for Barack.

-The best of persons we could have chosen for a better future, a better freedom, a better purpore, and Overall a better America.

-the obvious failures of the past republican administration need to be solved, and 4 more years of Bushy McCain obviously was not want the American people desired.

-A warming congradulation to the now entitled President Barack Obama, may he serve our country to better the perceptions of the United States in the World.

-Heres to the democrats chance to have majority control of the Government Beer! Beer! , id say its about time. 12 years before Clinton and 6 majority controlled years of bush did nothing but plummet us into this spiraling debtful depression.

-If your a republican, i cant say much except 2 words,

-gg. Pimp!

I'm extremely glad that Obama has won over McCain, but why is this news on this site? It doesn't belong here at all, unless you're going to start reporting on elections in EVERY country...

A guy who's name many of us laughed at and couldn't pronounce a year ago becomes the 44th President of the United States of America.

Man I love this country.

I didn't vote... By the time came around to, I just didn't have enough information because I didn't get involved. Had I voted, though, I would have voted for Obama.

I loved his speech, and I can only hope that the change he has promised will be strong enough to truly make this a better country.

I don't think this is the right decision (And please, cut the crap about Obama being 'black/afro american'. He's mulatto!).

He surely can't make all those 'hope, change, better future' promises come true... America can't change that quickly. On top of that, does Obama really want to make those changes? He's now the POTUS (well, officially in a couple of weeks), and there will be more parties at play when he's going to make the real decisions...

People don't see the whole picture. I'm not saying McCain would've been the best/superiour.... all I'm saying that Barack Obama ain't that superiour/messiah-like...

Think for yourselves people, don't follow what others tell you to think.... don't follow the cattle....

it was the only sensible campaign running. Palin and Mccain were simply too desperate and Palin was clearly a desperate measure.

Well done Obama. I hope the chnage to come is good.

So what? I mean, I didn't see the results of the elections of Kyrgyzstan, Hungary, Great Britain or Canada.
Do not misunderstand me, I'm happy that he won - although I'm not from America smile
I just don't understand why have this fact to be posted on Filefront as news. Most of the community are not from the USA (I think...).

no one cares about other elections. this one is by far the most historic, and interesting. A US prez can change the world if congress lets him. I won't be surprised if he falls flat on his face though. I hope not though. congrats obama, you beat the man..this time.

Firstly the problems with 9/11 were a direct result of a lack of co-operation between the FBI and cia (I have a broken a key, that's why it's not incapitals.)
Secondly, I'm glad Obama won because it meant Palin was nowhere near office. That's really all I cared about.

(I'm not a US citizen, by the way, but I'm very concerned about a country with the nuclear capability to destroy the planet holds an election)

Yes, we don't all have black hearts. Many Americans have protested the war in Iraq for the last five years, myself among them. We know it was all about Bush's friends trying to get oil rights. The huge majority that Obama won by should show that we, as a people, do not support it. For the first time in eight years, I'm once again proud to be American.

As a USA voter who didn't support Obama I still welcome him and do wish him the best. There are a lot of issues and lots of different perspectives on these issues, but one thing is certain - now that he is our Commander in Chief I will give him due respect and best wishes in office. It's going to be a really hard job and I will be praying for him and his family. (I Tim. 2:1-2)

I have been a DoW FileFront member for a few months and figure it might be appropriate to mention a few things regarding this news item. First, I was very surprised to see it since politics have been kept to the forums! But on behalf of Mr Funsocks I don't feel as critical as others who who have expressed their feelings. FileFront as a business is located in the USA ( Texas, right? ) and are protected by and try to obey American laws. If they had they been in any other country it would also be natural to express important things for that country. Since this is such big news for the USA, especially since Obama is a record breaker in many ways, I'm not at all upset. But....

I doubt this is intended to be an open forum for any political discussions, and I really hope that we don't think that we don't now start bringing up things in other News or File pages. DoW files is and should remain a worldwide community brought together by the game(s) we enjoy and our support of one another. If we focus what separates us we could all end up bitter and discouraged. Divided we fall, but together are strong!

Call me crazy, but I see FileFront as a great example of the principles that brought this country together in the first place. We are a very diverse group, but as we come together and share mods, maps and art our very differences are what we enjoy! When we show mutual respect and appreciation, some of the greatest creations have resulted (like the community map projects, awesome! ) Each of us are given quite a lot of freedom, but we safeguard from that which is intended to offend or put down others.

I want to say to say to the other members (and all Filefront users for that matter) regardless of your citizenship that I'm happy to have you on board! Let's stand together backing our leadership, respecting and supporting one another, and letting our diversity be our greatest strength!

@ IKS, well said m8! big grin but...wouldn't it mean a woman as President aswell?wink It would be history, too...
Anyway the only thing I prefered McCain over Obama is his global air pollution treatment, from closer, McCain wanted to handle the problem in a way shorter term and more effectively that Obama is planning to do so...And that's sad, just like the case of Kioto...It would be wise to finally realize we're running out of clean air...

GL President Obama, the eyes of the World are upon You!

Here are the facts.
1. Bush haters are extremely exaggerating
2. Most people don't know what they're talkin about
3. The President is not a Dictator
4. He's the Chief in Commander of the United States Military
5. He's not the Leader of the Nation
6. Obama is mainly the President because of his Race
7. This Election is Historical; First Black President
8. This Election was mainly about Race(That was the "Change"wink
9. McCain and Palin never stood a chance
10. The Importance of this Election is exaggerated; The World aint gonna change

Anyways, Obama is President. It's Reality. Nothing anyone can do about it. People who are against or for him, or don't care, see what he can do for America.

Sorry if I offended you. Your first post sounded like you were a Bush defender. His approval rating is the lowest of any American president in history. He did put us all, the entire world included, into a horrible recession, he started a war for oil in the Middle East, he violates our constitution rights on a daily basis. Generaly not a good guy. Obama can't possibly be worse.

Whether you were for McCain or Obama, the people decided and that is an important thing.
I've never seen an election of such magnitude where so many were involved.
This is democracy at it's best. The people stood up and voiced their opinion. The people got out and voted.
The whole world has been watching and is in admiration of what this country can do.

Change was in the air.
Now let's hope for the better.

OK, I just can't stand hearing crazy stuff. Obama came out in favor of Prop 8 in California(ban on gay marriage), his family is highly Christian, but he does support a womans right to choose. Communist? that's fairly insane.

and also congrats to Mr.Funsocks for managing to post this news item and not have it deleted - I post a news item about people behaving themselves with their comments on HL2Files and it gets deleted, then someone posts something completely off-topic and everyone's fine with it.

HL2Files ain't what it used to be.

For the second time, pay attention to where you are posting...this is Network Wide! It is on all of the gaming sites, not just HL2Files. If your news post was deleted, I would first check with your Site Administrator...and stop moaning about it! I expect more from the actions of a Network Staff person.

And what was the deal with all those stories about him having affiliations with acorn, domestic terrorists, terrorist sympathisers and why does he consider 100 grand a year wealthy enough to tax the hell out of u and go and give it to a bunch of slobs who dont work and want the government to solve all their problems???
THIS COUNTRY WAS STARTED WITHOUT GOVERNMENT DICTATORSHIP, THE US IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A SOCIALIST/COMMUNIST COUNTRTY.

Ack. I'm seriously disappointed, myself. Between all the fraud in Ohio and Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), McCain couldn't possibly win. :/

Besides....we now have liberals in control of the house, the senate, AND the presidency.....wait until all the spending bills get passed. Taxes are going up, no doubt, because the liberals sure aren't going to pay for any of it. America's economy is going down, not up. frown

All I can say is, barack had better go back on a lot of his campaign speeches, or we're in serious trouble.

Wow...didn't expect so much enthusiasm here of real world issues.
@ redeemed74, you got it just perfect.
Anyway, I'm not an American, but still, this vote is celebrated all over the world. Now is the time for Americans to change, to change their prespective to the world and vice versa.
3 centuries of indoctrinitation of white racism did left a negative impact on the Americans, but now, with black president, no more. Now is the time for Americans to show who they really are. Not a nation of racist, white supremisct or 'world dictatorship' (that's how I put it for the Bush era), now it is time to show that America and Americans are friendly, no more wars, no more police actions, no more black ops, no more of that. It is time for Americans to show that they are indeed acceptable in the world society.
Even though, once again, I'm not an American, I know that Americans are not what many people say about. Show your true colors, Americans. Yes YOU CAN!

And you think the Obama, who supports abortion, and the killing of infants, and higher taxes is gonna do any better? I'm independent, and I'm definitely not racists, but I do believe in moral value, and Obama does not hold moral value in high regard. but who knows maybe he will do a good job.

Good gosh people! Do any of you remember 9/11? Bush didn't invade the middle east to get his hands on more oil! He did so in retaliation of Osama Bin Laden and his terrorist friends hijacking passenger planes full of innocent people, and then flying them into and destroying the Trade towers. Over a thousand American citizens died!

Now saying that we should retreat out of Iraq and Afganistan is just ridiculous. If we retreat now, the terrorists win! They will regroup, train more recruits, and they wont need to worry about Americans finding out about them plotting to hijack planes or planting bombs or God knows what. Commander realWar put it nicely: ''Barack is going to pull out of the middle east, and NOT FIX THE PROBLEM!!!!!! In about another decade, there will be another attack on America. Then the president at that time would get blamed for that.'' A good example is the economic crisis. Contrary to popular belief, Bush did not cause this. He merely took judgment for it. Look back a few years, we have Bill Clinton. He wrote a bill with this goal: ''Everybody gets a house.'' It basically did this: order the people at loan agencies to approve risky loans to people who in no way could pay them. It worked pretty well at first, house ownership skyrocketed and the loan agencies where making a lot more money. At first the people could pay they're bills, but it was getting harder and harder to pay them. Bush starts his second term. people can hardy find enough money to pay for their houses. the people stop paying their house bills, and then it really hits the fan. Thousands of people get foreclosures and lose their houses. The stock market drops. Gas prices rise. This leaves everyone looking at bush. lawsuits are filed against Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (the companies that gave the risky loans) that ruin them. Before that, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac also gave a lot of money to........ guess who? Barrack Obama, he profited about a million dollars if i remember right. But I am not going to get into the reasons of why I dislike Obama, he is our 44th president and i cant change that, so i wish him well, and I hope he lives up to his promises and leads this great country in the right direction.

also let's not forget that more than a decade ago we could have sent in troops to take down osama bin laden, but no Bill Clinton decided to withdraw our troops, and look what happened on 9/11 because of it. So if you're a democrat don't feed us this crap about republicans messing up. Because no one is perfect republican or democrat. We should stay in until we blow every one of those b***ards away.mad because if we stand by and let them live, they'll just keep attacking

This post has no place on this site. This is not a political forum. I live 20 minutes outside Chicago and have my own opinions regarding this subject that I would be more than happy to pack this page with. However, that would be unconscionable considering that neither Obama, Bush, McCain, nor the issues the represent have anything to do with DOW nor Warhammer 40K.

I am a very Conservative Republican. Now I have no problem with a democrat being elected President of the United States of America (people make mistakes lol). I am no racist and I think it's wonderful that a black man can be elected President. However... Barack Hussein Obama?

Did you know that you do not have the name Hussein unless you are Muslim? That btw I confirmed was true. I don't have the site link anymore but a Muslim man confirmed it was true. Now most Muslims are perfectly fine people that live there lives and are nice folks. Then there are the kamikaze Muslims. The terrorists. Wouldn't it be wonderful for them to get one of their own (or even just a sympathizer) in the White House? We all know he's gonna pull our troops out of the Middle East. We all have our own opinion there. My personal one is that that will be a mistake. Have you thought about the accomplishments we've made there? The innocents that have been saved? Sure many of the American fighting men and women have laid down their lives... in defense of this country and of those innocents. Every one of them knew what they were getting into though when they joined the military. And I bet that if given the chance, none of them would do a damn thing different.

How 'bout issues here at home now that Obama is America's first Czar... I MEAN 44th President. Sorry... common mistake I make about him now since he's a communist. Re-distribution of wealth? So, the people that actually work for the living... get taxed even more than we do now... to help people who are too lazy to work... and illegal aliens from Mexico and across the globe? Ya know I know how bad it is in some countries but damn it they have no right to break the law and enter America illegally. It's just being impatient!

Long story short... anyone who works and makes an average or good amount of money... is done. The wars we are fighting... will be lost... and for the four years we will controlled by a very dangerous man. That is my personal opinion on the matter.

barrack obama is a huge symbol of hope for USA's international relationships.
only the fact that an african american has been elected president, shows the rest of our worldwide nations that americans in general arent that small minded and ignorant as many has come to think.

america NEEDS this after 8 years of an international "with us, or against us" policy.

I can agree with very few of these posts (redeemed74's post was one of the few good ones). However, I do agree with the posts stating that this political discussion should not be on the main page news for a large number of gaming sites.

I could understand a news post on filefront stating that Obama has initiated a federal level ESRB (example). But simply an announcement that he won the election should .:not:. be noted. If those visiting this site don't know that already, then you have some pretty ignorant people on here (but of course, that isn't true, so a news post is unnecessary).

If the administrators really felt the need to post this news, then at the very least, they should have disabled comments. Who could have thought that a debate would not be the result?

I come back from a nice day of college, after gladly hearing that Obama has won, only to read racist, comparisons to Hitler, the general idiocy of Socialism = Communism. I despise those who do that, we're all humans, race does not matter, nor does sexual preference. If you weren't to like him because of his policies, fine. If you dislike him because of his race, get off this site, go to school and learn about equality.

Also, going to school will give you the ability to learn about the differences of communism and socialism. If you're saying socialism is evil, surely that must mean that Britain, and the various socialist democracies in the world are evil?

I'm glad he won, he was clearly the superior candidate. I'd have thought most of the votes the other guy got, what's-his-name, were from racist patriots / rednecks.

Also, racists should be beaten and/or killed.

This Entire Election was Mainly about Race, whether people want to be absent about that fact or not. Racism and Racial Judgements were high on both sides.
Race is the top reason Obama won and made such a huge impact to History and the World. If Obama was another Old White Man, the impact would be insignificant.

From what I see, this just gives more reason for people to bicker about their races. Racial Groups still thinking they're so oppressed, the amounts of ignorance was futile.
The up-coming years, people may think there'll be such a huge change and hope, but I don't see much change coming... The President isn't a Dictator... and unless Obama becomes the next Hitler or Napolean, he's not going to change the World.

Anyways, this message aint meant for hate, but I'm telling it like it is.
I congrat Obama and am looking forward to what he can do as a President. Though, I'm personally not expecting such a huge change, as so many people make it.

obama will be a great president
i just hate though how so many people find that stupid stupid prededdices and steriotypes and things that john macain himself said were not true about barak obama are still used agaimst him

the only thing i have found 1 thing against him, 1 out of the hundreds of things against him, 1, that would be any problem. But if he is smart, he will surround himsef with people with expirience in that 1 part, his age, that he does not have.

I vote for Barak Obama

i'll be here whenever it is time for revolution.

but congrats to obama, even if i felt like i lost it was still a GG Rock

Well, this is a dark day in US History. Don't get me wrong, the US is ready for a African American President, but I don't think we're ready for Obama. The house and senate are full Democrat and now the balance is done. Good bye Old USA, we'll miss you for 4 years.

USA, always have to be the most important thing on this world. I hate that USA elections are so important, it only gives bad reputation to the country, it's like USA is the land of gods or something like this.. .

I just laugh so hard, nothing is gonna change, they are politicians.... lol

Seriously. You people are sensitive. Go grow a set of balls and be quiet. The election is over. Grab a Snickers and eat it. It'll make you feel better.

Not exactly the news post i expected to find when i thought i'd check back in on DOW Files. Last time i checked, these network websites were designed for the hosting and discussion of files relevent to certain games. And since filefront is a website that hires from all over the globe and not just from the USA (asside from the fact that FF is based in the USA) i see no reason why this political post should be posted on a gaming network at all.

We're all games drawn together by our love of certain game titles. Throw polotics and religion into that perfect compination and your more than likely to end up with spam and flaming, which i see has happened on a few occasions. In all due respect, i didn't see a news post congratulating Tony blair on a fantastic job and welcoming Gordon Brown. Nor did i see a news post relating to any other countries polotics.

Now, i was all for Obama as opposed to McCain only because i didn't want Palin anywhere near the oval office. (i'm not sexist, just a bit concerned aobut some of her political views) So yes, i'm happy with the outcome.

ok, rant over. but i stated my opinions.

p.s.

Quote:
This post has no place on this site. This is not a political forum. I live 20 minutes outside Chicago and have my own opinions regarding this subject that I would be more than happy to pack this page with. However, that would be unconscionable considering that neither Obama, Bush, McCain, nor the issues the represent have anything to do with DOW nor Warhammer 40K.

replace "DOW" and "Warhammer 40k" "any of the network gaming sites on filefront" and thats a very good opinion.

Cheers,
Killa cool

First off I would like to congratulate and wish Obama luck. For becoming President, you just got to give him props, no matter what race he is.

Secondly, I proudly did NOT vote as I believe that Obama is no superman. This "Change" is either going to be worse, or no better off than McCain. McCain isn't all that great a choice either. The change American needs, I believe, is a strong, united, third party, that acts as a middle ground for the 2 extremes. However, since I'm not in charge frown all I have to say is this:

Let's hope for the best, and prepare for the worst.

My only problem is the ignorance people tend to show about this election.

Obama isn't a Muslim. If he was, big deal.

The whole "We're doomed/f**ked/ect is redisculous, since comments like that are rarely backed up.

The race bit goes both ways. Georgia, Mississippi, and Alabama (I have nothing against those states btw) all went to Mccain by a big margin. It probably had at least something to do with race, as did Harlem, New York.

Obama is from Hawaii. Not Iraq. Not Kenya. Hawaii.

Impeach Obama? For what? Impeachment comes when someone in a position of power outright violates a law, or abuses his/her power. Obama isn't even president yet. And I can't see him doing either of the two.

Obama is Christian.

Well, that sums up some silly rumors that are still lurking around. By the way, I respect Mccain as a senator, and of course as a veteran who went through a horrific inprisonment and survived. As a presidential candidate, no way. Tons of outright false ads, lies, and the choice of Palin (And it seems to me he only picked her towin over women voters, and as a simple PR stunt) lost him this election, as did the economy.

First good news from the USA in a while. I was half expecting Obama to lose due to a recount in Florida or something, or maybe an invasion of Georgia, but luckily it didn't happen. I just hope he's not the same old thing with a black face...
Wonder if the turnout was higher than last time? In a place where 60% of the electorate voting is a record, maybe a dictatorship woulld be more appropriate...
It's not like the two main parties are that different anyway
I'd have preferred it if Putin won the election; that'd be amazing
CoD4 for everyone! Can't believe he's played it

I'm British and am happy that Obama is President elect as it shows that the Colour segregations that were major factors in many american states do look as though they may be receding. Which is a big step towards change in america.

i agree on some of what you said, it doesnt matter were hes from or what race he is. and whoever said impeachment is just stupid, he hasent done anything yet. but i DONT agree on the fact that he was a Christian. HOW can you sit in a church were the preacher is a racist and anti-american. he said and i quote ''Not God bless America, But God **** America''. you cannot call yourself a Christlike when you listen to that nonsense. Obama is not a Christian. that terms used to much in this country, people think if they go to church on sunday for years and are there EVERY sunday then you are saved, its sadCry And Obama has fallen for that deception. Im a Christian, i know how to play the ''Church'' and im ''saved'' routne, i did it for many years.

oh well im done with this thread, it should'nt of been here in the first place

Idiots. the right wing media continues to go on about reverand wright, who said the whole "God d*mn america" yet fails to explain his quite. he's not d*mning the country or the people, hes d*mning the failing government. that aside, im not a fan of crazy religious preachers, but that would be a big part of our freedoms and constitution that republicans are so quick to quote. and i have yet to see ANYTHING that resembles obama agreeing with his dellusions. Rock

another thing. My respect for mccain rose sharply after that speech, lets hope his followers do the same in the coming months/years. a very excellent speech that i felt was great to open for obamas speech. Beer! Beer!

now i gotta hope that the democrats don't mess up like they did back at clintons administration. eek!

O.K, list of critisisms against Obama
1. pulling out of Iraq instantly and letting it fall into chaos just means another enemy in the middle east, one that is even more ticked because it will interpret our time in iraq as an attack against islam. better idea: put Iraq under martial law
2. cutting funding for our great military after making us a strong enemy is a sure way to get us attacked.
3. disarming civilians is stupid in general. we didnt invade Japan during WWII because all of their civilians were armed to the teeth and willing to fight to the last man, woman, and child.
3. putting everyone on federal healthcare is a socialist idea. everyone is paying for their own healthcare essentuaially under that policy, and some who arent paying taxes are covered... that seems rather stupid to me
4. limiting income will only cause the rich to fly their private jets out of this country, taking their money, and the jobs they make in this country with them. those that stay will cut down on how many employees they have, how much they pay those employees and their benefits, and raise the prices of their goods and services. so much for Obamatopia
5. socialism NEVER WORKED. U.S.S.R, North Korea, Vietnam, all of these places arent working. China has "free market zones" where they make the most money in their whole country. personally I think that at this point, the midwest should secede and have the east and west coast be socialist while the midwest adopts the constitution of the united states and scraps most of the useless legislation that has been made since then.
well... that is my five cents when it comes to Obama... make of it what you will

look... we are having lotsa troops killed in Iraq because the area is not under martial law. the men and women fighting there have to wait for a fellow solder/marine to get shot(not shot at, SHOT) before they can return fire. the area needs martial law, and we need tog et the numbers in there to do a building-by-building search of the place and have our soldiers able to kill the enemy as soon as he sees the AK and the turban.

You're breaking rules 1&2.

Obama will do some minor to moderate changes(more minor than moderate). This is still the US we're talking about here. They're gonna try and destroy Al-Qaeida(sp?) and the Taliban. They'll probably still do the sending of special forces to stop socialists and communists. He might fix the economy, and some other things, but the country will still have the whole "World Police" attitude.

That's probably the simplest I could ever squeeze something that could take 4-5 paragraphs into one.

Oh and ill say this again so people won't miss.

"Obama isn't a Muslim. If he was, big deal.

The whole "We're doomed/f**ked/ect is redisculous, since comments like that are rarely backed up.

Obama is from Hawaii. Not Iraq. Not Kenya. Hawaii.

I love all the positive comments here, all about America being doomed and liberty dying with thunderous applause and all that. Really gives one hope for the future.

1) Obama's not Muslim, he's biologically Kenyan from his dad's side...and Irish from his mother's side.

2) McCain wouldn't have made a bad president, and I might have voted for him, but then he decided to take Palin as VP. If you tap her head, you can hear echoes.

3) America, despite all the hits that the economy has taken, is still a formidable power and will remain so until and unless another country can influence global economics and politics like we do.

4) Obama's not a socialist.

5) He won't risk cutting funding for the military because Russia is becoming increasingly obnoxious. Like Teddy Roosevelt said, speak softly, but carry a big stick.

6) Pulling out of Iraq will not happen immediately, whether Obama wants to or not. It will be a phased withdrawal, and US troops may stay if the Iraqi government wants them to.

7) Clinton didn't really mess up, seeing as he left office with trillions surplus.

.....hehe......

I'm laughing because, like many have said before me, this should not be on a gaming site. We, the gaming people, love killing each other in multiplayer games. The first thing we'd most likely do is to pick a side and fight for it. That turns into forum flaming.

Also, like people have also said before me, this was not a race vote. If every black american voted for Obama, while all the white americans voted McCain, McCain would have won. This vote, was for what people wanted. But that's all I'm going to say on this issue. I've lost too many friends after getting into politics with them, so I'm not about to go back to that.

Regardless, good luck Obama, I hope you can do the job well.

"5. socialism NEVER WORKED. U.S.S.R, North Korea, Vietnam, all of these places arent working. China has "free market zones" where they make the most money in their whole country. personally I think that at this point,"

You know why it didn't work?

Because of the US. Communism was not given a chance so far, without it being bothered by right wing conservatives and the US. Cuba, is not doing so bad, the reason they are still poor is because of trade restrictions because of the US. Besides, the point of Communism isn't to own everything, it's to be equal.

"3. disarming civilians is stupid in general. we didnt invade Japan during WWII because all of their civilians were armed to the teeth and willing to fight to the last man, woman, and child."

Japan invaded us because we started to cut trade to them slowly. We were basically killing their life line, so they attacked us in retaliation. The US government wanted this.

Sorry if this is counted as flaming, even though it shouldn't since it doesn't contain insults. Also sorry for the double post.

I can't even call China Communist, that's just a blanket over their Capitalist and oppressive country.

"2. cutting funding for our great military after making us a strong enemy is a sure way to get us attacked."

You know, if we were to cut half of the military's spending, just half. We come out of this recession and into a prosperous age.

Also, if we pulled out of Iraq when they also want us out of there, would probably lessen tensions.

Thank god that we finally got a sensible man in office. With Obama in the big chair, I can tell that he's going to change the world, along with that, our country. Remember the old saying: "When America sneezes, the world gets a cold."
Hence Obama's election, I believe that the bridge has been completed, the final slab of wood has been placed on the scaffold first erected in 1863. From the first day of freedom of slaves, to black suffrage granted to the US, all the way through the civil rights moment, and now to this historic moment of a black man finally being elected as the President of the United States of America. We have finally willed ourselves to a man of different color, name and idea into the White House, leading the way to a rejuvenation of the country.
...but, how can we dare label him as a Socialist? Or even fathom him as a Communist? Im a Democratic Socialist, but he is no where near where I believe Socialism lies. You want to know about Communism, everyone? Read Animal Farm, by George Orwell. Then believe me, he is no Communist.
On a final note, I give thanks and good luck to him. May these next four years be the greatest we've had in many years!

The United States of America was founded on the beliefs of a free people, a people that could do anything they believed in and free from the opressions of the insolent majority of the world, they didnt have to follow any certain religion, or live in any exact way, they were a nation of Leaders, and yes of Humble followers to the dream that drives America's ingenuinity and spirit in even today's surroundings and challenges.

-First of all these claims of calling Obama some sort of "baby killer" because he advocates for the Womens right to choice over what she does her own god given body is absolutely unintelligent and ridiculous pathetic diversionary tactics of the McCain campaign, and its sheepish followers.

-Second of all whats wrong about that?, in the constiution we are granted FREEDOM OF RELIGION, (you know that thing that says we dont have to follow any specific rules or regulations of any certain religion? and we are allowed to follow any choice in spiritual guidance in the path which we choose to do so? free from the ridiculous majority spite?) The thing that bugs me about these people that are so desperatly pro-life and go around trying to cut down anyone with an actual opinion seriously *****es me off. NOONE has to abide to your christian values if they do not choose to do so, so please and kindly stfu. We dont need to hear more of the same b.s., get with the program AMERICA HAS SPOKEN.

-Lastly id like to congradulate Barack Obama on his historic rise to the presidency, it is truly a marvel how far America has come since its foundings of racial and religious prejudice. As to all these cynics that are trying to leaden down the true victory the American people have won yesterday, i spit on you, and seriously hope you leave this country with your horrible Unamerican values that got us to this recession in the first place.

-overall i only have two words to say to these sore loser republicans out there:

-gg. Pimp!
Two Thumbs Up!

Truth, I, like most people don't know what's gonna happen to USA from now on, but still... It's a fact that the big majority of USA CHOSE to leap into this cloudy future... this is like a slap in the face of history itself... there's a much deeper meaning into this than I can put into words. But what I mean is, something this big just wouldn't happen for the worst, that much I know.

I'm not American, so, all I can say is, Yes you can wink

#84 My gosh I agree with everything you say. i have been trying to tell people why we stay in Iraq. You all think we are harming them?! Only those that assasinate our civilians, which we so diligently avoid doing to theirs.

Also McCain may have been our only hope to destroy the genocide we inflict on ourselves... Abortion... Obama supports this and will let it continue for as long as he can. If you support it, maybe you don't understand the nature of this abomination. It is legal almost all the way through pregnancy. The murder and mutilation of a human in a state the we ourselves all were. They may use toxic solutions to poison the unborn baby. They may stick a tube into its head! And suck its life away! They may simply remove it from its mother. Stab it... Or leave it to die.
They may simply rip it apart with their "surgical" tools. Some doctors this country has. Believe me, the unborn babies can feel pain as good as we can. We can't let this continue. In the US alone, 3700 babies die every day from abortion. In the

It is the woman's choice to get THEIR baby aborted, let them decide for themselves. The doctors are NOT going on killing sprees. They are paid to do this job under the woman's right to abort the baby. The tools are surgical, for they are ment to be precise. You speak like they're using hatchets and hooks to get the baby out. The US is killing innocent civilians in BOTH Iraq and Afghanistan. Are you that blind?

(I still don't think I am flaming, hence no insults. If I do start doing flaming, like BTK did, just leave a note like you did for him, instead of deleting my post, so that way I can stop and make sure im not flaming anymore.)

You are extemely passionate about what you believe in, i can tell, you fight for the lives or those who in your opinion cannot fight back, and i do truly commend you for that,

-However, you could not be more WRONG about the war of Iraq and the concept of Abortion in the United States of America.

-Firstly, for someone who so rigidly fights for the rights over unborn children, you sure seem to be stupidly ignorant to the fact that we have sent 4,000 Innocent young men to Iraq to their deaths for the wants and needs of the Republican government, and ofcourse those needs are: oil, military base establishment, money for the companies that finance the war, revenge for Saddam's assasination attemps on George Bush's father, and ofcourse to give George Bush's YEEHAW buddies loads of cash from the manufacterers of tanks and arms to the United States Military.

-Bush was not a Hero for what he did during 9/11, hell he was a total moron when it came to the decisions he made, Al Gore or John Kerry obviously would have been more capable and would have made better choices to benefit America during the times of Al Quada high majority. the most obvious fix would have been to not enter Iraq because they 100% had nothing to do with 9/11 it was all to blame to Osama Bin Laden's Schemes in Afganistan. (the only war which i will support because it is actually going after the guy who commited the 9/11 crimes.)

-i do not wish to be offensive but when you spread these lies across to everyone and expect to be taken seriously i feel a certain obligation to fact check your insolence.

-If you truly wanted to make a difference on Abortion maybe you should become a congressman or lobbyist and try to spam your view in the House and Senate, it would be much more successful than sitting here spamming your Unamerican views of Women's inability to choice in our Society.

Obama being elected is not the end to life as we know it. He's not just pulling all our troops out of Iraq either, he wants an end to it yeah but he's not going to just bring them all home in a day. And because he says he wants to "negotiate" with countries like Iran and North Korea doesn't mean God has to save us. I think Obama would make the same decision Bush made after 9/11, we were attacked, so we're going to strike back. I DON'T think he'd make the decision Bush made in attacking Iraq, and I think that's good. You shouldn't judge someone before they even take office. History will judge the president, just as it has the first 42 (Bush is still prez for 2 months guys). America is not going to whither and die, take a cue from McCain, a true patriot and American. He supports Obama because he knows that a divided America WILL need God's help. Only we can destroy ourselves. Well, okay maybe not only we, but if someone else tries it will be much better if we're united, no matter who the president is.

Frankly I don't know what to think about all these post!
Obama was put in office by the people.....And that is the way it is.. " FAIR "

Do we as a people need to be reminded why we like "Star Trek" ?

Freedom for All
Equality
Human writes
Non Racist

Where would the Star Trek Universe be with all that racist?
-No where,we would have killed the Vulcan's at first site...
-The Federation would have never happened...

If Gene Roddenberry could see how some of his fans act ,I think he mite be disappointed

I would think that everyone that belongs to this site would be a "Star Trek Fan"
as such ,A person would think that as a Trekkie you believe in the way things are in the Star Trek world that "Gene Roddenberry " worked so hard to achieve and died believing in. I am ashamed at some of these post an how people act . I would hope that those people would never have the opportunity to meet an alien race ,if so , the world would be in deep trouble..and we as a "Whole Race" on one planet would never have the chance to widen our humanity from thinking we are so special because we have the same skin. We as a people of this planet have the same DNA ... only 1% separates us from a toad.
So answer this question,Why have the Statue of Liberty in the US ?

The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

I don't get it.

I do not see the reason why this news item is significant (or relevant) to a file gaming network such as FileFront.

With all due respect Mr.Funsocks, I think this news item does not belong here at all. While I don't think it should be deleted, I do think that replies should be disabled from this point on.

That's just my two cents.

#171 Warriorbourne, I commend you for your zealousness... However, None of us know the true nature of the war. Also, she does not need to keep the baby. That's why the invented adoption. Women do have that choice. The innocent babies do not. Also, soldiers willingly joined the army to serve their country. Even to death if it need be. And we continue to honor them.

Also, #167, No. The baby dies brutally. Not going into detail due to graphic nature- Mr.Funsocks
Is this so different when the baby is litterally on life-support inside his or her mother. In the name of God, It is a child! Not a choice! If you don't want your own child, for any reason, put it up for adoption. Cpl_Death ... WarriorBourne...
You are only mislead. The agents of hell may even be influincing you about abortion. The war? Well, none of us know what is really happening over there. So, I pray that your mind is changed and you check your own ignorance. May God have mercy on our souls! God save America!

Hell? I laugh at it and come back.
Irony. YOU are mislead, not us. We actually represent a majority of thought in the States.

"If you don't want your own child, for any reason, put it up for adoption."

The world has 6.5 billion people. There are so many orphans. You can't just be like "bye. you might be adopted" and send out your baby to be adopted.

"So, I pray that your mind is changed and you check your own ignorance."

haha......haha

-Also, Cpl Death makes a valid point, you need to understand, fableroy your point of view is not the RIGHT point of view. you also need to maybe grow up past high school, calling someone corrupted is like anti-christian in the first place. LOL you blame Reverand Wright for hate preaching, and hear you are speaking of pure hate for someone you dislike.

The only thing Fableroy represents is the ignorant small religion based decision making part of America, nameingly The Republican party, who tend to think with their wallets and greed, rather than their Brains (democrats),

-The only innocent children that needs representation are the roughly 4000 Americans who have died in a uneeded war in Iraq, you sicken me to the core, you careless ignorant insolent misguided Lunatic, if you had to fight in the soldiers shoes facing grenades and roadside bombs as his daily life, or the mother that has to bear the loss of her son because the Republican Government thinks its fun to trade blood for oil, YOU SIR, ARE THE PERSON WITH HIS HONOR SAPPED AWAY.

# 185 Listen, friend. This has nothing to do with religion. Killing is illegal. A serious crime worth possibly the murderer's life. Willfull ignorance? Look in the mirror! Back on religion. Join the fight against abortion. Save an innocent baby from miserable, painfull deaths. Give him or her a chance to laugh, cry, and speak out with their own opinion. Rowe VS. Wayde. That is when liberty died. I offer this hand of friendship once and only once. Help stop the genocide, or God may turn his back on America. I have thought I may be wrong. I thought for a long time. And now more than ever defending the innocent is right. Now you think; just for a little, that you may be wrong. And post your thoughts here. I will be waiting.

...You just responded...to yourself. By realized that was meant for me.

"And I represent the multiple millions of innocent children that have died at the hands of this selfish culture the world has "evolved" into!"

No, no you don't.

You know the Bible ISN'T the literal truth (omg! who would have known!?). 61% of Americans take it as the literal truth, im guessing you're one of those numbers.

To all the people saying Obama is a Commie

"An important fact Republican Jesus freaks (you know, the typically ignorant ones ["I believe Sarah Palin is filled with the Holy Spirit."/"Obama is a Muslim terrorist."]) fail to remember is that the Old Testament, and Christianity thereafter, was based on "communalism" - a divergent lexiconal creation mean to separate it from the plague word of "communism." The two, despite calling a duck a swan, are the same thing. A community draws from a central store of money and goods."

#187 Millions have died! Over thirty years! I may even join those soldiers some day. May the 4000 soldiers rest in everlasting paradise with God! You were once an unborn baby, too. Can't you relate to them. We had no defense. No choice. The soldiers have guns. They chose to join the army. It's just not fair. Has anyone noticed that the ones who support the killing of children are the violent ones. I'd bet if he could, warriorbourne would reach through the screen and strangle me to death. And as my life slowly slipped away, I would simply pray for God to forgive him, and my self, for my sins. And I would join those babies I've defended in everlasting life.

My last comment for this article, i cannot tolerate to play this game with your leaden ears,

-First and Foremost, i am not your friend, your qualities (namefully stubborn ignorance, are the last things i look for in a decent human being.)

-Furthurmore, do not adress me as any sort or unreligious individual, i am an outspoken Christian, who advocates for the rights and freedoms presented by our founders in the American Constitution, As much as i dislike the concept of small children dieing, i do not need to endlessly cry about how horrible their unregistered mindless minds feel pain and death, an undeveloped Human Embryo in the first trimester can feel nothing, its nerves have not even developed yet, you stupid fool, ofcourse having an aborption in the second or third trimester is ridiculous, if your going to wait that long and are still undecided, you should just have the baby, HOWEVER, in the first trimester the women should have the absolute right to choose to have an aborption if she so wishes to do so, say what you wish, but that is and what will always be for our American Lives,

-Roe vs Wade was not when Liberty Died you godforsaken individual, it was when we made an INTELLIGENT decision to allow mothers the right to choose what they do with their own *****ing Child in their own *****ING body,

-If you dare insult me once more as some corrupted unreligious individual, im going to see to it that you are banned from this website, that is absolutely unacceptable, and entirely Unethical in any standards,

-im going to ask once more for this article to be muted, this is seriously agrivating to read these lies and filth spreading from this ignorant fool, i respect the community but this has gone on long enough,

-i have mades my points numerous times, they need not be said again, from here on out on this article i am ceasing and decisting, I realize its pointless to argue with those who will not listen to the truth

"This has nothing to do with religion."

"Back on religion"

"Help stop the genocide, or God may turn his back on America."

You contradict yourself, you lose.

"Help stop the genocide, or God may turn his back on America."

Why are you talking like God only supports the US. Like the US is "God's country". It's not.

Also, You do realize Islam, Judaism, and Christianity are VERY similar religions with only few differences?

It is very interesting to see how an announcement about the President elect has turned into ranting, bitterness, and rage on each side. Hopefully all who have posted violent comments will be able to compose themselves and have a decent discussion about our nation's new President, rather than throwing gasoline on fire and being surprised that an explosion happened.

(On a side note, WarriorBourne, how exactly could you see to it that someone else is banned here? Are you a filefront admin, because after your name, all I see is "member". I'm not trying to start a fight with you, I'm just curious.)

You wish to know why America is the Greatest Country in the world? Ill will tell you why, its because when we fight vigourously for our positions, we eventually retain the sense we need to eventually lead to compromises that benefit the majority, and the Whole, and America has spoken, Barack Obama will serve as the American Decider of our ways.

-That is the beauty of America,

-Its also because we dont ignorant posts such as yours break down our indominable spirit.

-I would like to beleive that is what all Americans think, atleast it is what i and my friends believe.

Watched the votes as they came in. Didnt think it would be such a whitewash. Im pleased that Obama won. His acceptance speech was very impressive from my point of view to say the least, and Mcain and Obama seem to have a mutual respect for each other that I think goes a long way.

You lot are right though. Only time will tell.....

WOW there are a lot of posts in one day!

Lemme just give my two cents on this. Obama won, fair and square. So Congratulations to him and Biden. Hopefully they'll lead us where we need to go.

But no matter what, we still should give respect to the president. That includes the "evil" Bush. He's still our president, and we should respect his position as such. That doesn't mean we respect the man or his views, we should respect that he's our president. It's a hard concept, and unfortunately most people just don't care or don't want to.

Hopefully that'll change.

@205,
I'm American with a Utopian View.
There are many countries that Elect "Leaders" of any Gender, Age, Race...etc...
America is still in its baby steps... Americans can't even come to a mutual agreement, they always just bicker and fight, with nothing to offer.
I'm sorry but America is not the greatest country in the world, far from it.

But who cares, countries are imaginary anyways.
I'm out of this "thread". peace.

I know I've said some bad things about him, but after reading this, I think I've changed my mind. Please read.

Quote:
God is soveriegn over everything. He new who was going to win because He is sovereign. He was not surprised since it was His will. He is and always in control of everything. So right now we all need to be praying for Mr. Obama and his family. He may look young and fresh now, but four years of no sleep and lots of worry age people. This is a job I would not wish on anyone.

Guys!
How will the Human race ever explore space ? We as a race stuck on this one planet can't even get alone with each other over an election. If an alien race is out there watching us they would probably never step foot (or what ever) on this planet for fear of there lives because they are different and have other beliefs .
Its ashame that mankind as sucumb to such .....

Obama's own words

This guy ,our President is now in control of our government. Pay close
attention to the last comment!! Below are a few lines from Obama's books
-- his words:

From Dreams of My Father: 'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the
age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was
ingratiating myself to whites.'

From Dreams of My Father : 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense
of grievance and animosity against my mothers race.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'There was something about him that made me
wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.'

From Dreams of My Father: ; 'It remained necessary to prove which side
you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and
name names.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'I never emulate white men and brown men whose
fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black
man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in
myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'

From Audacity of Hope: 'I will stand with the Muslims should the
political winds shift in an ugly direction.'

I'm moving to Canada!

Well, at least Obama will try to end the war. That will be good for our country. It's just too bad people feel they have to vote for either the Republican or Democratic candidate, or we could have someone in office who is a good president, instead of the less of two evils.

Anyways, Congrats, and please, think about something other than your pocket while you are in office!

Is like saying that Milk is spicey. I say Obama and McCain were one of the same, both conservatives and both unqualified. The only difference is that Obama ran on a platform of change while McCain just did his best to make him look bad. Had McCain actually tried to focus more onto making his own campaign look good, as Obama did, he might've actually brought it to a tie.

lol poor thing...enjoy the next for years of epic fail...you deserved it.

"I say Obama and McCain were one of the same, both conservatives and both unqualified."

Thats about as far off as you can get...Obama is liberal and McCain is conservative and McCain is more qualified than Obama could ever hope to be.

We all wish Barrack well and congrats on his historic win. As someone who was fairly opposed to Barrack, I can say I ended up voting for him, and I feel good about it. A lot of people talk about change, and cannot quantify it. I will for you:
It was time for a change from the Republicans and their strangelhold over our government. I may not know what I'm going to get with Obama, but we know what were going to get with John McCain, a very honorable man that I respect and could've have voted for if it was only about him, unfortunatly it isn't.

The worldwide reaction to Obama being our next President is a great thing. The world sees it as America is BACK, and if that is what BArrack brings to the table, then SO BE IT.

GL BARRACK!!!! Make us proud, and don't F it up=]

Ugg, so many posts to read, so little time. But I'm with #45, I think also that we may very well see the "race card" used a bit more by people and by the media, whether positive or negative.

well, i made it through the first 100 or so posts, and just couldn't read anymore, so sorry if anything i say is a repeat of what's been said, and offending anyone is my last intention. That being said, here goes:

a) while I rejoice that Bush is gone, as in my opinion, he had a "my way or else" attitude, Barrack, just like Bush, has limited power. Yes, he can veto bills that get passed. But his veto can be overturned by congress.

b)Redistribution of wealth to help the poor is not neccesarily "give money to the lazy". I myself work 40+ hours a week, and struggle to get by. When i'm barely making the minmum wage (as the company i work for doesn't believe in cost-of-living increases) yet the CEO banks over 10 mil a year when our company is struggling, theres something wrong.

c)I've seen religion being brought up repeatedly in regards to Obama, as in his middle name being a muslim name, the leader of his church, etc. I coulda sworn that the US constition CLEARLY states a seperation of church and state? So why his religous affiliation should matter is beyond me.....

d)The Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan: Well, I feel we shouldn't have been in Iraq. The reasoning wasn't there, and we still were persecuting the actions in Afghanistan anyways.... yes, 9/11 was a horrible tradegy. But we CANNOT hold countries liable for the actions of a group of guerrilas who were acting by their own recozignance. Osama is a Saudi Arabian, and the perpetrators were of varios nationalities. They represent an extreme form of Islam. As to Afghanistan..... well, we've been over their before, because the USSR wanted it. (I believe this was in the 80's) Do we need to be there? I don't know. But I'd sure like to know what's going on! Because everything's about Iraq. You rarely hear ANYTHING about what's happening there.

Anyways.... Yeah, i'm done. Congratulations Obama on your victory, and a thank you to McCain for graciously admitting to defeat. Hopefully the two of you and congress will be able to amend some of our damaged reputation with the world.

it's not like we didin't know, i mean, we're the ufp, we already know everything that happens in the past.

which is what's happening now.

"Everything that happens now, is happening now.
What happened to then?
We passed then?
When?
Just now. We're at now, now.
Go back to then.
When?
Now.
Now?
Now.
I can't.
Why?
We missed it.
When?
Just now.
When will then be now?
Soon.
How soon?

Sir.

What?

We've identified their location.

Where?

It's the Moon of Vega.

Good work. Set a course, and prepare for our arrival.

When?

Nineteen-hundred hours, sir.

By high-noon, tomorrow, they will be our prisoners.

WHoooooo?!"

As a member of the US military, I'm disappointed that in 10 years or so we will have to fight the same war again, and if America doesn't wake up, some leader like this will "end" it prematurely again, and terrorism will just rebuild itself.

For those of you who say that Cuba is actually doing well (Cuba is socialist, not communist, by the way), read "Wings of the Morning" by Orestes Lorenzo. He defected to the US in the early 90's and then risked being captured by flying back to Cuba low over the water, landing on a road near the beach, and picking up his family. (Cuba wouldn't allow his family to join him in the US) He has just a few things to say about Cuba's economy and leadership.

very immature. you say the only reason why McCain got so many votes was because he is white, however the only reason Obama won was cause he is black.

I am not racist, but I do know the facts. 90 percent of black people voted for Obama, 75 percent of that was because he was black, or some issue having to do with race.

and also Racists have a right to be racist. if they didn't, the US population of EVERY race. would be cut off by more than half. people have the right to believe in whatever they wish.

lol at communism. you know for all the bad rep it gets its actually a perfect system. the problem lies in the imperfect humans who try to weild it. wink

At some points i wonder if people were more voting AGAINST bushie policies rather than FOR obama policies. although i do like his tax ideas. and i know im no lazy citizen. Rock

whats with all this "god rest our souls" and "world is over" i mean come on, its not like mccain won or anything. *grimace* imagine what would happen if a ditz like palin was in office Two Thumbs Down!

Oh well, good times, and for those people freaking about him pulling out of iraq, dont worry, we'll put the military to more important things... like Russia trying to take down Poland and Georgia.

Glad we finally have a president that can pull us out of the war (not right away of course, as that would be suicidal). @darthdoofus, its easy to see that you're one of the hicks that bought the story change. Terrorists attacked America, ok, but they were NOT in Iraq. The Bush administration thought "oh well, lets just go with that he's harboring WMD's and helping out terrorists", thus we invade Iraq under false pretense and rid out Saddam. Saddam is gone, yet we still haven't pulled out even after training Iraq their own army? Since when did the terrorists harbor and stay inside Iraq? Everything was said to be inside of Afghanistan at first, so why the story/scene change? I think it helps to figure this stuff out when you have family/friends over there. Also @MatmanDude, names mean nothing. I have the first name of my Grandfather who fought for the Germans in WW2, but does that mean I'm going to go around saying "kill jews/blacks/gays/gypsies/mentally handicapped/etc..." no. My last name is of Irish decent, yet you don't see me being a secret member of a terrorist organization from there.....oh wait....did I just infer that there or terrorism organizations outside the Middle East or being a Muslim? Sorry to spill the beans, but a lot of Americans need to grow up and educate themselves a bit more. I mean, we have our own people overseas fighting a war, yet we think we need to take a topic such as gay-marriage rights into governmental-topics? I thought there was supposed to be a seperation between church-state or church-government. If I want my views oppressed by a faction or a religion, I'll gladly go to some other totalitarian or other country. Anyways, I'm just glad that we'll have a president who will fight with words, not lives.

[sarcasm]McCain and Palin were the saviors of the US, and they lost. America is doomed. In one year, we'll be forced to constantly say "ALLAH OBAMA ALLAH OBAMA ALLAH OBAMA!!!"[/sarcam]

Honestly people, get a grip. Who'd you rather have? John McBush, who'd die in office then we'd get stuch with PALIN? Or Obama who if he died (God forbid) we'd get Joe Biden.

Biden would make a decent replacement, Palin's just awful. She had no idea Africa was a continent, she claims she had foreign experience because she can see Russia from her house, and she spent over 150 grand for clothes, as Aides revealed. That's just imperative.

..this will be a 1 term presidency.

McCain is not/was not George Bush. We got change, but the wrong change. The left wing loons that paid for 'this new guy's' campaign will want payback, and will want to run things. and.. any president will bring the troops home when it will work the right way. McCain as well. A lot of these comments reflect viewers of CNN (Corrupt news network) and NBC (Nothin' but Crap). Biased left wing liberal rhetoric with no basis in fact.

I love how people are overreacting to the outcome of the election. First there's the people who wanted mccain to win and think the world is somehow going to end because Obama won. Obama isnt a muslim, even if he was, so what? And then theres the people who think obama is god, I personally think he'll get the country back on the right track, but hes not going to change the friggin world.

I just have to say this, no offense intended, but that seems rather biased to me... maybe it might be preparing me for a country that will do the same to all my views, no matter where i post them.. that is where U.S.A is headed

Everyone says Obama's going to end the world, bring Socialism, etc. Want to know what I think? I love how the McCain supporters say all democrats are Socialist and UnAmerican.

Socialism, in its purest form is for equality for everyone. However, because humans are so imperfect, a perfect Socialism can't exist, if it did, the world would be in a very good state at the moment.

But I doubt he will start doing Socialist things, he's better than McCain and Palin. But seeing as everyone seems so oblivious to Obama and are absolutely convinced beyond reckoning that he's Socialist (even though they probably have no clue as to what Socialism really is), I may as well add fuel to the fire. Roll Eyes (sarcastic)

Heil Obama, derka derka muhammad jihad. Roll Eyes (sarcastic)

But hear me out, all Republicans accusing Democrats of being UnAmerican and vise versa. The very first Republican, Abraham Lincoln once said "A house divided against itself cannot stand." yeah, this whole "Republics are stubborn!" and "Democrats are commies!" thing is just further dividing said house. Remember the last time we didn't learn to get along? It costed us 618000 American lives.

Maybe instead of saying "Obama's Hitler 2.0! We're doomed!" or any other stuff like that. If you have to say it, wait until he really does screw us. Then you can say "We told you so." just like us Democrats did with Bush. Who knows? You may be pleasantly surprised with how he does.

McCain wasn't the savior of the US, I doubt Obama is. Obama isn't the Antichrist, I doubt McCain is either.

So, have fun completely blowing me off and going at President Obama.

Oh, and speaking from a nuetral point, Republican or Democrat, I'd feel much safer with Biden as President than I would Palin. Biden's at least got foreign experience. Palin's just a ditz who was elected purely for the women's vote. The fact she didn't know that Africa was a continent speaks volumes about her ability to preform should McCain kick the bucket. Roll Eyes (sarcastic)

Ok.... I'm not old enough to vote but reading most of the posts, this is what i'm getting....

For Mcain supporters: OMG!!! THE U.S. IS SCREWED!!!!!! or... forget his ideas he will get us attacked/raise taxes/kill babies/support terroism and... HE'S A COMMUNIST!!!! HE WILL BE A DICTATOR!!!!!

For Obama supporters: BUSH SUCKS!!! Mcain will screw us over! OBAMA IS MAKING ALL THE RIGHT DECISIONS!!! Bush/Mcain IS MAKING ALL THE WRONG DECISIONS!!!

I understand that this is mostly from flammers and/or strong republicans or democrats

I also understand that there are a lot of "good posts" and that everyone is not like this.

And lastly this is just what I have seen!!! NOT WHAT I THINK!!!!

She spent over 150 grand just to make herself look pretty, she goes around saying Obama's a buddy with Ayers when he wasn't, and she had no idea Africa was a continent.

Oh yeah, President material alright.

I doubt people who believe in white supremecy and all that crap are gonna let this go lightly. If obama sends his kids to a public school, wouldn't they make prime targets for people looking to hurt obama? I just wish obama would think about the safety of his family more. I am NOT a white supremiscist, i'm just worried about what these kinds of people would do to obama and his family

Palin didn't know that africa was a continent? Obama thought there were 57 states. Literally in one of his speeches he accidentally said "the 57 states of america" and there are actually 57 islamic states which is wierd

Hm. Yeah. The 'Maverick' woulda done so much better. Hell, I'm sure the boys in Iraq would *love* to stay there another 100 years.

I don't think Obama's necessarily the best man for the job, but he certainly beats McCain, and he surrounds himself with smart people. I'm interested to see what he does.

You all said that Iraq is a poinless war right? well who liked Bill clinton? he was involved in 2 ''intervening wars. Ever heard of Somalia? or Bosnia? we lost over 12,000 troops in Bosnia and a few hundred in somalia.

This really doesnt have to do with Obama, but you all say Bush and his policecs are so bad, but a DEMOCRAT lost more troops in Bosnia in less years then bush has in Iraq and Afganistan combined,

Bush also lowerd taxes, Put Real people on the suoreme court insted of a bunch of flamin librals, and helped to outlaw abortion (thank God). He also just past a bill that helps us get out of this crisis, Now Obama just wants to make a stimulas package to waste are money and make the country go into more debt, great idea.

And if i remember, Obama voted to go to iraq, look it up on the Senete voting records if you dont believe me. Also, if he's going to raise taxes any more than they are now, say to 35% or 40% of income, like he plans, then he'll cause more debt because then people wont be able to pay there bills that are rediculusly high as it is.

The last istari, WoW. what a socialist, man those left winged libral really got you in there snare dont they. You really believe that Socialism would work? This is America! not some europeian country! And we see how well there doing.

I wonder, are there any Servicemen on this site? i would like to see there opinion. If you forgot, they all joined on there own. So nobody ''threw there lifes away into a needless war''.

Obama has know idea what he's doing, he's doing, With his current plans, we'll have a Socialist country in 5-7 years, Terrorist attacks on our soil in a decade or sooner, And, if he try's to make it to soicalist, A second Civil War. you are right istari, ''A nation divided against itself cannot stand''.

oh one last thing. im pretty sure i spelled Bosnia wrong.

omg! god forbid we stop trying to continue the failing system of "trickle down" economics! cause everyone knows that its rich people who say "i have extra 100000, lets start a business!" please. Roll Eyes (sarcastic)

the taxation deal seems sound in my eyes, but this thing has been discussed previously so it may be moot point to keep beating a dead horse. all i can say is "giving some breaks to those who keep our workers here in the US and taxing those who fail to do so" seems fine to me, and apparently obama agrees.

though... i gotta critique... call yourselfs americans? trying to fearmonger citizens by calling him socialist and communist and relating him to various nefarious characters, i hardly think so. IMO your a failure to your country if you chose to bring it down from the inside by voiceing outlandish and unfounded problems to the unwitting public. if of course, you have stuff to back it up, then its your perrogative wink

Im not saying follow obama like a blind goat, sure--feel free to have caution, as it is your country-given right. but this continuous doomsday situations are getting old.

if this is too.... er... flamey. im sorry, and feel free to block it. cool

Indeed.

And another thing,

Names mean nothing when it comes to your religion. There is seriously nothing stopping a person from taking the name Joshua Solomon or Aaron Cohen, even if they aren't Jewish. Nothing stops you from taking a Muslim name despite being a Christian. True, you might get lynched by 1 or more parties, but that's beside the point.

Just because your name says "Jewish schmuck" or "Muslim person", it doesn't mean you are Jewish or Muslim...

I'm done, activate the anti-flak shields!

I said a Socialism in its purest form would work, but as I said, a pure Socialism does not exist due to the imperfection of humans.

And it's not even so much as I'm in their snare so much as I'm being reasonable. I'll act like I'm in their snare just for you.

[snare]John McCain is the antichrist and Palin is his Alaskan *****.[/snare] Better? Thought so.

Bush was an awful President, don't try to play it like he was a good one, he was terrible, only reason I'm glad he wasn't assassinated was beause then we'd be stuck with Cheney. McCain would've been another Bush. Is Obama in the right direction? Maybe, but it's better than anything McCain could come up with. I'm sure everyone would be overjoyed to find out that McCain would've liked to keep everyone in Iraq for 100 years. I could pull an Antichrist theory to act even more ensnared, but I'll save you the trouble. wink

Indeed...it's also how many people believe this socialist and Muslim rumor...simply because they want it to be true. And even if he was a Muslim that would not make a difference for me. Especially since religion and state are supposed to be separated in America.

DarthBandon, you have no idea do you...... You didn't have to worry about being drafted, but if you were already in the Army/Navy/etc..., you were called up for active duty. This means that if you had done your time required when you join the Military, you could still get called up and put into duty even though you were supposedly done. Now this may not be the same as drafting people, but it is sure close since many people did and still do NOT want to be over there. I have a few class-friends and an uncle who is over there right now. I can speak for them when I say that they are proud to be able to serve in America's Military, but not be drug into a war they didn't want to fight.

what i meant by snare is that you really believe what they say. Socialsim would not work because no human is perfect, and i know you said it. so why are you bothering to say it? eek! do you even know what socialism means? have you ever researched it and found its origins? As i said earlier, this is America, not Europe. and as i said, there not doing to well either with there lovely socilaist goverment.

Now, on to bebobfox, yes actully i do have to worry about being drafted, im the first in my family, getting called up has nothing to do with the draft. But when you join a service, you kind of know the risksRoll Eyes (sarcastic) in almost every presidency, there has been some kind of conflict involing the military.

And as for knowing people that DONT want to be over there, well who would? your getting shot at day and night by a faceless enemy that shoots and runs like a coward. I wouldnt want to be over there either. But i know many people that joined the marines in the past year. they think we need to be there.

And sometimes, you got to do what you dont want to. even if its sucks.

the problem with this is that i would have to believe you about your class friends and you would have to believe me about my friends.

Also, was WW2 a war we shouldnt of fought? 7 million people killed in death camps and millions more in fighting before we got there.

Sudam hussian(hey thats baracks middle name) tourtured and killed over 7 million of his own people. i saw a video of a meeting beetween his military advisors and officers, he said they were all tratiors and he pointed at anyone who didnt .. worship him and praise him like he was king of the world and had them drug out to be shot. you could hear in the background the shots being fired. thats when i think its time to step in and do something. now if you do think WW2 was wrong, well, i feel awfully sorry for you.

If you dont believe me, which you wont of course, then look it up online or watch the history channel. i believe there one of the most left-winged channels out there. thats were i saw the video.

In this page is palpable. I haven't even read every single comment, but I can already tell on what level the average 'Joe' here on the internet receives and processes information. My hopes were up that we have mentally evolved beyond such petty accusations as have been brought up dozens upon dozens of times in these three-hundred something comments. My hopes were also up that most people were tired of the corruption and incompetence we have been plagued with for eight years. Again, I was proven wrong.

Congratulations- you have effectively lowered my expectations for the human race.

I made my post back at #40 and it has been interesting to read all that has transpired since then (yes, I read them all). Now that there is such an incredibly long list of comments, most people coming in now will not have read what I wrote. Since I still feel the same way I'm posting some of it again, with just a few updates.

As a USA voter who didn't vote for Obama I still welcome him and do wish him the best. There are a lot of issues and lots of different perspectives on these issues, but one thing is certain - now that he is our Commander in Chief I will give him due respect and best wishes in office. It's going to be a really hard job and I will be praying for him and his family. (I Tim. 2:1-2) We still are the people of the USA and the way we live our daily lives has a lot more impact than anything a president can do!

Hey, even if severe times of hardship are coming have you ever read this? If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name... So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good. (I Peter 4:15-19)

I doubt this news item of Obama's presidential victory was intended to turn all the members against one another in this verbal warfare. We have games to simulate battles and such, but who needs this in real life? I really hope that we don't start picking away at each other on all the other pages as a result of the grievances we express here. FileFront is and should remain a worldwide community brought together by the game(s) we enjoy and our support of one another. If we focus on what separates us we all end up angrier and embittered. Divided we fall, but together are strong!

Call me crazy, but I see FileFront as a great example of the principles that brought this country together in the first place. We are a very diverse group, but as we come together and share mods, maps, art and whatever our very differences are what we enjoy! When we show mutual respect and appreciation, some of the greatest creations have resulted (like the community map projects, awesome! ) Each of us are given quite a lot of freedom, but we safeguard from that which is intended to offend or put down others.

On the political level, what I think has really helped the USA is that our system of checks and balances forces our leadership to take seriously different points of view or suffer the consequences. It is always easier to see others faults than one's own. Different groups highlight what they see as serious problems and minimize others based on their perspective. This means that all the voices need to be heard in order to hope to get things close to right. Obama has to be careful to not go too far since he knows there is going to be another vote in 4 years. If you really have a problem with the decisions he will be making between now and then, remember those who because of their perspective had a real problem with the decisions Bush made over the last 8 years. If we realize that our differences really do make us stronger, it makes less sense to be attacking one another.

I want to say to say to the other FileFront members regardless of your citizenship or political point of view that I'm happy to have you on board! Let's stand together backing our leadership, respecting and supporting one another, and letting our diversity be our greatest strength!
